Happy Easter to all!:grouphug:

Many will celebrate Easter this weekend with colored eggs, candy and bunnies, but we must not forget the truth behind Easter. Easter is a time to Rejoice! Jesus Christ died on the cross for EVERYONE'S sins so that one day we could be with our Heavenly Father. On the third day, he rose again from the dead. This is the Good News that Christians celebrate, His Resurrection! He is ALIVE! And one day our Savior will return.

So it's not about bunnies and chocolate eggs?

:) The tradition of Easter eggs comes from European Pagan traditions, when eggs in spring represented the new life that came forth after the long winter. In Christianity, this symbolism of the egg became understood to represent the resurrection of Jesus: just as a chicken can emerge from an egg, so Jesus emerged from the tomb on Easter Sunday to bring God's new covenant to the people.

First I want to echo the sentiments already expressed. I'm not here to evangelize but to offer somewhat of a different viewpoint. You are free to accept or reject as you see fit.

Some have made Easter to be a celebration of Father taking Christ behind the woodshed and beating Him to a bloody pulp for our sins. Perhaps we need to pause and see how that is counter to the Father of Love. Jesus said if you see Me you see the Father. So how do we have a Father that inspires fear on one hand and a Christ that inspires love and joy on the other? Something is amiss, no? Further, if we believe this tension it is hard to have a relationship with the Father, as opposed to the Son. The leaves us with a fractured relationship with our Creator.

Additionally this focus on sin not only has us trying to do "sin management" but has us trying to curry favor from an angry God. This leads to perfectionist performance (what can we do to please Him?), as opposed to accepting the free gift He/They have offered... and to rest secure in the knowledge of the Love They have for us, right where we are, today!

Have a peek at 2 Corinthians 5:18, it speaks of the Father reconciling Himself THROUGH Jesus. Have a think at who hid from Whom in the Garden, think about what independence from the Father caused in man, and how Jesus rectified the path back to total dependence. Think about the Second Adam appearing in another garden after His resurrection, very poignant and fitting footnote to His completed work!

The Good News believers celebrate is the reconciliation made possible by Jesus removing the obstacle that independence (from Adam) had caused between man and the Father. In taking sin (independence) to the grave He laid the foundation for an unfettered relationship with a God that loves us, unconditionally.... we are now His friends and co-heirs to His kingdom!

Now THAT is some Good News! And this new relationship can bear fruit in all those that chose it, the unconditional love in this encounter will spill over to all your other relationships, freeing you from worry, fear, and any sense of guilt or shame. This is my (belated) Easter wish for all those that read this!

Happy Easter indeed!

Thats alot of thinking for so early in the morning. I need more coffee.

Confusing the masses is essentially how organized religion is successful.
