Out-of-state speeders aren't so bad; at least they some without points!

The trooper just did his job. He was a true professional. He cut me a break on the speed by 2 mph and saved me some money. It's all good.

Anton, your a better person than me! I would have gone off the deep end!

Lol! Don't think I didn't want to. Experiences in life have taught me that I'm only going to hurt myself & those that love me.

But it sure would have felt good jumping on that car from the front bumper to the rear and then back up front. :P

This happens to me a lot when I drive my Lexus, I never park it close to anyone but maybe 60% of the time I come out to another car parked beside it..sometimes I think some people are just being jerks about it to piss us off, not actually causing damage but making us worry intentionally and sometimes its just another nice car wanting to protect their ride as well...however as a few pics showed them doing so...It REALLY REALLY REALLY PISSES me off those drivers with nice cars or not crossing the lines and taking up 2 spaces...even if its far away, dude you are BEGGING someone to key it!! Park in the FRACKIN LINES!!! You are not high and mighty or special because you have a nice car nor do you deserve some kind of special treatment A-hole..park in the bloody lines, otherwise you're begging to be screwed with!

What this thread is about, at its core, is common courtesy..courtesy to not smash you door into another car, courtesy not to envy what someone else has worked (or not) hard for etc..if you expect that common courtesy from others then first show it yourself!! And don't park your stupid Corvette or any other car where it takes up 2 spots even if its 200yds away from the door..quite frankly it makes you look like a self-centered loathing prick..and as I said, dude you're asking for it for being so smug as to be "better than everyone else"

All that said..When I drive my Lexus I park far away, but I make sure I'm in the lines of that designated parking spot...and when I drive my beater, even though I couldn't care less for it, I take EXTRA care not to dig any other car when getting in or out of mine.

Conduct yourselves how you'd want to be treated...regardless of others actions towards you, or what others do..doing that inspires change..cutting the corners (literally or figuratively) just side steps the problem at its core and you change absolutely nothing!

Not trying to preach or anything...just stating what others may see and just saying if I see a car that's KNOWING taken up 2 spots away because its a nice sports car or whatever...hate saying this on here...but I hope it gets screwed with, last time I checked we're all free men created equal, and you have no more "potential" than I do..so don't lump yourself in on the road into the "special treatment" crowd

end rant

Sometime it isn't about taking 2 spots to take 2 spots. I have gone places where the spots are painted for your average size car. Not a full size 4 door Duramax. The wife especially has a hard time parking in lots like this so we will intenionally park out in the north 40 and take up 2 spots if need be. Half the time it is so long that the tail end will hang out well into the stall behind anyhow. And no, not all parking lots are painted this way, but a fair amount are. There are times where she has been driving and can't get it parked do to the way the parking lot is set up and I have to park it for her. I can see where some in larger vehicles would have this issue.

:iagree:

Parking spots are too small for many vehicles today, and it isn't just the large vehicles either. Since my Bride got the Vette I now realize that some low cars like this require the doors to be fully open so you can get out without crawling out on your knees or potentially scraping the seats or car finish. Even though I understand why someone wants to park in two spots, I don't do it myself as I don't want to attract undue attention, but just park way away from others.

To the OPs point, I also see this happen fairly often, come out to my car parked in the 'back 40' with nothing around it and another car is parked right next to mine. Usually it is another car that appears to be taken care of.

This is why I point blank refuse to park my Calais in any form of parking lot, or even angle parking for that matter. If someone can park next to me, I avoid parking there full stop. I parallel park it on occasion, but try and get an "exclusive" spot, between driveways for example. If I know I will be parking somewhere like this, I take the DD instead.... the Calais was built for driving anyway, not parking :burnout:

Anton - I had a bloke do this to me one day, exactly the same except my car had a tow bar (trailer hitch in the US?). He'd parked me in good and proper by doing this, and I had no way of getting out..... so, with much protesting from my girlfriend at the time, I simply used my tow bar as a pushing tool and "gently" moved his car back far enough so I could get out

Also, in your first pic, aside from your predicament, look at the centre car across the road. How is he meant to get out of there?!?!

