Happy Father's Day to all the Father's that are here on Adams Forum.  Church that I attend also does recognize men that are not fathers also so I did get a gift today.

My father had been looking to replace both the seats on the tractors so I purchased him seats for both tractors since he looked at them the other day when we were in town.

Installed some painted Ford emblems on the Explorer.  Ordered these from CustomTruckSolutions.com, with the emblem background matching the body color Magnetic Metallic, and the "Ford" and accents in Shadow Black to match the trim color.

Before and After on the front emblem:

    And the rear one:

I think they look much better than the original blue and chrome emblems.

Such a tragedy, too many tragedies in Orlando these last few days.  I agree with Rich, we must not cower during these times, rather, remain active and normal.  We admit defeat if we alter our lives.  Doesn't mean we can't be vigilant at the same time.

Absolutely.  Whatever your sexual preference is, it's nobody else's business.  Sexual persecution was normal hundreds of years ago. Have we learned nothing in all these centuries? Too much hate, too much violence, too much fear. Prayers for all of them.

And one last thing.  We as Americans can't live in fear. We can't stop living. We can't stop vacationing. We can't stop working. We didn't stop after 911. We can't stop now.  Or they win.  And I will never let them win.

Just seems like it would be a lot easier for Adam's to do it that way, rather than take a chance and order X number of this ONE shirt in X number of this size and not any in the other size, etc. and then have people who WANT the other size, and can't get it.  And there wouldn't be left overs either. I'm sure there has to be some money to be made here.

One of our local Corvette clubs sells club clothing. Nothing new there. But the way they do it is through Land's End.  You can order any item that Land's End sells and add the club logo to it for $8.50 more. They sell everything from coats, hats, and shirts to aprons, belts, and shoes.  In every size so nobody would have to say "I wish you had this size".  Even ladies clothes. To me, that seems like the perfect option for those of us who want polo shirts, or caps in a certain color, etc.

Maybe we can get Adam to check into it.  Here's a link to the club store so you all can check out what's available.

And to be  honest, I know that they don't sell all American made stuff, but for clothes I don't care too much.  Even the new blue Adam's tee is made in Mexico, so what's the difference.

Adam asked me to share this to the forum:

When a soldier comes home, he finds it hard......to listen to his son whine about being bored.
...to keep a straight face when people complain about potholes.
To be tolerant of people who complain about the hassle of getting ready for work.

...to be understanding when a co-worker complains about a bad night's sleep.

...to be silent when people pray to God for a new car.
...to control his panic when his wife tells him he needs to drive slower.

...to be compassionate when a businessman expresses a fear of flying.

...to keep from laughing when anxious parents say they're afraid to send their kids off to summer camp.

...to keep from ridiculing someone who complains about hot weather.

...to control his frustration when a colleague gripes about his coffee being cold.

...to remain calm when his daughter complains about having to walk the dog.

...to be civil to people who complain about their jobs.

...to just walk away when someone says they only get two weeks of vacation a year.

...to be forgiving when someone says how hard it is to have a new baby in the house.

The only thing harder than being a Soldier...
    Is loving one.

I was asked to pass this on and I will gladly do so!! Will you???

No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom, and only get 40% of their pay on retirement. While Politicians hold their political positions, in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women, and receive full-pay retirement after serving one term. It just does not make any sense.

This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally [/size]to the citizens of the United States."

I enjoy living here in America.  My family has been here for many many many generations.  If you have a college/university (degree) and depending on the field of study you should not have a hard time finding a job.  It really depends on the area that you want to live.  Where I live the county does not have many opportunities and I have to drive to the next county over for a job (but alot in this county are retired and the cost of living is low).  I have visited eight states so far.  My current job has allowed me to visit three of the eight.  Since you said you like Florida you might want to look in North Carolina.  You will have both the mountains and also the coast.

The only thing that I do not like here in America is the president.  I am glad it is an election year and he can not run anymore.  Due to him thousands of people have lot their jobs and where I work 60% of the workforce has joined the unemployment lines since I started with the company and also over 100 companies in this field has went bankrupt and closed their doors.

