Adam's Business Cards?

Recommended Posts

I was at my mechanic getting scheduled service yesterday and a lady that was in the waiting room had the same car as me, so we struck up a conversation.

In short, she told me "My neighbors think I'm crazy, washing my car every week out in my driveway." and how she has to "scrub HARD to get those darn bugs off the front bumper each time"

Ouch! I almost cringed.

I gently suggested she try some sort of all purpose cleaner along with a boar's hair brush to deal with the bugs.

I asked her what she used for chemicals, and she wasn't too sure, "something like A**** A**"

So my suggestion is to create some sort of business card template or PDF that we can all download, print out a couple of them and keep them in our cars, wallets, etc for situations like this? I would have loved to give her a card or something to direct her to Adam's more than something scribbled on a napkin or written in the corner of some receipt she was carrying.

I'm sure that once she watches the videos she will be hooked!

A different forum I used to visit had a similar thing; flyer available to download and print, users would place them on other cars they wanted to "tag". I saw a nice Z06 the other day, really needed a good wash, and was wishing I had something of this type.

Could really make them at home with a printer, card stock and an approved Adam's Template. Avery has a really cool online Design & Print free software for their card stocks. Works really well and is extremely easy. I use it from time to time when I do designs for customers to print out test cards.

We just need Adam's to officially approve a template, make it downloadable for us to print out. I'm sure there would be a legal issue somewhere if we started making our own Adam's referral cards.

Dylan, that's your weekend project!

While I think its a decent idea whats wrong with the DVD's? You guys are always saying how many of them you have... handing a guy an educational DVD is probably going to be far more effective than just a business card.

Plus DVD's are free with every order so if you need one (or a few) grab some with each order and you've got plenty on hand.

Thoughts??

I pick up my Adams supplies at trade shows or car shows and don't get extra Dvd's.Most times i'm at a car show and get asked where to get Adams products. I usually tell them to do a internet search to get contact info. Now thinking about it i should get business cards from my supplier here in Canada to hand out to those who ask.

At times a DVD and business card will be the way to go. Other times a business card would be better. As long as a prospective customer can easily find the web sight, mission accomplished. Putting a DVD under someones wiper blade is a bad idea.

Personally I think putting anything under someone's wiper blade is a bad idea. Maybe it's just a pet peeve of mine, but if they've done that, then it means they've touched my car without my permission, and it would turn me off from whatever they're trying to sell. I think business cards would be good though for like in the OP's case, where you happen to strike up a conversation with someone unexpectedly, you can just pull one out of your wallet. As stated before, business cards are a lot easier to carry around than DVDs. Now for something like a car show where you expect these types of discussions, you could easily bring a stack of DVDs and if people ask you could hand them out.

Personally I think putting anything under someone's wiper blade is a bad idea.

And thats where my thought process was going. While good natured in intention, I'm sure some people with access to these cards would drop them under wiper blades, stuff them in door jambs, etc. Personally when I find ANYTHING on my car after its been parked I'm immediately ticked off. Generally I throw whatever it is in the garbage, and if its obvious what company it is I'm already forming a negative opinion of them.

I'd hate for someone, with good intentions, to drop an Adam's card under someones wiper and that car owner think less of our brand b/c of it.

Keep a couple extra catalogs in your trunk (they're free with every order and we'll happily include more if you ask) or a DVD or 2 in the glove box for times when people ask... but placing anything under someone elses wiper isn't something we want to get into.

I get the thought process, and while a DVD or catalog don't fit in your wallet the times when you're not near your car the odds of striking up a convo related to how you got your finish to look so good are pretty slim. In todays world everyone has their cell phones on them anyways... program our toll free number into your address book (866.965.0400) and when you don't have a DVD or Catalog to hand someone on the spot, give them the number and tell them to call and order one or both - we'll happily send them out for free.
