When I get my new mats, i am considering using a ceramic coating on them.

My Master Blaster video
SumBeach35 replied to Greg from GA's question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
I also find it hard to believe they would include it in the MB....it is an item usually drop shipped from manufacturer and they are prepackaged...aka you can't add products to it. To me, it would be cost prohibitive for Adam's to send one. -
He used the polish to prep the surface for the new emblem, not repair the scratches you think the paper towels made on the paint.

I've never seen a weathertech mat do that
-
Tell you customers, and if you have a set, send them pictures and see what they say. Worst they can do is say no.

WeatherTech is replacing my front set of mats. They recommend I use WeatherTech cleaner or plain dish soap and water from now on to clean them.

Undercarriage Care FOR trucks
SumBeach35 replied to RwShine2's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Interested to see the response for this thread. I am hoping to buy a truck before next winter and being in the rust belt this is definitely needed. -
Wheel Cleaner for paint decon.
SumBeach35 replied to wwizard10's question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
It's useful on all cars. Just because you can't see it as well doesn't make it not applicable. I would wash using car shampoo and 2 oz of all purpose cleaner and then spray down with 1:1 diluted wheel cleaner. Let it dwell for 2-3 minutes but do not let it dry on the surface. Agitate with a wash pad or mitt that I would dedicate, if possible, to that job then rinse thoroughly. My through process is that I would rather remove as many bonded contaminates before using the clay. In my opinion, this will extend the life of the clay. -
I've had good luck with Adam's and FedEx. Only ever had one box show up mangled but the products inside made it to me okay.

I agree. Haven't gotten another response from them yet.

I did get one response so far from weathertech. The said the dye is mixed into the mats, not applied on top. The said the discoloration I am seeing is due to using a silicone based cleaner, which to my knowledge I haven't used. Still waiting for a response after telling them which cleaners I have used, the cleaners being Adam's APC, TRC as well as Simple Green.

Ultra plush drying towel
SumBeach35 replied to Lee's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
I used both sides yesterday while drying my car and didn't notice any difference between the two sides. Both sucked up the water in one pass. -
The mats had in quick spray down halfway through winter at a pay n spray. I've considered cutting the blue brush bristles in half to give me more cutting power. Truthfully most the dirt came off during the pressure wash. I used the 25 degree nozzle on my 2000psi pressure washer and was about 1-2 inches away from the mats. Just sent an email to weathertech to ask about the fading. Interested to see their reply.

I haven't driven the car yet since applying it but it wasn't slippery to the touch, left seemingly no residue but did darken the mats a bit.

Did a bit of an experiment today. Detailed my interior today after winter. My weather tech Digifits were kind of rough. Here is what I did. Mats are about 2.5 years old. Before pics Used 4 different cleaners: weathertech cleaner, Adam's Tire and Rubber, simple Green and Adam's interior cleaner. First I rinsed with the pressure washer. All were scrubbed with the old blue tire brush with briah being rinsed between each different cleaner then rinsed clean and dried with the sidekick. After drying in the in the sun. You can see the wear on the driver side mat. All mats seemed equally clean. I had a drill scrub brush as a back up but it wasn't needed. Final step was applying the weathertech protector using a damp microfiber applicator.

That's what I'm taking from it. Just depends on what you're seeing on the finish. -

First time paint correction/serious cleaning
SumBeach35 replied to camp316's topic in Detailing Write-Ups
Another large retailer of microfiber, sells microfiber towels from China and Korea. All microfiber has its place. Some of the China towels have come a long way. Not the ones from most of the big box stores but there are even exceptions made for that now too. Low cost manufacturering has it's places. Items made in the USA will always cost more. If there is a cut that can be made that will positively impact your bottom line without sacrificing quality then a business owner would be smart to make it. I love the good ole USA as much as the next guy but not everything is "cheap China junk". Read the tags on most items, especially clothing. it's not coming from China anymore. -
How do you store/carry your tools and supplies?
SumBeach35 replied to vollychief's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Just find a bag that will fit in, like a plastic bag from the grocery store. Another consideration is could you put them into a bottle that would fit into the container. -
Adam's does have a compound. The new blue heavy correcting compound utilizing blue foam pad and microfiber pads will remove help heavy swirls and do "compounding" as you put it. A DA, like swirl killer, Rupes, Porter Cable will correct most defects. Really deep scratches will need wetsanding or may be unrepairable without paint. TL:DR Adam's has a compound, heavy correcting compound found here http://adamspolishes.com/shop/exterior/polishing/adam-s-heavy-correcting-compound-8oz.html

This is from another thread in this subforum.

Nick covered all the info. Here is my .02... I have had good results with and without Microfiber revitalizer and brightener. Woolite works well and so does All free and clear. Some will argue they don't thoroughly remove chemical related to detailing as deeply. Vinegar in the fabric softener cup can also aid in removal. APC presoak would also work. I try to use MFRB sparingly due to the cost. It is a strong product. Burning sensation on the back of a dry hand starts pretty quickly.

And people gave you answers and said it's not safe and then said you it's just stuff to try. When you don't know something it's good to ask but you don't want to suggest something if you don't know especially when it's been previously stated as creating unsafe conditions for the operator of a vehicle.

Thanks for the response Dan. That is my usual workaround if it's something I can't seem to find. Just wanted to make sure someone was aware as I'm sure I wasn't the only one.

Nope. Same thing happens. Search box disappears
