New Jeep owner from Tennessee

Hi! My husband and I are picking up a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee tomorrow and would like some advice on how to best keep it looking nice. We have some Adams products on order and are looking forward to getting it shined up. We have ordered the wax kit that has the wax, glaze and microfiber cloth. Also ordered the detail spray, shampoo, and also the sealer. Which order should we use these? And what is the best way to take care of shiney black wheels? I know lots of questions. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome Shelly, sounds like you are on the right track with the products you have on order. I would suggest that you watch the video's to Learn more about the proper use of the products. Then we will be more than happy to answer any of your questions. What color are you getting?

Congrats on your new Jeep!

First off, Welcome!  And congrats on the new Jeep!

We have ordered the wax kit that has the wax, glaze and microfiber cloth. Also ordered the detail spray, shampoo, and also the sealer. Which order should we use these?

With what you have ordered:

  • Clean wheels, tires, and wheel wells
  • Wash and dry - use DS to help dry
  • Apply LPS and remove
  • Apply BG and remove
  • Apply Americana - do NOT do more than 2 panels at a time!!
  • get some sunglasses and step back and be amazed by the shine!

And what is the best way to take care of shiney black wheels?

Since they are new you should only need Car Wash Shampoo to clean them.

  • Mix up the Car Wash solution, get an empty spray bottle and use a cup to fill it from the solution.  Spray that on the wheels - If you have foaming spray nozzle that works even better.

OR

  • Mix up a small amount of Car Wash solution in a bucket and use that for the wheel cleaning

Apply LPS to keep them looking nice

Use APC to clean the tires and wheel wells.

Hey guys thanks for all the helpful tips.  Michael, thanks for giving us the order in which to use the products.  That was a great help!  Am going to watch the videos to make sure we use them right.  We live in Johnson City, TN.  That's in the eastern part of Tennessee.  Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.  It's going to be a rainy weekend so it will be a perfect time to bring it in the garage and shine it up.  Will try to take before and after photos to post.

We just the Jeep home! We love it. I have a couple of other questions. I'm typing this from an iPad How do you post pictures? And the other question is, since this is a brand new vehicle, do we have to do a strip wash before we glaze/wax? Is dawn detergent ok to use for this?

Congrats!

Most use a photo hosting site (photobucket.com, etc.) to upload pictures to, then copy the link into the post.

Dawn is ok for use occasionally, but Adam's recommends adding 2-3 oz. of APC to your Car Wash Shampoo solution for the strip wash..

Thank you everyone! Have gotten some very useful tips. After watching a lot of the videos today I ordered the all purpose cleaner, interior cleaner, and the waterless wash kit. I already have some clay, not Adams brand but we are going to use this up before replacing so will use that also.post-12077-0-16888300-1405828973_thumb.jpg

Here's a picture of our new Jeep. Will take some better pictures when it quits raining and we can get outside to take some. Will take some more after we get to use the products.

On your next order: Adams Glass Cleaner, Adams Glass Sealant, Adams Undercarriage Spray.

Trust me you will like the glass cleaner around the house.

Also looks like somone has more work cut out for them the car and bike too.

Dieseldude, yea it's like a sickness, once you get started you can't stop. lol  There's another bike and a truck that you can't see in the picture.  My hubby loves it that I'm getting interested in detailing.  The only detailing I've done until now is drive to the local car wash and hand over the keys.

YIKES....You will give us nightmares just saying that.  Look how many cars / trucks /suv have went thru the car wash before you.

Sorry didn't mean to scare you. Lol. Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes and all of the helpful tips and advice. The only thing we have had a chance to use so far is the detail spray, all I can say is-awesome! Will add the glass products to our next order.
