On really hammered paint I'll sometimes start with my rotary, but always finish with a DA. I'll use a Lake Country Yellow pad, or their Purple wool foam blend pad. I also have quite a variety of various companies compounds and polishes to use with those pads, along with those offered by Adam's. Once you use the rotary on a dark colored vehicle pull it out into bright sun, there are swirl marks, and holograms; it's the nature of the machine. If you're really good with a rotary they can be minimal. but they're there.
My usual go to anymore for really hammered paint is the FLEX XC-3401, it's a direct drive DA. It's pretty much a rotary that also serves as a DA.
I have a 3401 too. Love it.

So I’ve been practicing with the rotary a lot since I’m off work and actually may lose my job because of this virus mess. But, who all uses the rotary on here? I have to say the more I use it the more I like it. On a couple panels of my truck I did a 2 step process with it. Cut and finish with a rotary and no holograms or buffer trials were left behind. I experimented and cut with the rotary and then finished with a DA. No 3 step process needed. So again, who else’s like the rotary? What are some of your go to pads and polish for cutting and finishing?

I’ll get pics this weekend. Work has been crazy.

First off. I’ll get pics uploaded tomorrow when I get home from work. Both of these polishers are in great shape. I just have too many and with the newish job I don’t have the time to detail like I use to. Plus I find myself reaching for the Flex and my cheap porter cable converted to 3in every time anyway. I did cut about 3-4inches off the mini cord because it stopped working. Dan recommended I do that and it fixed it and I’ve used it many times since with no issue. Looking to get 350 shipped. Will sell separate but I’d rather keep them together. I might even throw in some kind of polish as a surprise.

Did a wash on Adams Ceramic Spray today. I applied it 21 days ago and this is its first wash since. No topper on in the video. I did use CB2.0 for the first time today and I really liked it. Topped the Ceramic spray with it.

Very nice, love the shot with the basketball hoop. The shots with the rainbow effect came out good and that should help other understand what the rainbow effect should look like. Thank you for posting the pictures.
I know what you mean about getting to work on newer vehicles, I'm so used to 10 or more year old ones, that I feel like I should be doing more work.
I always get cars/trucks that are 10+ years old and never been detailed before lol. I don’t do a lot of detailing now with my new job. But I still take on small stuff like this. I still love it, just don’t have the time anymore 🤷🏻♂️

Today I did a wash, decon and polish on this new Ecosport. Used Adams new formula of the Ceramic spray. It was super easy to use. I let it sit for about 60-75 seconds. At around the 2 minute mark it seemed to get tacky and I had trouble wiping it off the surface. So I dialed it back some and it was effortless to wipe off at the 60-75sec mark. And at that time frame the rainbowing was started to go away so I knew it was ready at that point to be removed. If it lasts a full 5-6 months I’ll be impressed. I bought 4oz and I’m guessing you could probably do 3-4 normal size cars with that amount. After polishing the vehicle was really glossy. It’s new so the paint wasn’t in bad shape. I’m not use to working on new vehicles. It was so easy to decontaminate. After applying and removing the coating. The longer it sat, it seemed to get glossier and glossier. I was like, what is going on here?! Guessing the SIO2 curing was making it look better 🤷🏻♂️?? Here’s a few pics. I’m terrible at just explaining things so if you have any questions about the process I’ll be happy to answer. I am annoyed I paid for 3 day shipping and it took 10 days to get to me. Oh well lol.

Car shampoo...
in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Posted
Did Adams reformulate their regular car shampoo? I just got a new gallon and it is noticeably thicker when I pour it out. And it seemed to foam more as well in my foam gun.
