  1. thanks Robert. Many others have also suggested blow drying vs towel drying. The issue here.....I really like wiping my cars down. Theres a satisfaction in wiping down a nice slick surface with a soft towel! But I understand your advice. Thanks.
  2. Spent some time yesterday on the new Cayenne Turbo S. Blasted off the grime with the power washer. Then, used more towels than ever with the GDWM with Rinseless. I then hit the hood an front fenders with some Patriot at 1am last night!!! While washing in the sunlight, I was able to see a number of surface scratches.... damn this black paint is going to be tough! BUT... with the black paint, it surely does make it easier to SEE what I'm working on... AND.... you can really see how the effort produces a GLOSSY SHINE!!!
  3. TIME is EXTREMELY valuable! I try very hard to never waste my time.
  4. Yo D! Thanks for the note! I'll give it a try!
  5. Thanks bud. I have watched several videos when I first got it, but some refreshers would be good!
  6. Hey guys.... So I've had the Cyclo for a couple years but never needed to use it. Well, now I have w black truck and can see needing to use it soon, right away! ; ) So, my question....right now I just have the one vehicle. A brand new Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. I'm not so keen on learning/practicing on this brand new truck that costs so much $$$ How would you suggest I go about learning / practicing ..?? Thanks!
  7. NICE TRUCK Derek! I've always wanted a pickup! Enjoy in good health my friend.
  8. Wow.... This is going to be tougher than I thought! Few things: Just had the entire front clip, all fender flares, pillars, door edges, rear bumper and mirrors covered with Suntek PPF. I prefer Sunteks optical quality over Xpel. I rarely use the bucket wash method. I'm all about the GDWM with plenty of Rinseless and high quality Korean MF towels. The other thing.... I LOVE wiping down my cars! I'll NEVER wipe while dry...and I'm careful to use clean sections of the towel. All this said, I can see light swirls/scratches starting to appear. I think I'll be okay with a certain amount of them as this is my daily driver and can't be too crazy about it. Either way, the black does look GORGEOUS on this truck!
  9. Thanks Dan. This all seems logical to me. The film is Suntek
  10. It's Suntek film. And someone else in that thread said I could continue to use my electric leaf blower that has NEVER been used for leaves. Lol
  11. Who would let that gorgeous car get so bad?!?!
  12. Couple things: 1. Boy, this Porsche black paint is SOFT!!! Scratches SOO easily. Yikes.... 2. I had PPF applied to the entire front clip and key areas around the vehicle. Questions: 1. Assuming any polish won't have ANY effect, correct? 2. Assuming I can wax, seal, glaze and expect similar results in terms of protection, gloss, and shine...? 3. What else should I know about maintaining, detailing, general care when it comes to PPF...? Thanks!
  13. Yeah, I noticed just how soft it is!
  14. Lol... ; ) It's not as fat after buying 5 Porsches in under a year...!!! Eeeek! Lol. I've got a leaf blower. Think I'll try to make it work.... Lol
  15. Ok, so I've now got a black daily driver. What 'RULES' do you / would you follow to minimize visible damage..?
  16. Hey man....you are ABSOLUTELY spot on! I am truly fortunate to have such problems!
  17. Yeah, well... That should tell you just how bad I want the RS!!!
  18. Hey guys... It seems like lately my TID is coming out blotchy...specifically on my black leather dashes. Any ideas? I'm going to try switching out my towels my 2 primary interior towels. They haven't been washed in 2 years. (Historically, since I never let my interior get past minor dust/prints/dried water drops/etc... I do quick wipes to my interior with light TID, approx 1-3 times a week. Mostly twice. So the towels get just a mist of TID...and by the time I'm done wiping everything down its pretty much dry...or close enough to just throw back into the bin where I keep my interior towels and detail tools. But maybe I'm getting a blotchy outcome because the towels never get cleaned...?
  19. I bought a BLACK truck!!!!!! After my Jeep SRT8 in Black I Swore I would never buy a black car again. At least not for a daily! This is REALLY going to test my detailing skills, OCD nature...and my tolerance for a car that shows all its dirt. Mmmmmm.....?? Well, long story short, if I wanted a 911 GT3RS at MSRP, I had to buy it. If that sounds odd, I get it...but these cars are selling for $35-100(-150k) above MSRP (in some cases with special colors.) So dealers use these special GT cars to move aging / hard to sell inventory. So, I bought the Cayenne! Even though I just bought my white 2016 Cayenne S in April....and before that, my gray 2016 Cayenne S eHybrid in December!!!! Yeah, I've got a problem. Lol For 10+ years I've wanted a Cayenne...but heck I didn't mean 3 within 7 months! LOL. oh well. I will say it wasn't a hard decision considering this new one is the top of the line Turbo S! COMPLETELY different than the other two S's. And I kept telling my salesman (who's become a 'professional' friend) that I loved my Cayennes but it just needed a V8 to make it perfect. So, he knew how to hook up a good deal that got my attention. So....the Cayenne Turbo S... Obvisouly more power vs the S....but the suspension and brakes are INSANE. 10-PISTON calipers!!!! WTF?!! That's so awesome it's hilarious! Huge carbon discs. It brakes better than my '14 M5 and it weighs 600+ lbs more! I can't say enough. Blown away. And the suspension....it's got the Porsche Dynamic suspension system that makes body roll non-existent! Again...absolutely blown away that such a big and heavy SUV can handle this way. It literally handles like a sports car. Insane. And the 570Hp and 590tq make it so 'athletic'....and with the proper braking and suspension system, I'm able to tap into a good bit of the power coming out of its 4.8 Twin turbo V8 of a powerplant! Also... Sold the GT3 to accommodate the incoming RS... Bittersweet for sure... Enjoy the pics! Livin the dream!
  20. IMO, it's not the same since DVK left.
  21. Love it!! I spent 15 years in telephony / unified comms. I'm in sales for a top 5-10 Silicon Valley enterprise software manufacturer.
