  1. That one large spot in the middle almost looks like the clear coat is starting to peel off.
  2. YEP! Been there done that! People that come into my garage see my detail cart with all of the products on it and ask how much I have into it all. I don't even know, but I tell them probably over 2 grand. Their mouths about drop to the floor.
  3. I don't like to charge friends or family for anything. I can see having them pay for the products that are used, but I feel better not exchanging money with family or close friends.
  4. This makes perfect sense. I guess I never thought of this before. I usually use my merino wash mitt and I have never had this "dread lock" problem with that.
  5. Dawn for me too. I have always used the blue colored soap.
  6. I use 8oz. of car shampoo per 32 total oz. in my foam cannon. I probably go overboard with the soap, but it lathers up nice and smells great too!
  7. Sounds like a good vehicle to test on. Play around a little and get it looking good, clean it up, turn around and double or triple your money. I have done that to a few cheap cars and made some money by just making them look better.
  8. That sign in the background should say "BEWARE of SHINE"
  9. 180 degree transformation! Great job!!
  10. I have an all black Yukon and I applied brilliant glaze over machine super sealant and americana, and sorry to say, I really didn't notice much difference.
  11. If I want to get the wax off, I have always used the "blue" dawn dish soap. I can definitely tell the wax isn't there when I am drying the car off.
  12. I am fortunate enough to have a heated garage. I have a nice detail cart for all of my polishes and I have a good portion of a rolling tool chest to store my microfiber towels. For me, there is no reason to have my supplies anywhere but in the garage.
  13. I have a Mi-T-M 3000 psi 2.4 gmp pressure washer. I thought I heard they were made in Iowa. Of course the Honda GX200 engine on it is made in japan, but I think it is a really nice unit.
  14. I don't have the best water pressure at my house, so my fire hose nozzle doesn't work so great. It would be nice if the new ones would work better with lower water pressures.
  15. The first black vehicle I owned I swore would be my last. I now have my 4th black vehicle. They pi$$ me off, but they are sure pretty when they are clean!
  16. I have worked on a few headlights. Some require more aggressive correction than others. The worst ones I worked on I started with 1000 grit, but it wasn't doing the trick. I ended up wet sanding with 600, then 800, then 1000, then last 2000. I then polished them as I would paint. They all turned out great, but some headlights had some crazing (cracking in the plastic) which could not be sanded out.
  17. I paint signs and sometimes people get a little carried away with the silicone and it gets on areas I need to paint. The best way I have gotten silicone off is to rub it fairly aggressively with my finger until it all crumbles off, then wipe the area with wax and grease remover (like ppg dx330)to get the greasy residue off. Of coarse I'm working with bare aluminum and not a painted surface. Good luck!
  18. I vote all purpose cleaner too, but I have also used WD-40 before I started using Adams products.
  19. Bugs are really bad here in SD in the summer months. I try to get bugs off ASAP! Recently I purchased a pressure washer and now I have no problems trying to get the bugs off. One thing I try to do is put a coat of quick sealant on the front of my vehicle before I go for a drive that might end up with a lot of bugs.
  20. Is that a picture of your pickup's tailpipe? If you polished it, how did you do it? It looks amazing compared to mine! I was thinking about painting mine black, but I really like the way this looks. Maybe I should just do the DPF delete and make it naturally black.
  21. I thought I would share some pics of my freshly detailed pickup. This was my first time using Americana, and I realy like how it is applied, removed, and how the finished product looks. This is a 2012 that I have had for about a year now. It didn't sit on the lot, and the paint was in real good shape from the dealer. All I have done is clay, seal, glaze, and wax. I have not done any corrective work to it at all. Don't yell at me for having too much product on here, but I will admit it's a lot! So far, I have 8 coats of Machine super sealant, 1 coat of Brilliant glaze, and 2 coats of Americana wax. I don't see any hazing at all. It is just pure shine! It looks great outside, but the weather isn't cooperating for outdoor pics.
  22. OOOPS, my Bad! I shouldn't have used my redneck term "eating away". I should have used a word such as will it "degrade" my sealant if brilliant glaze is applied over it. I get it now. From other posts I have read, it sounded like if it was applied over wax, It would basically dissolve the wax, then I got to thinking about my sealant and how that would be affected. Thanks for everyones input!
  23. Apparently brilliant glaze has a solvent in it that eats away at the wax when it is in the liquid form and applied on top of wax. That is why I was wondering if it has an effect on sealant.
