Just a quick update..

my Wife went for a test last month which gave us some pretty tough results.. basically the Doctor said my Wife's eggs were equivalent to a 40 year olds.. However, she said to have the same test done the following month.. this months test proved much better.. they're 'normal' now..

we still have no idea why we can't conceive, but the next step appears to be IVF.. we have an appointment with the Doctor to discuss moving forward with it next week..

My insurance lapses 12/31/12 and on 01/01/13 we can call my Wife's benefits people and go on hers.. It's still going to cost a pretty penny between the deductibles and whatnot, as well as the Doctor is considered 'out of network'.. None of this will matter if it works!

I wish the best for you and your wife. My wife and I just started trying and constantly wonder why some people can pop out kids every year and individuals like ourselves aren't able.

The one thing I would recommend; if the provider your using is out of network, talk to a claims specialist to see if you can get the out of network treatment treated as in network so you pay in network copays/coinsurances instead of out of network. Simply ask for exception to use the out of network provider. If you choose to do this, I would also try to do it through email because its fastest and you have a paper trail. If you call, make sure you get reference numbers EVERYTIME you call. If you're writing an email I would explain why you have to use this out of network provider over in network. Most insurance companies are willing to work, just keep your cool. Remember the people making the decisions are real people just like you and I.

You know "trying" to have kids is part of the issue when we were trying nothing happened for about 4 yrs and then we stopped I just enjoyed the practice and then boom pregnant lol

Its been about two years now..

Did you guys actually stop? I don't see how we could ever stop trying.. It will always be on our minds..

just a quick update:

We were scheduled to start the process for February's Cycle and a couple weeks ago, Kim was a couple days late so she took an at home test. It showed positive, we were EXTREMELY excited..

Well, a few days later, Aunt Flow arrived.. Her Gyno said it was a Chemical Pregnancy and most likely her body 'rejected' the egg as if it were a bad one..

So we continued onto the IVF process and went to the training class. The following day we had our 'GO' meeting with the doctor. After meeting with her, the billing department from the fertility center meet with us and told us that there was not much to be covered even with my Wife's new plan that we just switched to and that they were out of network..

SO, after my Wife spent a lot of time on the phone with our insurance company, we decided that we are going to try a different place that is in network, even though we already spent a lot of money prior to switching insurance with the first place, and were very comfortable with the people there..

The insurance company said that we have to go through three rounds of IUI before they would approve trying IVF.. We booked an appointment with the new place and the earliest we could get is next week, which means we will most likely miss this next cycle..

Anyways, I will update this thread as we learn more..
