Been trying to decide for a while what color to paint my calipers. I really didn't want to do black because it hides them too much imo, but in the end I'm glad I did.

    Started out rusty and red

Gave all the wheels a good cleaning while they were off the car

Added a decal for that added touch

So happy the rust and red is gone!

Howdy! I'm new to detailing. As an owner of a new 2014 Ford Focus ST (Tuxedo Black), though, it's something I want to educate myself about quite a bit. This is also my first new car, I was always a used car guy before now.

Clean Tips as they should be.

I didn't polish the wheels with Revive or anything, but the DWC/QS combo really brightened them up.  Notice the SVRT on the rear valance.

ONE PASS of the Cyclo with each polish took all those swirls out.  I am impressed still.

I paint signs and sometimes people get a little carried away with the silicone and it gets on areas I need to paint. The best way I have gotten silicone off is to rub it fairly aggressively with my finger until it all crumbles off, then wipe the area with wax and grease remover (like ppg dx330)to get the greasy residue off. Of coarse I'm working with bare aluminum and not a painted surface. Good luck!

    Hello Adam's Nation!

Complete NOOB to this OCD Detailing craze...need a lil' help.

I read good things about the PC7424XP (solid noob machine) and The Flex VC3401 (more ballz for the correctioneers - not as good for applying sealants/polishes) - so what have you heard of the "Rupes Bigfoot DA" and the "Shurhold DA's"?

Also, I see Adam's stocks polishes, creams, sealants...however some "Packages" that contain the PC XP DA have it grouped with "Wolfgangs", "Meguiars" and "PoorBoys" as examples. Does anyone have experiences with these?

Lastly, I have a 2009 Acura - Charcoal Metallic Grey...NO deep scratches, nor swirls - looks immaculate but looking like it needs a good ol' shine n polish. NOT looking to go into the Detailing biz "retail" just a weekend warrior looking to keep his ride looking tight and right.

Need help/suggestions on the DA machine and Polishes/Creams/Pads to get me going.

    Thanks in advance,

    1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427/400 Convertible

    Year: 1967
    Make: CHEVROLET
    Model: CORVETTE 427/400
    Style: CONVERTIBLE
Exterior Color: TUXEDO BLACK - RED STINGER HOOD
    Interior Color: RED

Honestly, where do I start with this one?!?! Let me bring you back to late June when I was working on the Supercharged Suburban detail. My client stops by the "Detailing Stables" to check out the work I was completing, however there seem to be something a little more animated in his attitude when we were talking. Then it comes out, he tells me he just purchased a new classic to add to his collection.

The car was originally purchased in New Jersey and shortly after it was relocated down to Florida where it lived it's life and was rarely driven. Now fast forward to last year in 2012 when my client hears about a rare all numbers matching original Corvette with working factory air conditioning for sale. The car was restored about 8 years ago and was kept all original except for convertible top and then repainted. Unfortunately the price was not agreeable and the owner was apparently not going to budge too much. Then spring of 2013 rolls around and the owner decides he needs to let the Corvette go and contacts my client again to revitalize the negotiations. Well I guess things worked out for both of them or maybe just my client, since he tells me about this rare American classic that is being loaded on a transporter and headed up to Connecticut in a few days.

I couldn't wait for this car to arrive myself. Just so much beauty and history around this car. My client expresses to me that before he even takes it for a drive he wants me to lay down some Adam's Polishes on it to make it look proper. Well I couldn't have been more honored with such a task. The Corvette arrived on July 3rd and I was busy on the Ford F-350 Super Duty detail, however I knew I had to proceed immediately to inspect this car for myself when I could. So as I pulled into the driveway, there in the garage was this drop dead sexy black convertible Corvette.

With my Project Patriot wax just arriving and America's birthday just hours ahead I felt it was only right to detail this Corvette the morning of the 4th of July and complete it on the following day before it debuts at the weekly cruise night in our area.

    WHEELS - TIRES - WASH

With all the classic cars I get to work on, the washing process is always the most delicate. You don't want to cause damage to emblems, paint, convertible tops and water leaking into the interior when using a pressure washer or just simply a standard hose. I always make sure to inspect the areas around the windows and doors to make sure everything is sealed tight, or need to be taped off. For this Corvette, there was some gaps between the top of the glass to the convertible top that I would have allowed for water to reach the interior. A little Adam's Professional Detailer's Masking Tape would do the trick.

Then it came time to focus on the wheels and tires. They were in really good condition, but also required a little time and patience to get all the spokes cleaned up just right.

When it came down to washing and knowing there were some gaps that could cause concern, I avoided foaming the Corvette. Instead it would be just a good ole classic 2 Bucket Wash system with the wash pads.

    CLAYING - TAPE - INSPECTION

After getting the Vette dried off and tires dressed it was time to move her inside and begin the clay bar process to remove any and all contaminants on the paint before polishing.

