Review Jumbo Vac & Blo by Metrovac

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased Adam's JUMBO Vac N' Blo Pro Series by MetroVac and decided to do a review.

Of course the order process and delivery times were outstanding as expected by Adam's

Packaging

The unit came in a well secure and protected packaged. Nothing was damaged.

Overall impression was that alot of thought went into the packaging and it showed.

Contents

After emptying the box and getting ready to mount the unit, I did a quick inventory of all the listed parts.

*NOTE This comes directly from the vendor.

I found several things that were missing from the box that were listed on the contents list. Common things like vacuum bags, hose holder, accessory holder etc.....

Overall thought was that someone made a mistake and forgot to put in a few things that were supposed to be in the box.......hmmmmm.

Product

The product is a well built, well made unit. It is sturdy and has a great finish. It comes with alot of accessories that help in cleaning the most smallest areas on a car i.e.....the area between the seat and the rocker panel. I especially like the hoses they are made of some kind of rubber content material and are real flexible and soft not like most hard plastic hoses that ALOT of vacuums have.

Overall impression of the product was impressive.

Function

I specifically left my car completely wet to see how the machine performed in the drying aspect.

The unit comes with 24 feet of hose, 4 -6 foot sections, and for the application of drying 24' does not work well. It lost alot of pressure after 24 foot, which is normal for what it is intended to do. I took 12 foot off and the unit perormed well. It took approximately 20 minutes to completely dry a 2010 Camaro, wheels and all using a 12 foot section of hose. The force pushed water away and along with the heated air it dried perfectly. ( NOTE BE SURE TO HOLD THE END OF THE HOSE WHEN TURNING UNIT ON, OR YOU WILL GET A SURPRISE )

I am sure drying time will be less once I use the pooling method to dry my car then use this unit. I left it totally wet as a product test/demo type of thing just to see what it would do in the worst case senario.

Vacuum Function

Still waiting to use the vacuum function until the missing parts arrive. Will edit this once I receive the items.

Overall Thoughts and Comments

I had a Master Blaster before and upgraded to this since I built a new garage and had more room. I wanted a dual function unit that would dry the car and vacuum as well instead of having two different units.

One short note to Ashley about the missing items and it was taken care of, again this is NOT on Adams since this item comes directly from the Manfacturor.

The unit performs well. Has ALOT of accessories to get into those hard to reach areas. It is loud but no more than any other wet/dry vacuum I have owned.

The unit comes with a wall mount and has wheels for easy movability. Hoses are absolutely GREAT.

My overall opinion is that I made a good decision buying this unit and would recommend it to anyone looking for a dual ( Drying and Vacuuming) unit.

Hope this helps someone who is looking at this unit.

Thanks for the review! I was looking at this one myself. Of course I just ordered the Master Blaster already, and hoping to get the new Adam's Wet/Dry vac too. But I do like the idea of having one unit.

I had the Master Blaster and it worked great, was compact and pushed alot of air. I just had the ability and room to get a new machine and really only wanted one. This was a good one especially since it had a wall mount.

Sounds good, go to the site and rate it!:2thumbs:

Chris I am planning on doing that, just want to use the Vacuum part of it, I am sure it will be fine, just want to be sure.

Adam I appreciate the information but this machine shipped directly from MetroVac or at least that is what the shipping tag said, a place in the northeast. So I don't think this is on you guys. I sent you an e-mail.

Ok I received the missing items a few days ago and last night decided to put the vacuuming properties to a test on my 2500HD 4X4 Crewcab Diesel truck.

The vacuum performed extremely well. The micro attachments allowed me to reach places that had not been cleaned in awhile.

This unit is a great unit and I highly recommend this to anyone.

Quick question. Since you had the Master Blaster before, and now you have the All-in-One unit, how would you compare the two as far as drying efficiency? I ask because I have the Air Force Blaster (4HP) and I want to upgrade to the Master Blaster (8Hp), but if this vac does both, then I may just go with this. Any feedback would help. Thanks!

Dave,

I had the 79.95 hand held Mater Blaster before I upgraded to this unit. This unit has more power for drying. I dried a completely wet 2010 Camaro to Completely dry in 20 minutes as kinda a test. Normally I do the pooling water drying technique first but wanted to see how it performed with a completely wet car.

The air comes out heated after a few seconds and quickly will dry tires/bumpers etc... It moves the water across flat surfaces rather quickly and has enough force to get water out of mirrors, cracks and things like that.

It also has some mirco attachments that allow you to get into small areas alot easier than a regular vac.

I had look at the Air Force Dryer, BUT I wanted a dual purpose machine and I am certainly glad I got this one. It cleaned the interior of my dirty truck pretty quick last night, better than some shop vacuums I have owned.

