  1. .... Your side business explodes at your 9-5 job after they see your work on 2 Jeeps for photo shoots and giveaways. .... You have cleaned and polished every stainless item in your home. .... You can pick out swirls even at night on every other car you pass besides other Adam's members.
  2. All he really wants is the dog back. I didn't want to post to the thread on Pirate since I didn't know if it was against cross posting to other forums but there are more photos of the dog and truck over there. Plus some language from other members on the forum but purely out of disgust to whoever store the mans dog and truck.
  3. Stupid on many levels. Just wait until that chain breaks and is sent like a rocket in the air hitting someone watching this or going right through one of the trucks tailgates, in the rear window, right through the head rest, through the drivers head and out the windshield. This happened to an offroader a ways back and is pretty much why I never use any chains for pulling someone out or towing. Even straps with metal hooks on them are a huge no no. Only time chains are used is when it's on the trailer as additional tie downs.
  4. Dog was going in next week for a chip and to be fixed Still nothing yet but the word is spreading. I don't ask for much but please everyone share the link in whatever capacity you can. We both greatly appreciate your time and help with this. I'll keep this updated as things progress. Hoping for a positive outcome.
  5. Hi all. I don't normally post stuff like this all of the time but the more eyes that see this, the better. This is one of my fellow pirate4x4 members and a man that had his dog and truck stolen from him a few days ago. It made it onto Jalopnik and he is still searching for them both. All he really wants is the dog back, no questions asked. Here is the link for anyone that could keep an eye out over the upcoming holidays when more and more are out on the roads. Help Find The Scumbag Who Stole This Land Cruiser With A Dog Inside Also here are some additional photos and information in case anyone is out traveling around this weekend. Please, if you have any information contact the owner and the authorities. I'm only posting up what the owner has already posted elsewhere. 6. Awesome! I'll be picking up some of these for sure. Thanks for all of your hard work and product innovation Adam's crew!
  7. Nice! Those truck pans do hang down wayyyyy low. I had to swap oil pans when I put mine in the Jeep. Now the oil pan and the transmission pan are nearly even across the bottoms. Many guys will swap to an F-body style oil pan with the improved baffle in the pan to help prevent oil sloshing. I went with a Kevko oil pan but for your application, and what I would have went with if it was available at the time, I would look into the MAST Motorsports pan if you want to add an oil cooler to your motor. It is a pretty slick setup that makes it VERY easy to run a cooler and keeps the filter in the factory location. You can also run it without any oil cooler and it will act exactly like a factory oil pan. They aren't cheap but they are a nice product. There is a ton of info all over the LS forums about the F-body oil pan and all of the correct part numbers. If you need help sourcing anything, just let me know and I can do some digging for ya. It's the least I can do while you're protecting our nation Also those look like some Sanderson shorties correct? Can't go wrong with them! I'm still kicking myself for not getting the coated option when I ordered them. Keep up the good work!
  8. Oh I heard that loud and clear! I'm just waiting for the body work to be done on it so the B&M detailing duo can swarm that paint and make it look better than ever!
  9. Nice little tasteful details make all of the difference. Very well done all the way around my friend! There is one more thing tho, I think it needs to go lower Just curious for anyone that doesn't know but how long have you been tinkering on this bad bird? I have only had mine for a little over a year and it's slowly but surely getting there. Beautiful work as always!
  10. Absolutely! There's a reason I only spend enough time on there before my brain goes 'Well we could order that and.... no, no, NO!!' Haha! They are good people and will take care of you for sure. Please keep us posted!
  11. After a hard rinse and then pool rinsing, I use DS and a GW to knock off the majority of the water then follow up with the Master Blaster. Yes I realize the point of blowing off the car is so you don't make any physical contact with the paint in the drying process but I've found the above method yields the best results. Since you're blowing out every nook and cranny with a dryer it will take you longer time wise to dry everything since no drop of water is safe
  12. Vengeance Racing and Texas Speed can put together everything you need as well. Whatever you do, DO NOT deal with Livernois. Horrible customer support and all they want is your money. After that, it's your problem.
  13. In a years time I purchased about 70% of everything Adams offers Glad I got to meet you at this past years spring clinic at Thompson Racing! Hope you can make it back out this way again soon!
  14. I have a 5 gallon of APC on the way to me right now so I think I'm set for a while Quick Sealant just made all of my jambs on the car extra protected! It gets the nod for another day from me.