Up next would be the task of taping off all the emblems, stripes and any trim that may cause damage to the polishing pads or transfer polishing residues onto them, which causes unnecessary added time to clean.

Then it was time to turn out the lights to inspect what I was going to be up against with the correction process. With anyone who's worked on any Corvettes, they can be tough to really get right, but with the Adam's PCP and PFP with the microfiber cutting and finishing pads I was confident. I will let everyone know that I was not only using the Rupes for this. I kept the Flex on hand as well since I find that I can achieve certain results better with each machine, and of course the PC was right there with the 4" Focus Pads to get into all the smaller and tight areas of the paint.

PAINT CORRECTION POLISH & PAINT FINISHING POLISH RESULTS

Overall the correction process went as expected with a black paint and on a Corvette. I only had to make two passes with PCP on certain areas of the rear end and around the hood. The rest of the panels received great results with on pass of PCP. From there one pass of PFP was put down on the entire vehicle.

BRILLIANT GLAZE - PROJECT PATRIOT ULTRA PREMIUM PASTE WAX

After the polishing process was completed and the Vette got a wipe down with some IPA, it was time to proceed with the LSP's. Up first was the always awesome Brilliant Glaze. I've mentioned before that I love to switch back and forth to applying by hand or machine. Today was by hand. I think in part to falling in love with this car I wanted to spend as much time possible getting her shined up just right.

    Time for some Patriot action!

And a few indoors results shots to tease you with.....

    INTERIOR

Did you really think I would keep going to the outdoor results before sharing the process on the interior??? Well I'll keep it short and sweet since there wasn't much to be done with the interior on this one. All it consisted of was a vacuum and wipe down with Total Interior Detailer followed up with some Glass Cleaner.

    THE RESULTS....

Well, after 12 hours of working on this Corvette I knew this was the one.......This was my #1 favorite vehicle I've had the pleasure of working on out of every car or truck I've completed. And some of these shots will explain my reasons.

A huge THANK YOU to Adam's Polishes products and staff for providing the best car care products to make these jobs happen for me. I am truly grateful for being able to work on such amazing vehicles and they keep coming my way due to the results I'm able to achieve with Adam's products.

    Good Afternoon!

I am sorry I haven't been posting more write ups, I have been very busy and fighting a stomach bug at the same time.  Let's try and get caught up!  Here we have a Shelby Mustang Hertz Edition.  The owner came to me in preparation for The Rocky Mountain Mustang Round-Up, and needed an exterior detail.  This included paint decontamination, paint correction, metal polishing, engine bay clean and dress, etc.

Here is what it looked like when it showed up...

The sky was a bit overcast, but I could see through the dirt that I would have my work cut out for me.

The wheels needed polished, the tires and wheel wells, cleaned and dressed.  Not to mention some rubber needing removed from the rear due to some good ole' racing the night before.

The Exhaust Tips needed cleaned and polished.

As with pretty much any detail I've had come through lately, the wiper cowl was trashed.

You will be able to see the swirl marks soon...

    (Continued...)

I had a little fun this past Saturday over at the "Detailing Stables" where I do most of my work. It's a task my client and I have been meaning to do since early spring, however we just never found enough time. This past weekend we had no other choice. My client was bringing a few of his cars over to a festival at his church and while choosing which ones he wanted to display I mentioned we should take all the cars out off the lifts and let me wash them or wipe them down with Waterless Wash. And he can change the oil on a few of them and just let them purr for a while.

So this past Saturday we met early and began waking up all the neighbors with the sounds of American muscle gracing the air. We covered the driveway with Red White & Blue cars first then unleashed the Corvettes. It was a great morning and funny to watch how much traffic we created on a residential street with people driving by.

I will let the pictures say the rest. Some were from my cell phone and the others from my wife's Nikon.

Just to follow up on this issue...For the past couple weeks I have been trying to separate the towels I have that leave lint from those that work as they should.   I will say that it turns out most of the Adam's microfiber towels I have (which is quite a few!) seem to work fine, with no linting, however  I did end up with a handful that I determined were the linting culprits.

I called Adam's and actually spoke to Dylan personally yesterday.  he was very helpful in assisting with my problem.   I told him that buy all of my Adam's stuff through GPC (Grabiak Performance Center) in New Alexandria, PA.  and he suggested it may be easier to return/exchange my defective towels there, rather than dealing with shipping back and forth to them.   So today I took a ride to GPC and they were super in an immediate and hassle-free exchange for new Adam's microfibers.   The whole staff at GPC are great guys and have ALWAYS been first-class whenever i stop by to shop, and I can't say enough good things about the guys there.

So i just wanted to give kudos to both Adam's  AND to GPC for standing behind their guarantee and for getting me fixed up with some new microfibers.   While I was there I also picked up a bottle of the new Paint Correction and Paint Finishing polishes, and hope to try them out with my new Flex polisher in the near future.   Thanks again for resolving the issue.
