Drying Towel Technique

CamaroFanatic

Question

So was just wanting to see people's technique when using the white drying towel? Do you dry in a circular motion or in straight lines as you would do when using the waterless wash? I am thinking it is best to do it in straight lines, after blowing off excess water and spraying with detail spray?

I first use my leaf blower to get the majority of the water off plus in those areas that hold water. I then do all the glass area then start at the top and work down (same as i wash). I never do circular motion, but straight back and forth gentle passes. The white towels really absorb a lot of water, so you really don't need to use a lot of force.

As for the Waterless Wash, same thing. Spray an area (top first) and wipe in one direction, again a lot of pressure is not needed. It usually requires two to three of the blue waffle towels on this procedure. Whereas after a normal shampoo I only need one white waffle drying towel, that does not include drying the wheels, tires, wheel wells and exhaust, those get dried with a different towel.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p>

First when you do your final rinse take your nozzel off of your hose and flood the soap off. The water will sheet off. Then I use a water blade to get the worst off. Then I spray the whole car down with Detail Spray. Last I use the white drying towel in straight lines.:burnout:

As long as you keep it clean you won't have a problem. Also the DS acts like lube. I don't rub real hard, just get the worst off.

You've seen my Black Pontiacs, I wouldn't use one if it scratched my paint.

thats why i was extremely confused lol...thanks for the info!

I'm not pushing a competitors product but Griots water blade is less app to scratch the surface and it doesn't skip and jump.

It's one of the only things of his I have. If Adam had one, I'd buy his. :(

Stupid question: Why dry the glass first? I usually start with the roof since the water runs down onto the glass again anyways.

I think because of spots and because the towel is dry and won't leave any film. I just water blade off the windows and then start on the car.

After I wash the car I back it into the cool garage (out of the sun light)

I take my great white drying towel and hold it on one end as I gently drag it over the corvette.

This towel dries my vette in approx. 5 minutes.

The windows and the sides of the body need alittle tender loving rub with the towel in order to capture 100% of the water.

Then I use my air compressor to blow out the residue water from my mirrors, lights. etc. (this takes approx. 15 minutes)
