Adam's New Rolling Detail Seat!

just curious what is in the non-adam's spray bottle that is orange?

It's a bad pic. It's actually detail spray in a larger bottle. Chris took the pic before the 36oz bottles came out.

That's a great question actually, and as Chris said, 325lbs is the rating on the seat. I've bounced on it with my 210lb behind, and no problem...

Just thought I'd post an update here that my Rolling Detail Seat was bowed after the first use. I'm around 250 lbs and when I sat right in the center it bowed quite noticably and to this date still is bent. (after perhaps 2 months of waiting to see if bowing straightened itself out)

Rather disappointed in this as it seemed to be made of fairly rigid plastic. I find now I can only sit right on one end and hope it doesn't tip over.

I recommend anyone who is a big guy think twice before buying this. Perhaps I got a defective one, who knows? First time I've been disappointed with an Adams product.

Sorry to hear that Dave, and thats certainly unusual... we have sold these to many people and some I know tip the scales at 250 or better without hearing something like this. I've even used mine as a makeshift dolly around my garage before, loading it down with more than 250lbs and it never 'bent'.

Did any of the bracing or trusses underneath break (or are broken)?

In the end you made this statement:

It's plastic.  When plastic heats, it gets pliable.  Could be the combination of outside heat, body heat, and weight that all contributed to the bowing. I've had mine for about 3 years now and even though I weigh a lot less now, when I was big I didn't have any problems.  The product is sturdy and strong. My grandkids beat the crap out of it with no damage.

I think you might have just got one that had a flaw. It happens.

And like Dylan said, give customer service a call. They'll take care of you.

I'm only about 185, but I experienced the same issue with the rolling seat and discussed the issue with the manufacturer. They were very freindly and actually sent me a replacement seating/shelf to replace mine. The replacement is almost virtually identical to the original in terms of flexibility, but at least I know why it does what it does now.

The HDPE shelves in the black color are manufactured using 100% regrind material which is in keeping with our green statement where we are trying to be responsible in working with our products and the environment.  The % of regrind or recycled material has a large part of what is happening with the flexibility of the shelf.  There should be some flexibility to the material and it should bow somewhat.  This is also the same situation with the rigidly of the shelves.

Not having a photo of what you are referring to as severely bowed makes it is a little difficult to say to what degree the bowing is normal or not.  I have seen some shelves that I could stand on and they would be like a mini trampoline which would be too flexible for the application and I have also seen some shelves that when dropped would shatter.  Both of these situations are to the extreme side and are not seen very often.

Hi Dylan. I checked the bottom and no nothing is cracked. I figure Rich is right and the hot summer day may have helped it to bend like it did. I tried a fix idea, I hung it from hooks in the garage for awhile and now the bend is a lot less, to the point I don't see light between the seat pad and the top any more. I guess if I hang it up between uses it could be ok. After reading Jims post about the HDPE haveing recycled stuff in it replacing the top is probably a waste of time.

I didn't buy the cart from you, but from a dealer of yours who was selling them at Moparfest this summer, a local car show. This dealer is a far drive away so it's isn't worth it to take it back to him when a replacement would probably do the same thing. Thanx for the refund offer anyway. The cart is really useful and I suppose if I sit near the side more directly over the posts it won't bend as much.
