Where can I go?

To get a used polisher? I have a cheap one from harbor freight that may do the job. But I believe all the pads require a 5" backing plate correct? The polisher I have has a 6" backing plate. Help? Or maybe I should juse get a new backing plate?

This forum, used polishers pop up all the time in the classifieds. There is a flexible 3401 for sale now, and cyclos seem to pop up every once in a while

Adams sells backing plates.  Whether or not they would fit on what you have already, I don't know.  I'm sure if you called them and asked they would be able to tell you.

I have 2 Harbor Freight polishers. One has a 3" plate an one has a 5" plate. They work but they have a lot of vibration. The only reason I haven't purchased a nice Rupes is the price.

The one I have has a 6" backing plate. May try to put a 5" plate on it.