I'd say we have yet another worldwide problem here, I wonder if the UN might come up with some sort of "resolution" to help us out :jester:

Amen. I'm a car/detail fan as much as anyone else. I can't stand when people do that....even though it doesn't affect me, it just bugs me.

1. You're drawing unneeded attention to yourself.

2. From Ford Escort to Porche GT3. It's illegal.

3. You're not special.

Lol! Using the tow bar to "help" that driver is something I'm sure I would have done. Although, I doubt my lady would have protested. :D

Good eye, I hadn't even noticed the cars across the street in my 1st picture. That Volvo(?) in the middle is going nowhere.

Oh, and to keep on topic with the OP, I think it all depends on the appearance of the ride parking next to me. I see this a lot in my area. If the vehicle next to me went out of his/her way to park next to me I only hope that they are just as concerned about the appearance of their vehicle as I am. But we'll never know....unless we sit in our car and wait for the owner to come out to ask them. How's got time to do that lol!

Vince and Dave:

I think you guys are being a little harsh :). Just like you can't just assume that someone parking close to you is trying to piss you off, you can't assume things about someone who takes up 2 spots. I do it sometimes (as evidenced by one of my pictures posted earlier) but I assure you I am not in any of the described categories (not self-centered, do not feel I'm better than anyone else, and am in no way trying to be disrespectful to anyone!)

IF I do this, it's because the spaces are small, I park WAAAY away from everyone else and ONLY if there is plenty of room for the duration of my car's stay there.

But your point is well taken. I have never thought of it that way, but it could happen that someone thinks like you and may decide to do "something illegal" to my car. Thanks for pointing that out. I like to think that people here in CO are a little more laid back in terms of that but you never know.

What I ALWAYS try to do is find what I call a "premium" parking spot. That would be a spot that is bigger than the others, or that otherwise has extra room to avoid damage from opening doors. I should start taking some pictures of those spots around town and put together a tutorial :jester:

It's a double edge sword.

Here are two examples of idiots.

1) assigned parking. Yet he parks here: (ps....it is leaned on my hatch. Didn't even use kickstand)

2) I parked away as far as possible....I could only open my door one foot. My roommate who is skinny as hell claimed in.

Hard to tell in that top pic, but those handlebars look awful close. Some people are just dumb. I would have moved it to a parking spot down the way and left it. That bottom pic is exactly my point why some take up two spots in the north 40. They make them for "smart cars" not a regular car. Taking 2 up front is uncalled for, but if you do it in the back of the lot and the lot isn't full, I personally see no harm.

Are you serious with this reaction or is this sarchasm????

The guy wanted to park beside another nice car for the same reasons car guys have been doing it for years.

1) It looks cool

2) You feel like you are protecting each other from others that dont appreciate your car as much as you do

3) You figure the owner of the car wont mind because he will know you took extreme care while parking and getting out

If I had come out and a Chally was parked next to me I would take a picture and post a positive thread about how cool it was, not ***** and moan and over-dramatize the situation.

I mean lets be honest here, its not like your in a Lambo, its a V6 pony car...

Situations like this could be very positive, say you meet the guy and strike up a conversation and end up being friends with common interests...dont just assume the guy is an idiot because he parked within 5 feet of you.

Just my $0.02, no offense.

Maybe its just a difference in culture, in the south we appreciate things like this.

I disagree, I'm totally with the OP on this one.

It doesn't matter what kind of car it was, the guy parked too close IMO

He could have left some room, I would be pissed too. I've had this happen before and I just know some day I'm going to lose it on some idiot.

I'm very short tempered and if the guy came out, I would have 100% said something to him.

People that park their cars on angles as if they are avoiding getting dinged, I'll purposefully squeeze my POS little Nissan Frontier into the spot next to them.

Then don't be surprised when your tires are flat...especially around me!

Is there any real need to escalate something so trivial? The lines are painted so close together in the OP that if all cars were the size of Smart cars, there would be plenty of room between them. As long as there is no damage to my car it would not matter. If there was, then something needs to be said.

Those bars are on my truck. He used my SS as a kickstand. I just laid it down and filed complaint with manager of apt complex.
