Well, I've been in London for a week now and attended the opening ceremonies earlier this evening. I was wondering how it looked on TV back in the States. It was an exhilarating experience, but in my opinion it was no where near what the Beijing ceremonies were. Staying another week then heading home to wash some Porsches. Go USA!
  4. I remember those commercials when I was a kid. But he went up to $99.95. That was in the early 80's.
  5. Picked up a set yesterday. Nice price plus 15% off is a deal. If they work out I'll have to pick up two more sets.
  6. No, I still do consulting work for a few companies here in New Orleans, so I still practice as a CPA. Plus I get to do friends and family taxes every year which is a blast!
  7. I'm a CPA. I've held several different positions from working in public accounting to my current position which is CEO of a credit union in New Orleans.
  8. No, Benson doesn't have the Porsche dealership. He gave it up for the Smart Car dealership about three years ago. What a dumb a$$. Typical Benson. The dealership here in Metairie/New Orleans is Ray Brandt. If you are from here I need not say anything further. The Baton Rouge guys were top notch. As for my ride, here is one that I got last October. It's been in the shop for the past two months. They are having issues getting a part from Italy after the earthquake hit back in May and closed down the Lambo and Ferrari factories.
  9. Didn't get to wash either of the cars this weekend. The weather has been terrible. Here is a picture of my daughters. Needless to say my wife took hers out to pick up dinner. Leaving for vacation for two weeks, so I will post picks once I get back and treat them both to their first wash.
  10. Gearing up for the first wash and detail tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed it doesn't rain. Pictures to follow.
  11. Trying to jump start the economy. LOL.... After having a health scare a couple of years ago, I realize that you can't take it with you and seeing my ladies with smiles from ear to ear will be a memory I'll never forget. It was worth every penny and then some.
  12. Well I never did hear back from the Porsche dealer after I emailed and called Friday expressing my interest in purchasing my wife's dream car (Porsche 911 Turbo). Saturday morning I decided to take a ride over to the dealership, but not before making a call to another dealership about 60 miles away. I told the other dealer what had happened and expressed my interest in purchasing the automobile from them if they could get the car transferred. I arrived at the local dealer and took the car for a test drive then started the game of playing with the numbers. After about an hour I threw the salesman out a low ball number. His response "I knew this was a waste of my time, that's why I don't waste my time with emails and phone calls." At that I laughed and like a perfect script, I over heard the GM in the next office discussing the 911 I was looking at. It was the other dealer asking about trading cars. The GM walked into the office and asked if I was interested in the car at $XXXX because if not, he was going to trade the car to another dealer because they had a buyer. At that I said no thanks with a big smile and walked out. About 30 minutes later I got a call from the other dealer saying that he had agreed to trade for the car I was interested in. I immediately drove the 60 miles to sign the papers, while a rep drove down to pick up the car from the local dealer. After arriving, I noticed another 911 on their lot (Base model) same color, but black interior compared to the wife's tan interior. Feeling daring, I pulled the trigger on both and purchased the base 911 for my daughter and the Turbo for my wife. They loaded the base car on a trailer and followed me back home and when I pulled up the Turbo was waiting for me in my driveway. Now, that is what I call service. The best part is by the time the rep got to my local dealer, they we closing and they were unable to get the second key and books for the car. I stopped by today with the Turbo to pick up the other key and books. I went right up to the front desk and asked for the GM. When he approached me he said "Sorry buddy the car is gone." I said "No buddy it's right there. I purchased it an hour after I left and also picked up a second 911. BIG MISTAKE.... HUGE MISTAKE! Maybe you should have your people starting answering emails and returning calls. It was priceless!!!!! I'll post pictures this weekend after I finish their virgin details.
  13. Very busy day. Purchased two new cars today. One for my wife and one for my daughter. They now have matching cars.... Kinda. Will post pics soon!
