Stripes

I'm getting a 2011 camaro soon, red with the black stripes. I've read alot about taping the edges of the stripes when waxing or polishing, but I don't fully understand. Does that mean the stripes don't get waxed or polished at all? Whats the purpose? Thanks

Depends on what you want to accomplish.  I polish my stripes so I don't have to tape over them.  If you don't want to polish them then you need to tape them off.  Gives you a buffer zone for the pad and keeps polish out of the crease.

Taping the sides of the strip also keeps it from popping up or tearing.  If they are painted on, it is not as important, unless they do not have clear on them.

My brother has an SS Camaro like yours and those stripes are a pain. But he washes and waxes them same as the rest of the car......by hand. No machine.
