Scratches

After washing and claying my new white G8, I found a bunch of scratches, origin unknown on the hood and roof (hood mostly). At least one of them is deep enough to sorta almost catch when I run a fingernail across it. Just tried my new pads, S&H remover, and polishes (and some Maguires Scratch-X with the orange pad) but they are not going away. Tried to get a pic but the camera battery died.

 

Suggestions?

I think part of my problem was not using the detail spray often enough. I understand that the spray provides the lubrication while the pad is turning. Friction is heat and that is probably why my orange pad was heating up. I also noticed that the polish did'nt spread out much on the pad. Could be caused by a lack of lube.

Coolness. I retook the indoor pics. Replaced one in the initial pics. Here's the other! She looks white now!

...One question: What does it mean when the pad starts smoking?

 

You know, the PC will start smoking and be very hot to touch if you don't have the washer installed under the pad plate. A few people have burned up their motors that way.