  14. Yesterday my wife went to lunch with her mother and on the way home she passed the Porsche dealership and noticed that they had her dream car on the lot (911 Turbo). I've been keeping my eye out for the guards red with the tan interior, but haven't come across one in the past two years. Well she immediately calls me and tells me that the unicorn is there and that if I wanted to buy it she would gladly accept it. Seeing that our 20th anniversary is coming up, I said what the heck and emailed them last night. I received a response from the internet manager this morning at 9:30 that said "Mr. Florane, thank you for your inquiry on the 911 Turbo. Mr. Short has your information and will be contacting you by 10:00am to discuss the automobile and answer any questions you may have." I'll add that I told them that I was looking to buying the car today. Well guess what? It's 7:45pm here and no call. I called the dealership around 2:15 and asked for Mr. Short and was told that he was at lunch and he would return my call as soon as he got back. I guess a commission on a 911 Turbo isn't worth his/their time. Apparently, the economy is a lot better around here than I realize. Maybe the gang in Colorado can develop a DVD on customer service. I know someone who can uses it. I'll continue to keep my eyes out, because I will NEVER buy from that dealership.
  15. Pretty good series. I enjoyed the first two nights which built up to the finale, but the way they brought it to an end was disappointing. I was expecting a little more. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars. Much better than watching some of the crap they have on all the other channels. I only need 3 channels now. History, Discovery and Fox News..... Not in that order.
  16. I've got two of them that I've never used. Does this mean in 30 years I can be on Pawn Stars trying to get big money for them?
  17. I've just about had it living in New Orleans. I guess it is a nice place to visit, but once you have lived here all your life it's just another garbage can in life. I'm getting to the point where I'm seriously thinking of retiring. This morning I'm on my way to work and a traffic report comes on the radio and I hear the following.. "Traffic is building up on Franklin Avenue back to Esplanade. There are reports that there is a body in the road." Are you kidding me? Now we have traffic issues in the morning because idiots are shooting each other in the middle of the street. With real estate being a buyers market, I'm looking at picking up a retirement home somewhere either in Utah or Colorado. I'm tied of looking at trashed houses, garbage in the streets and drive by reports every morning on the news. Does anyone live in or near Provo or Park City Utah? Not sure about areas in Colorado yet, but having Adam's there just might push me to the Rockies!
  18. Hey Chris, What is the orange liquid in the bottle on the right side of the cart? Is that a new product?
  19. Hi Deral, I haven't had any experience with the Simonize Glasscoat, but I have seen something similar called CQuartz. I doubt very seriously what they have put on your car will last for years and years. The CQuartz I mention is a nano coating in that it binds with the clear coat and/or paint to fill in the micro pits and thus giving an even coat. In addition it does give some protection against scratching. With that said, it will only last for 6 months at most. It costs about $75 to $100 max for one supply. In my opinion anyone who does not do offroading will not get their money worth out of the application. I've been using Adam's for about 6 years now and the paint on my 2005 Vette looks as new as the day I drove it off the lot. If you want to get the most out of your paint, watch the Junkman's videos. Wash it properly and keep a good layer of Americana on it at all times. You can't go wrong maintaining your paint. I would not say you got ripped off, you just paid a premium for the dealer installing the product. It's like saying the rubber gasket that will stop your toilet from leaking only cost $3 but the plumber charged you $75 to install it. That is fine, because it stopped the leak and I don't know how to install it myself. You will get some benefit from it but not what they claim. Join the club and start your voyage into the Adam's addiction. I've tried everything under the sun from $2,000 jars of wax to over the counter stuff and I can honestly say Adam's is the best I have ever used and the company and staff are top notch. Enjoy the new ride!!!
  20. When did Adam hire Billy D. Williams? My mistake that is Junkman!!!!
  21. Those are not the same dogs in the multiple posts. He has 10 dogs and they look very similar.
  22. I'm confused.... Is the 28 the size of the rim or the IQ of the idiot that did that to the car? Guess you can't use that for a drive-by and blend in. Waiting to see it on a "Stupid criminal" video.
  23. I received my 4" spot pads last week, but couldn't find my wrench. I ordered one off the Internet last Thursday and it finally arrived. After removing the velcro backing pad, I see that there is some sort of counter weight on the machine that reads "Use 5 inch pad only" Do I remove this to use the 4" spot pads or do I leave it on? I plan on going crazy this weekend!
