  1. Good point, James and Chris. I always apply glaze by hand, but the red pad will (obviously) work for that, too.
  2. Welcome, Keith! Hanging out with Adam...are you also in CO?
  3. Can be used for wax and sealant. No correcting power to it.
  4. Agreed. Fixed for me, too. I'll chalk it up to a glitch. Thanks for the replies.
  5. I'd apply it before you clay to help in case the bar hits the trim.
  6. Actually I meant to apply after decon, before clay. Clay residue can also get on the trim, so it'll help with that. And when you say decon, do you mean strip wash? Sorry, I'm not familiar with the McKees products.
  7. Welcome, John! You've come to the right place to get started and learn. Overall your plan looks pretty solid. When you're ready to try polishing, feel free to ask any more questions you have. Polishing will also help bring out some shine you won't otherwise get by skipping it. Now to your questions: Does my plan seem ok for a newbie? Yep, I'd say so. Only things I'd add are: 1) after strip wash, apply VRT (if you have it) to all the trim - it'll make removing any clay, sealant and wax residue that you WILL get on it much easier later, 2) ensure the clay residue is removed, using either another strip wash or 50/50 isopropyl alcohol wipedown, 3) be careful while coating as you could cause some marring that won't be removed without polishing, and 4) have a cold one ready for when you're done! Will doing the sealant both by hand be wise? Sure. Just be sure you apply in a thin, even layer. Will it be a long challenge by hand? No, but a machine polisher would make it go faster and help ensure a more even coating. If I recall the Adams Paint Sealant and Americana can be used in some sunlight. Does this also mean it can be used in sunlight if applied with a DA? Yes to PS, but I prefer to work indoors. Can't vouch for the wax, I don't use it. I purchased 2 yellow hand pads - is the yellow hand pad good to apply the Paint Sealant with? I didn’t realize there were different colors / types. While the grey MF applicator will also work for by hand, you can use the yellow (or red). It's soft enough and has no cutting power. Will the Paint Sealant and Americana again trim should I be a little sloppy with applying? It won't permanently stain it, but I recommend you apply VRT first. If you don't have the VRT and get some sealant or wax on the trim, use either a bit of APC or TRC to remove it. Just take care to not get either on the paint as it'll remove what you just applied. Spraying directly on a towel works.
  8. Thanks, James. Looks like they're updating the site. It showed back up switching back to the v4.2. Also noticed a new Sales forum. Anything, mods?
  9. Switching to Default theme it doesn't show up...will see if it shows back up after swithching back to the 4.2 (Default) theme.
  10. And when I run a search to try and see if that works, I get this error.
  11. Anyone else have the search menu stuck on the screen like this? It's on every screen I go to. I've signed out, cleared the cache, restarted my phone, and still no luck.
  12. Another option is to get all set up in one spot, and then have your bride drive the car around you.
  13. I don’t want to pile on, but I’ll have to agree with Jon/@galaxy, Cedric...please, please change your font!
  14. All I can say is I saw something new coating related at the HQ a couple weeks ago. Referenced it here. Stay tuned.
  15. That's a lot of questions! Some good discussion in this thread that may answer several of them. I'll sum up my thoughts, though. And I won't be at all surprised if others disagree. I've only coated trim and the Boost works great to maintain it. For the rest of my maintenance routine, HGG is without a doubt my go-to. The Boost will certainly add shine. But its quirks (for non-coated surfaces), like not playing well with glass and that it can be finicky to apply, outweigh the benefit and it's not a normal part of my detail process. Oh, and the Boost offers protection that lasts several months. So longevity of it is a plus. But I like applying HGG so the fact it's more often doesn't bother me.
  16. I'm going to go ahead and preempt this one...especially given my faux pas above with TRC and HGG. Don't confuse Iron Remover and TRC. Wow, someone really needs to let us all know what they do to quickly differentiate (besides reading the label ).
  17. You may very well be right, in which case I stand corrected. Can anyone confirm?
  18. Nope, no need to dilute. Here's the video where Adam demos using it undiluted.
  19. If they're really that bad, you should also consider the Turbo Stick.
  20. But the Iron Remover, I think, doesn't have the same "don't let it dry" on the paint restriction...and it smells A TON better! Just my two cents.
  21. Wait...which brush did you use for what task? There's a slightly stiff bristle red and black tire brush, and a soft red wheel/rim brush. If you used the wheel brush on the tires, that might explain all the extra scrubbing. I've found the WC works just fine when the wheels are wet. What was your exact process, how long did you wait until scrubbing, etc.? I love both brushes mentioned above, especially the red wheel one, so trying to figure out what happened.
  22. Re: your side note, I'd say yes, but they will work for light drying...as in they're perfect for HGG (same towel as the grey borderless). If you want a drying towel, get the Ultra Plush.