The hoses are GREAT. made out of a rubber type material that is very flexible. Unit has wheels for ease of movment and a positive ( toggle) on/off switch, not some push button junk.

Hope this helps, if you need anymore info please feel free to ask.

John

So you had the Blaster Sidekick then, not the Master Blaster.

Not this:

I was wondering how the 4 hp Jumbo Vac N' Blo would be an upgrade from the 8 hp Master Blaster, other than being dual function.

Len, I was wondering the same thing. I'll let John respond, but judging by the price he had the one that you have pictured. I don't know what the airflow is on the Jumbo Vac n Blo, but I think the Master Blaster you have pictured is like 58,500 exactly double what my 4.0 Hp version does. Maybe I'll just just get the Master Blaster and do a side by side video review and return or sell the one I don't want.

EDIT:

The Master Blaster is 58,000 Ft Min

Air Force Blaster is 29,250 Ft Min

Sidekick is 18,000 Ft Min

Jumbo Vac N Blo is ??? (I couldn't find the "blowing" stats):lolsmack:

Yeah, the Vac N' Blos are just rated by the suction lift. I'd imagine it's similar to the Air Force Blaster though as both have 4 hp motors (the Master Blaster actually just has two 4 hp motors.) I have the Vac N' Blo Portable, which has the same motor and 95" of suction lift that the Jumbo Vac has, but it's just a shorter case and weighs 8 lbs instead of 25 lbs. I like it because it's small, yet still just as powerful, and can still do both vacuuming and blowing. I have two separate hoses with one dedicated for each task. Some day I may buy the Master Blaster from Adam for more blowing power, but I'd definitely be interested in a comparison video to help accelerate my decision.

I can't wait to try one of these bad boys out. I can't stop calling them R2Detail Either....where is Shaka King to tell me George Lucas' gonna sue somebody!

Thanks for the review!!

I thought the new Shop Vac was the R2Detail?

  • 1 year later...

I know this thread is over a year old but I was looking to pick up both a high quality car vacuum as well as a better blower than both the Adam's large waffle weave drying towels (that do work great) and my Toro electric leaf blower.

I could still just pick up a Metrovac sidekick and use the towels and be ok but then I saw this:

Adam's JUMBO Vac N' Blo Pro Series by MetroVac

and was wondering if anyone had any opinions/updates on its realistic capability to dry a car over other products.

It works OK, as a blower, but you have the issue of blowing the dirt from the hose on to the car. I prefer using the Sidekick for drying and the Vac N' Blo (same motor, smaller canister) to clean.

So this may be the better route to go then. I could pick up the vacuum and the sidekick for the slightly more money +/- than the 2-n-1 vac/blower.

Is the sidekick sufficient enough to dry a car (2-door sports for myself)? Or am I going to be out there for 20+ minutes trying to fan off the water with the smaller unit?

I know its advertised via Metrovac as a motorcycle dryer so I'm curious to know it's car drying potential.

Even if you car is freshly clayed/polished/sealed and pool rinsed, it would be tough to dry your entire car without touching a towel to your paint...so I've heard. I don't have the sidekick, I have the 4hp model that Adam's doesn't sell, and I can do it on smaller vehicles. I always take a towel to the car, so it doesn't really bother me.

Because I have two of the Adams large drying towels, I don't mind touching the paint myself. I have faith and have not seen any noticeable scratching from them thus far. I was originally considering getting the mini-blaster to really get the water out and polishing dust (haven't mastered polishing yet to not produce zero dust) out of all of the cracks and crevices. Even with my leaf blower there's still water in some places after hitting the entire car with it.

I have one of those Stinger Home Depot brand mini vacuums that I bought years ago but it's not very good at all. I like the idea of having a wall-mounted vac with a extended hose so I'm really trying to nail down the best solution(s) for vacuuming and drying the car (cracks, mirrors, wheels, etc).

The sidekick works well to knock off most water and dry the wheels off then you only have a little towel dry to finish. I use the detail spray and great white to finish a wash so don't feel I need the extra power. I did pick up the jumbo vac n blo, it puts out a lot more air than the sidekick, but as I use the vacuum portion you need to take the time to change to a blower & make sure the air is clean it doesn't save much time over the sidekick. The jumbo rock as far as a vacuum goes, way better than any shop vac or coin operated car wash setup.

If you only get one go dual purpose and if budget and space allow get both.

Agreed with Eric. I have both as well. The Master Blaster devours larger cars in no time, but the sidekick accomplishes the same thing confidently, just on a smaller scale and maybe just takes a few mins longer to completely get things dry.

I should also add that the warmed air that comes out of these things is a welcomed feature on colder wash days!!
