Adams product and Steamer

I just recently bought a McCulloch MC1385 Deluxe Canister Steam System. Is it safe to spray Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner to help start breaking up the stains before using the steamer?

Yes absolutely.  I do this on my couches, I spray the surface down then go over it with the steamer for more effective cleaning power.

 

Then when done I wipe down with a damp MF towel to soak up any residues and dirt that was extracted.

 

You PROBABLY could use a bit of C&U cleaner in the steam machine as well, but I would imagine you'd have to heavily dilute it.

Yep.  I use diluted Carpet and Upholstery cleaner on  my carpets in our steam cleaner.  Works great.

Are you using it in place of another cleaner or in addition to? What ratio?

Also what are your thoughts on this particular steamer for cleaning automotive fabrics?

It should work great, but its not an extractor.