  15. Sounds great about the clearance! I'm not sure about other things that will be up and around your exhaust but on the 5.3L I swapped into my Jeep I'm running a set of Sanderson headers. They are made here in the USA and offer up some nice headers depending on what you can run clearance wise. For mine I ran their shorty block hugger headers since clearance were very tight but they do offer a long tube version. Check them out here. For the car I'm going to be running a set of Kooks or American Racing headers with high flow cats. Even tho I could get the tune close to smelling like I have cats on a non-catted vehicle since my ID850 injectors are completely characterizable to allow me to control specific fuel delivery, I'd just rather run a set of high flow cats and be done with it. Anyway before I get too far ahead of myself and on different topics those companies should get your started for good header companies to go with your new powerplant. I would recommend the 1-7/8" tubes from Kooks or ARH for the power you're going to be putting out. ARH does offer some Camaro sets with 2" tubes but unless you plan on going even more radical, it isn't necessary. I know the 1-5/8" by Sanderson should be good enough as well since they are VERY free flowing and not too many bends going on with those.
  16. Haha thanks Mook! I don't know everything, but enough to make my motors dangerous to anyone else. Oh I agree the truck intake looks ugly without any cover on the top. I was just going off of the truck vs car intake manifold itself. There are some kits out there that will transform the look of the newer LS motor into an older one but most delete the DBW (Drive By Wire) setup and thus further tuning is needed among other things. Nothing wrong with having some modern power under the hood.
  17. It seems like you could run a bit more of a cam to be comfortably into the 500rwhp/rwtq area. What size stall are you running and what trans? May I suggest giving Texas Speed or Vengeance Racing a call and see what they would put in there bumpstick wise. A lot of the guys that run truck motors in other than truck applications (Jeeps, Ultra 4 rigs, ....) get pretty good recommendations from them and they seem to be spot on. The specs on the cam that I was going to run if I stayed NA in the G8 was going to be a Vengeance Racing grind 231/243 .617/.624 115+3. That was their old Stage III cam but they have now released a newer Stage III cam that is called the Kaotik cam. Specs are 235/243 620/623 113+2LSA. Below is a quick explanation of why they changed the cam specs. "We have found that the “original” Stage III Camshaft had too much of a split for that high of a duration in an LS3. After much trial and error we developed the Kaotik (new stage III) cam. The only difference between it and the original stage 3 is 4 degrees more on the intake duration and it’s cut on a 113+2 vs. a 115+3 We found that it retains the same drivability while making MORE power across the board plus a much better sound from idle to rev! It averages 480rwhp with headers and tune NA, and 700+ with a blower! Works amazingly in both applications." About the same duration as yours with a bit bigger lift as in that TrickFlow kit. With some good matching head work to that cam, long tubes and a tune it would be north of 500rwhp for sure. Now that I decided to go FI on the car it changes some things, but, I can actually still use that Kaotik cam. Also don't get too tangled up in the truck vs car intake myth and claims one is better than the other. The differences between the two are not that big as many claim. Now if you are having a hood clearance issue or something like that I totally understand. You could always flip the intake manifold around 180 degrees and run the air filter into the cabin of the car to really throw people off if you wanted to . The sky isn't even the limit with these motors. While it's all apart, go big!
  18. Yeah don't cover up a Maggie. That is, if you do go FI on this build. Keep us posted on what your build plans are, what you would like for it to put down to the ground and what you're thinking about going with. This is going to be wicked!
  19. Not a bad setup. I'm running the smaller brother motor (5.3L) in my Jeep and it's awesome. Drivability is improved so much it's unreal. Now, you thinking about keeping this one NA or possibly going with FI down the road at some point? You can make these things sounds as sleeper or as nasty as you want. They are fun to build
  20. Any will do. I have been using off the shelf ATF for a while now at home. If it can get 20 year old suspension bolts and parts worked free then it's good in my book.
  21. A mixture of half Acetone and half Automatic Trans Fluid works MUCH better than anything you can buy in a can. Just put it in a spray bottle and use it on anything that needs rust eaten away. My good friend who is also a mechanic and the only one I trust working on my ride has been using it for years now. Anything up this way has a ton of rust on the underside if it gets used in the winter.
  22. Only thing I really want is for the body work and paint to be done on the Jeep. It needs it like 4 years ago. I know I probably wont get it but at least that leaves everything else to be a surprise!
  23. X2 on it being simple. It's fairly straight forward. I will say tho, it helps to have a buddy around as well. When my dad and I put the shocks on his truck, it was nice having someone push up on the shock to get the eyelet of the shock lined up with the bolt hole. It's not too difficult of a job but one of those 'I wish I had 3 or 4 hands' kinda deals at points. I've outgrown my days of working on my rigs in the cold weather. It's never a fun time. Haha!
  24. X3 for Bilstein shocks. Put a set on my dad's Dodge 1500 Ram and it made it so much better over the factory junk. The next set of shocks for my Jeep will be Bilsteins as well before I move to Bilstein coilovers on it
