Adam's Americana Goes To Cavallino

Hi Gang!  Many of you may need (or want) to fire up the ol' Google for this one.  It's a 1974 DeTomaso Longchamp.  Yes, a close cousin of the Pantera, similar concept.  Take an Italian designed car, outfit it with a Ford V8 and drivetrain along with a bunch of other custom goodies and you've got a pretty rare hot rod.  Interior was by Maserati.

This particular car is very rare in that is was the only one ever built with "health monitoring" circuitry......think modern car with sensors and idiot lights for everything.  No TPMS in 1974 but just about everything else is monitored and has a warning light on the dash.

I began servicing the car about a year ago and although in very nice condition, it needed some TLC, overall cleaning, some paintwork to address some sort of staining under the clear at a couple of places, some leather dying, a good multi-step polish, wheels polished and engine bay detail.  I was able to get those things and a few others rectified to bring this little guy back to full glory.

The car recently took First in Class at the Pittsburgh Grand Prix Concours

and as a result of that exposure and the owner meeting some key people, got a special invitation to attend and show it at the 2015 Cavallino Ferrari event in Palm Beach Florida.  I was unable to tag along due to work load and don't have pictures from the event yet, but here are some shots from a quick touch up I did prior to it leaving for Florida.

The "touch-up" consisted of:

Metal #2 on the wheels (full polish was done on a prior visit)

Tire Shine on the tires

Rinseless (as waterless) Wash/ Detail Spray, VRT, In and Out in engine bay

One pass Paint Finishing Polish just to brighten things up a bit  (full paint correction was done on a prior visit)

A fresh coat of Americana Paste Wax

ENJOY!

Darryl, you are The Man.   By the way, I never knew one existed, but now, I want a DeTomaso Longchamp.  Always wanted a Pantera, but this car is more awesome in my eyes, especially since I could put a couple of kiddos in the back seat!

Let me know if this guy considers a sale.....I might have the right butt for the driver's seat!!

Wow.  I always just associated DeTomaso with the most excellent Pantera...I had no idea this car exists...and I consider myself a gearhead...pfffhhh.  The rear quater/roofline reminds me of a cooler version of a notch back foxbody Mustang.

Very sweet car indeed, thank you for sharing!