Also, Chris made another good point in his post below but did not come out and say it.   We have the freedom of speech.  Several counties you can not speak out what you think of the government.

It's interesting hearing stories like this. Yours is unheard of now. No longer can you go get a job at the local Ford plant or steel mill and raise a family of 4.

And to answer the OP question, I like it here.  I often think about those in other countries around the world and how they don't have the opportunities that we have here.  Some of it being as simple as owning life necessities, such as a pair of shoes.  As others have mentioned having an education does help but isn't always necessary if you find a niche and work hard.

If you have the opportunity make a trip to the Western US and visit some of the National Parks.  Make the Grand Canyon a priority.  I venture to Florida at least once a year and sometimes two.  I enjoy it there and can see why you like it.  If you haven't visited KSC, you should do it on your next trip.  I have been there 3 times and learn something new every time.  Will go again after they open the new Astronaut Hall of Fame.

In reference to your cost of living question, I would have to say Florida is relatively cheap in comparison to where I live and probably as a whole to a lot of places in the US, with the exception of electricity.  I know when I go I find everything to be just slightly cheaper than home.  Gasoline for example is just slightly lower than home.

If you have a great education or a needed skill, you will have no problem finding work here.  It's a lot harder without those two things.

I've been fortunate.  I only had a high school education, but was one of the last generation who got a manufacturing job, and that job provided a living wage for me to be able to provide for my family while my wife stayed home and raised the kids. I own a house, a couple of cars, my kids are both college educated (which neither me or my wife are), and now I'm retired and have a pension. I am also a veteran and served during Viet Nam.  This country has treated me and my family well.  But I worry for my grandchildren because of my first sentence. Time will tell. But for all of the good and the bad, I'd rather live here than any other country.

I will say that I absolutely love living here and am very proud of this country. I've been to 30 of the 50 states so far (that number will be increasing this summer!) and I've found something beautiful or amazing about each one. Finding jobs and cost of living will be very dependent on the area though.

I live about 250 miles from the Diesel sellers warehouse! I took a tour to see the trucks and the guys a few weeks ago. The Mega Ram and Super Six were incredible! Its pretty amazing at the things they build in such a short amount of time. They built the snow cummins in a total of 3 days! I love the white James. My wife has a black car and I've promised myself I'm only ever buying white vehicles. I love the black, but there is just so much maintenance on it!

Yeah, I have a 24' low pro carhauler with a 2' dovetail that I haul pretty regularly so the ball has to be down there quite a ways to keep from dragging the tail! And I've been rear ended multiple times so it helps protect my truck; so many people just don't pay attention anymore. Everyone is so busy on their phones even when driving in dense traffic.

Good point James.   I have been on the receiving end and giving end (mostly out of curiosity).   I grew up on a farm wore jeans and work boots and cap (now wear straw hat) on the farm and still do, school it was jeans and athletic shoes, but to church always have dressed up better.  Work it has been business casual (but work due to a few other factors has relaxed it to jeans if you do not have any planned visitors).  Now when I wear a suit people do not recognize me or have to look.

What I did today was work on my taxes, had lunch with friends, worked on plow replacing the plowshare parts, and plants some seeds.

I spent all day running a jackhammer busting out concrete that one of our subcontractors had destroyed with heavy equipment. It will all be getting replaced next week now. Good news is, I am finally getting feeling back in my arms! Haha

To give you an idea of just how big this building is, here is a picture of my truck about 3/4 of the way down the warehouse. You can see the taillights in the distance. The ware house is about 70% of the square footage of the building.

EDIT: Is there any way to post photos in the correct orientation via smart phone?

No, nothing wrong with it at all! The looks, at least from me, are never out of judgement but rather curiosity. When you're so used to seeing everyone dressed one way, it's just different.

Haha I'm sorry to say that I've been on the sending end of those looks before... I grew up on a farm and have been around livestock my entire life and spend a lot of my time in boots and jeans, even have nice boots, jeans, and shirts just for nice events... That being said, I have been the only one in the room wearing boots, jeans, and a western shirt and gotten equivalent looks haha. It's funny how different things are depending on where you are in the country and your specific lifestyle.
