  1. Bob, have you looked into any of the no-rinse (not rinse-less!) products? As much as I love working with the Adam's wash shampoo and wash pad, I have started using a no-rinse product for 'maintenance' washes (light dirt, no bugs or mud). With the bucket, Grit Guard, and plenty of great Adam's MF towels (WW drying and fluffy blue) you have the 'hardware' part already. With just 2 gallons of water you can have a clean car (I like to use the 2 bucket method with this, so 4 gallons of water). You could even wash them in the garage! Not sure if Adam's is planning to offer a no-rinse solution, but it seems to be something that there is need for, especially for folks, like yourself, who face water restrictions.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>
  2. Unfortunately I think most of the waterless wash folks at the gas station don't know any better. While I was washing my truck (with my wonderful pink Adam's soap!) the son-in-law of my neighbors approached me about one of the pump-up type waterless washes. I have been looking into 'low water use' type washing and listened to his pitch. He gave me the website information and when I looked into it, found it is really just a multi-level marketing scam, using the eco-friendly pitch of a waterless wash. If I wanted to be mean, I could follow him around as he did his 'detailing' business, and whip out a halogen light to show the customers that they are getting a 'swirl job' for no extra charge!
  3. I have a Karcher electric pressure washer that I use to clean the siding and soffit's on the house. As 08G8V8 said it does not produce too much pressure, which is why I like using on the siding. I am on the second one; the 4 year-old first one had issues with the gun & wand after loaning it out. I tried to replace gun, but couldn't do it locally. Went to B&J's (where I bought the first one) and got a new one for not much more a replacement gun. When I originally purchased the 1st washer I had problems with the motor, but after exchanging it 3 times it is still working.
  4. Thanks everyone for the comments. Dylan, As you read in the original post your sweet looking ride is part of the reason I am looking to make this mod. Did you have to paint any parts other than the wheels? Also, I'm guessing you used VHT on the taillights? VetteGirl, The tinted windows are not a problem, they are the darkest legal tint I could get. Even the LEO's have tinted windows in Florida!
  5. I had a funnel missing from an order (the Daily Special included one and I ordered an extra). I contacted Ashley and she sent one right out.
  6. Thanks guys, I was forgetting that part!
  7. Hi guys, Having seen how good some of the members rides looked 'blacked out' (Dylan06ss, jub jub, RS) I decided to give photoshop a try and have some before and after of what my truck may look like. I am thinking of having the wheels powder-coated, painting the roof rack (black or charcoal gray), and wrapping the chrome bumpers in vinyl, and maybe painting or wrapping the chrome grill (it is a non-OEM replacement with bubbles in the top edges). As for the step rail, I may take it off or paint to match the roof rack. Let me know what you think! Thanks, Mike BTW, I have added Undercarriage Spray to my collection since these pics were taken! 8. Ok, I'll tell you guys, but you can't pass this along to my wife! I have 4 'old' blue MF, 2 'new' MF towels, 4 WW drying towels, and 20+ warehouse club MF small towels for applying cleaners, wiping door jambs, & for use on the engine. I have 2 large warehouse MF towels that seemed almost as fluffy as the Adam's towels, until I washed them, then not so fluffy. They are the new jamb wipe down towels. The 'good' towels are stored in a square plastic flip top filing box, and the others in smaller containers.
  9. We bought my son a laptop 3 years ago (in fact I'm using it to type this). We got him a cheap Toshiba Satellite A105. It looks the same on the outside as the more expensive ones, but the 'guts' are different. What you get with a cheap laptop is: less battery life (it will now only run for about 5 minutes on the battery), a smaller hard drive, and not much memory. I agree with Junkman that you should get a backup hard-drive for your laptop. Couple of reasons: HDD failure, and you have an extra copy of things you can take with you anywhere. Also, make note of where the power cable plugs in. We are on our 3rd power supply (2nd was a universal model - waste of money). The power connection is on the back and the plug & cord would get 'bent' when my son had the PC on his lap or on the bed. After I got the 3rd power adapter (OEM), we also got a cheap lapdesk (and put a piece of 'pleather' on the top to keep the laptop from slipping) and no more power cord problems. The only I don't like about our Toshiba is the keyboard setup. It does not have a Cntl key on the right side of the keyboard (I believe this is no longer the case). I work with IBM mainframe computers and that is the Enter key on that system! My neighbor recently purchased a 17" HP and it has a 10 keypad, which is nice, but something you may not use.
  10. I got a call this morning at 6:30 that the power is out in our building and won't be back on until at least 10:00. I called all my people and let them know that they can dial-in from home today. I'm "working" from home too, so I guess not much work is getting accomplished!
  11. Devin; I don't actually use the quick disconnect, just the shutoff valve, but yes, the flow from the hose-end is quite thick ("That's what she said" - Michael Scott). If I hold onto the hose below the shutoff valve when I turn the flow back on, the pressure will cause the free flow hose to 'jump' up a little bit, kind of like the kids water toy thingy - http://shopping.msn.com/prices/wigglin-water-sprinkler/itemid860343321/?itemtext=itemname:wigglin-water-sprinkler. Best part is it only cost about a dollar to make!
