GPDAN
So guys and gals, here is my submission. This spring I decided it was time to get my garage clean make some space to drive my car in there and work on it. Well.....while digging through tons of old junk and organizing other things, I came across this old platter my parents purchased many years ago. This thing has been sitting on the floor piled under boxes in a corner. After examining it, I knew this would be the perfect subject for the Detail Something Different Contest... Here it is right after I pulled it out from its decade long resting place: Some up close shots of the caked on dust or you can even call it patina at this point: As you can see, there is no shine at all on this bad boy. My plan of attack was to first hit the platter with some green wheel cleaner with the foaming sprayer to help clean some of the grime off it: Here is the green wheel cleaner doing some work: After an intial spray down with the hose you can see where the green wheel cleaner did some work: Now it was time to hit the platter with some good ole elbow grease. I used some water and tad of all purpose cleaner to do a proper cleaning on the platter: Even after cleaning with APC and a sponge/brush there was still some grime left over: You can see right here there was 0 reflection on the platter: The first initial wipes with metal polish: Some test areas completed on the platter: Looks like the metal polish may have met its match: Finally! Some signs of improvement! This is after a lot of elbow grease. But still not finished: AND INSERT AC/DC BACK IN BLACK SONG HERE BAM! WAITOR, I WILL TAKE SOME SHINE WITH MY DETAIL SPRAY!! YOUR DETALING SUPPLIES ARE NOW SERVED... THESE WERE THE STEPS I TOOK TO SAVE THIS GUY: 1. Green Wheel Cleaner 2. Wash with APC and elbow grease 3. Metal Polish 4. A lot of sweat 5. Revive Polish 6. Brilliant Glaze 7. Buttery Wax THANKS FOR LOOKING
