  1. Nice work Shane maybe I'll have to go out and buy the supplies to practice on my dads Jeep.
  2. I noticed when I switched from what I was using before that the car is not as slick feeling. Before I couldn't set a towel on my car without it sliding off. Not to say one is better or worse depending on how slick the car feels but I know what your talking about.
  3. It was my fault I was trying to see what happened when you put too many coats on too close together. I still need to try the cold water thing, haven't done that yet.
  4. Engine bay cleaning is something I don't do much of. How long should I shoot for on an average condition car? I'll have to check out the other sections for tips if it becomes a regular thing for me.
  5. I had some trouble on my black Mustang too.
  6. 10 hours of hard work knowing what your doing is well worth it, paint correction or not. Thanks for the comment Dan. This thread is getting more attention than I thought it would. I've only done a few SUVs and I'm not a fan. The few I've done are in far worse condition than the cars that I do and they are obviously a lot bigger.
  7. That's an adrenalin rush. I put a vid of a cobra out running the police in the why didn't I get pulled over for this thread. Didn't want to post it twice, check it out if you want.
  8. Best mod I ever made to my Mustang. Even if I had a Cobra I would run a KB on it.
  9. It's not an Eaton but you get the idea. <object width="425" height="344"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivGad40FJxo&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></object>
  10. Ford Mustang Cobra Outruns Police!! <object width="425" height="360"> <embed src="http://mediaservices.myspace.com/services/media/embed.aspx/m=34172125,t=1,mt=video" allowfullscreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="360"></object>
  11. I didn't wait long enough in between coats. I got some hazy residue the next day after I tried to put 3 coats on close together. I think it depends on the conditions and how you apply it. As for the pads disintegrating, that's strange, but mine is still doing ok so I'm happy . I've only had to wash it once because it was starting to get little wax balls building up on it.
  12. Wow that's a lot of work, well worth $200. How long did that take you?
  13. It's ok stuff happens. I was an idiot for leaving them on during the winter anyway. Maybe some time I'll post some pics and see if there is anything short of getting new ones that I can do. Also the salt from the winter was pretty harsh on them. They are not staying on this year.
  14. What did you do for the H2s and how long did each thing take you? I'm trying to work faster or more efficiently but it's hard. I'm used to taking my time and making it perfect. I don't want to over charge just because I work slower.
  15. Ya the guiding rails. That if your off by a couple of inches screw up your rims. I could make an insurance claim against the shop, but the cost of the two rims wouldn't be worth my effort at this time.
  16. I was using an automatic touchless wash in the winter but I ended up scraping my driver side rims on some stuff inside the machine because the design is so old it wasn't meant for wide low profile tires. Now I wont even go threw automatic washes. I'm only going to go to the kind where you can spray it off yourself with the pressure washer and I'll only do that in the winter.
  17. I was going to do that but I feel like I can't put it on as thin or even as I can with the applicator pad. I keep my pad in the jar. The only constructive criticism I can think of is that the info sheet inside the jar that keeps the pad off the wax when you store it is always a pain to get out for me. I tried flipping it over, sliding it off, and picking it up with my nails but none work all that well. I would like the info on the sheet to be printed on the outside tub; it's just a preference, no bid deal.
  18. Depends how good you are and how bad the job is but I would think $100 isn't much at all. Right now I try to stay around $25 an hour like Frank said. I keep that in the back of my mind when people ask me how much I would charge. In my mind I ballpark how long it will take to detail and then just multiply it helps to know how bad the job is ahead of time. A larger SUV like that will obviously take longer.
  19. Wish my car was that lucky. Bakes outside my apt during the day and same thing when I'm at work. It also gets to drive in the snow. The only relief it gets is when I put the cover on it.
  20. Great video! The landing on that end jump is so smooth.
  21. I'm coming up Saturday I'll be there early, bringing a friend. Should I just look for the huge detail spray bottle?