  12. The quick disconnect and hose-end shut off valve make the free-flow rinsing a breeze. Get an old piece of hose and a female hose end, put this on when you're ready for the final rinse. Now get your Detail Spray and waffle weave towel, and you are set for a spot free car!

  14. I can relate to that Dylan! I washed and clayed the Mrs.'s car last Friday night, and spent Saturday in the garage with radio and the PC. I enjoyed the day working with my Adam's products & toys and my wife really liked the way her car looked (her Mother's day present from me!). )
  15. SweetDaddy, You may find that the Green Wheel Cleaner itself will save you some steps. It works well without a brush, but even better when brushed. I don't have the Adam's wheel brush, but it looks as though it could do some crevice cleaning. I even use GWC cut 50/50 with water for my 'maintained' wheels, and it works fine.
  16. Welcome Chris! I have only used the machine products, so I'll let someone else speak on the Buttery Wax, but I do use the All Purpose Cleaner (APC). If you get APC on the paint you should remove it with water or a wet cloth. It can be diluted (some use distilled water), I use 50% APC/50% water to clean wheels, tires, and wheel wells, and save the full strength for cleaning sponges and pads. As for the towels, they should last several seasons. If you haven' already done so, check this 'sticky' on Microfiber care http://www.adamsforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2117 You will find lots of great information on this forum, along with very helpful members. Be sure to check out the 'sticky' posts at the top of each sub-forum for "how to's" and such. Also check out the vidoes that are linked on this site and the store. Adam did a great job explaining the use of most of the products available. But by all means, if you have a question, someone will have an answer! Mike.
  17. I'm using 50/50 with distilled water on 'maintained' cars. My test subject was some cast aluminmum wheels on a friends truck, they were black with brake dust, grease, etc. At full strength it cut through the gunk and came clean with a little scrubbing. After seeing the results he asked me to order him some; got him the Daily Special from earlier this week.
  18. I saw my first love bug of the season yesterday (well to be accurate there were 2 'attached'). Not having been an Adam's user during the past 'seasons' they've always been a problem, but now I'll just keep some Detail Spray and a clean MF towel in the vehicles for the next month or so. A quick spray and wipe should get them off the grill and windshield. For those of you who don’t' live in the Southeast, Wikipedia says "The lovebug, Plecia nearctica, is a member of the family of march flies. It is also known as the honeymoon fly, telephonebug, kissybug or double-headedbug". What they really are is flying acid containers! If not taken care of quickly (guilty) they will eat through whatever protection is on the paint, and then start on the paint! Oh well, a price must be paid for being able to wear shorts and flip-flops at Christmas!
  19. Thanks Ken and Jason. I beleive I'll add a couple of MF pads when I place the Revive order so I can do the mural by hand.
  20. I think this is the stuff to get 'regular owners' hooked on Adam's. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p> Most of the folks on here that have cars they show, DD's and garage queens, mention that the first Adam's products they used was the Detail Spray, then their addiction grew from there (Detail Spray as a 'gateway drug', hmmm). I think the GWC may do the same thing with folks that are just regular owners looking for a way to keep their DD's looking nice. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I received my GWC order last Friday and a friend stopped by to deliver my Arizona Iced Tea order (he is a driver for them and hooks me up). While he was in the house talking with my wife, I thought his very dirty (brake dust, grease, etc.) cast aluminum wheels would be the perfect test for GWC. He couldn't believe how good the wheels looked, and admitted he had tried many OTC products to clean them. He said his son joked that maybe they should just let them go and tell everyone that they painted them black! He has now hit me up twice since then to get him a bottle. I'll be placing his order for the Daily Special when I get to work in the a.m., and get another person on the way to being “addicted to Adam's”!<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> BTW, I only have ‘before’ pictures. When he comes to get his order I’ll get ‘after’ pics and post them.
  21. I will be working on my niece’s truck in a few weeks figured I'd ask a question here. She has a Buick Rendezvous with lift gate for her wheelchair. It's white, with a painted mural on the hood and some painted graphics on the sides, and I don't believe they are clear coated. When I looked at the truck over the weekend the graphics looks a little 'dull' and I was thinking of getting some Revive to clean the entire truck before applying MSW. Does anyone have experience with this type graphics and/or would the Revive work? If it makes any difference I will be working with a PC. Thanks in advance, Mike.
  22. OK, 'first rater' on 4 products, what do I win?
  23. Rich you are absolutely right, I loved the wash pad! And the neon pink wash soap is great too! The wash pad is sooooo much better than the similar looking one I was using. Once again 'Adam's Rules!'.
  24. And now a question: if I'm working on removing a scratch, say 6 inches long, how much product (SHR only) should I put on the pad? In the video's you mentioned that you were using more product than usual and were doing an entire panel. I know it's a learning process, but wanted to get a reference point before I start next time. Thanks, Mike.
  25. I believe the PC has an 18 gauge cord, but I didn't have my glasses on when I read the cord and can't verify that online. You may want to add the cord size to the write-up since it is important to use a smaller number/higher gauge extension cord (as you mention).
