    Shine Snob!

I am not a shine snob!! I'm just better at it than most people;)
  3. Paste wax traditionally contains more carnauba wax, which gives your car a "wetter" look. MSW is a sealant which is synthetic and not a wax per se. Buttery wax contains carnauba, but to keep it in liquid form, the concentration of carnauba must be low (carnauba is rock hard and MUST be diluted/thinned in order for it to spread). The definition of "shine" is a vague one at best. It matters more to the individual than it does to general public. Here's why: Carnauba-based car waxes add an element of depth and warmth to a car. Really stands out on darker colors, making the paint look "wet" and deep. Traditionally, durability has been a problem. (Good for 6-8 weeks) Polymer paint sealants create brilliance and sparkle. Better for the lighter colors, and when durability is more important. Some have said the sealants, while reflecting light (the "shine" part) they tend to look sterile and without "feeling", but can last 4-6 months. The best way to fix these inherent shortcomings, and to get the best of both wolds, is to apply the MSW first, wait 12 hours or so, then apply the wax in either the liquid or paste form. (I prefer the deep wet look myself, so I have used paste wax exclusively- more carnauba) HTH
  4. Which is why I've sworn by paste wax for the past 10 years. Now I can have a complete Adams shelf:banana:
  5. Some polishes, waxes and especially glazes have fillers in them. Fillers will, as the name implies, fill in the small scratches and make the paint look better than it really is. While this is good for short term gain (car shows and such), the fillers wear off quickly and you are left with a scratched up finish in a week or two. The alcohol will remove the fillers and you can see what your paint REALLY looks like. This is not for the faint of heart. It will make more work for you, but if you want perfect paint, it's the best way to go.

  10. Every now and again, Sears has a sale- 2 12X12 canopies for $100 (but you have to buy 2 at a time) Sams club has a 10X10 with walls and a banner placemark for $169
  11. problem is, both are aluminum. Brake parts cleaner will eat it, won't it?
  12. will the APC clean the engine coolant off of a waterpump good enough to paint? Or will it leave a film? I have to remove the waterpump to replace the optispark (distributor) and want to paint it while it's out tomorrow.
  13. Not to name-drop, but I NEED to know...... just how my brain works:willy: :willy:I use both the Signature Series II and the Sovereign. Sovereign is the better of the 2 (MUCH better), and you say that the Americana is better than the Sovereign? For LESS? I can't wait to do a side by side comparison:thumbsup:
  14. As Carl himself said "NASCAR puts us in a box and we have to race like this until someone gets killed, then they'll [NASCAR] change the rules" (talking about the yellow line) Still, you go high KNOWING that he'll block, only to shoot low and stick your nose under him. C'mon, he (Keselowski) knew that Carl would try to block again.... sounded like he expected Carl to. Looks like a play straight from the Earnhardt SR. playbook..... and he was as crooked as they come. Was it legal? Yes. Was it clean? Not even close. Keselowski won check out www.nascar.com pics/video and story are there.
  15. Final lap, final turn at Talledega and Carl Edwards gets clipped and hits the retaining fence with the roof of his car. Carl was done wrong:explode: Keep in mind that I am by NO means an Edwards fan, but that was just WRONG!!
  16. Big butts? Y'all wanna talk about big butts? Mine kicks so much dirt up, that they put a wiper on the rear:glasses:. It's so bad that I NEED to take detail spray with me when I go to the local car shows...... 2.4 miles away:eek: I also subscribe to the 80/20 rule. Most people (customers) can't tell the difference between 80% and 100% Honey, does my butt make this road look small?
  17. 15 minutes (give your arm time t recover) Seriously, there is no cure time for the paste. Think buttery wax in a jar.
  18. $100,000+ cars? No. Good ole fashioned hot rods? Absolutely. This was taken at WagonFest '07...... "Morticia" (former funeral/coroners car) "Ratmaster"
  19. Paste has ALWAYS been better than ANY liquid or sealant. Just the nature of the stuff. Can we get an *idea* or ballpark figure for pricing? Will I need to get a loan?
  20. 14 monitors??? I drove an H-1 for 21 years and can't imagine where you'd put all those tv's
