Americana Paste Wax Question

Defib

Question

Hey, I'm considering trying Americana and Buttery wax but I really dislike waxes that leave a lot of white residue behind when they dry. Should I be concerned with white residue left behind from these products? I've been using P21S on my Carbon Black X5M because dries almost clear. What can I expect with Adams products? Thx

Detail Spray won't have any negative impact on your coating of wax, the only thing we discourage is using them too close together time wise. Do not use DS to aid in the removal of wax residues, and avoid it for at least a few minutes after application and don't use it to prime the applicator. There have been some cases where the DS and Americana have a little spat and end up looking cloudy.

Once the wax is fully cured then theres absolutely no problem using DS over it.

if your going to be cleaning your ride daily, i would suggest WW and about a dozen WW towels!

Adam's Waterless Car Wash Combo

you can follow that with the DS and a single soft towel as many time you want without degrading the wax!

Thanks Ryan,

That's what I have been doing every day so far, when the temps locally get to the point when I can two bucket and a hose wash on the driveway I will then most likely follow with the detail spray. I have a load of Adams waffle towels and stack of Adams and Zaino buffing towels.

I always know an easy way to tell if my wax is holding up is the beading when it's wet...if it looks the same as when it first got wet after you last waxed. It's hard to tell what type of harsh soaps the auto washes are using.

I understand that may not answer your question, but this would affect the outcome in this instance, should the auto wash have degreasers and the like in their soap.

Thanks Michael, so you are saying I will not lose the gloss of the wax by spraying many coats of DS on top?

It's been a long time since I have used Carnauba type of top coats. In the late 60's early 70's I used the really hard to master orginal Blue Coral then switching to the profession line of Meguiar's Mirror Glaze products durning the late 70's thru the 90's.

Thanks again,

Tom

I don't believe the DS will deteriorate the Americana, but if Dylan doesn't chime in I would suggest shooting an email to tips@adamspolishes.com, or give them a call to be sure.

First off, Welcome Tom!

You should not have a problem using DS that often.

I'm new to Adams, bought the full Ultimate kit, but I'm not new to detailing. For the past 10 years or so been using all of the Zaino products, and have been very happy with them. Just last week got a 2012 CTS Black Raven Sports Wagon and wanted to try Adams products and also use the Porter Cable system.ffice:office" /><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p>

My question is after I go though all of the steps polishing and then apply the top coat of Americana Wax, should I still use the Adams detail spray often for added gloss and protection. Or will the detail spray lessen the high gloss effect of the Carnauba wax?<o:p></o:p>

The reason I ask this is that I almost daily have used the Zaino detailing spray on my past vehicles, I like to keep my cars detailed with the highest possible gloss daily.<o:p></o:p>

I live just north of the Detroit area, so winter machine polishing and Carnauba waxing is not much of an option right now. But I have used Adams Waterless Carwash after running my CTS through a touch-less car wash 6 times in the past 6 days and followed up with Adams detail spray and so far been very happy with the results. <o:p></o:p>

Thanks in advanced,<o:p></o:p>

Yes, this is what I'm referring to.

So you're asking both?

If you get it on trim, it won't necessarily turn white, but it will leave a residue. Its easily removed with a little APC. The best method to prevent it is to keep it off the trim in the first place.

As far as the powdery residue or being difficult to remove, no. Not an issue so long as its applied correctly.

A hard paste like Americana should be applied VERY thinly... if you notice excessive residues then you've probably applied it too thick. Also don't make the mistake of applying hard paste to the entire car then removing... if it sets up that long it becomes much harder to remove. We recommend you work 2 panels at a time... apply to 2 panels, then remove. Apply to the next 2 panels, then remove, etc.

You basically need to remove the wax just after it hazes up, not minutes later. The longer it sits, the harder it becomes to remove.

are you buffing the wax off with a towel after it has had time to dry?

no wax leaves white residue unless you missed a spot when removing it with a towel. if your talking about residue left on plastic/rubber trim pieces, that is easily removed with some APC and a microbiber towel. one of the newer products that can be applied to just about everything without residue is the new QS.

click the "detailing videos" at the top of this forum and watch the one on waxing. you will see how easy it is to apply/remove Adam's waxes :pc:

I let the wax dry to a haze and I wipe it off by hand with a microfiber towel. With difficult to remove waxes such as Griots, i'll use a microfiber pad on a portercable to get it off.

There are plenty of products out there that stick like glue and dry to a chalky consistency. It seems like Adams isnt one of them...

I have Americana which is easily removed from the paint when put on in a thin coat. Detail Spray will quickly remove any left over on the paint. On plastic/vinyl trim that is too close to the paint, I tape it first. I don't have Buttery, but my understanding is it will not leave residue on trim.

Not with Americana. I've never used Buttery, so I can't comment.

Americana is to die for!!! Easy on, easy off.
