Being in the south we deal with heat and humidity and I have found that the humidity has more of an effect than the heat does on the products, especially the cure/flash time.  This has been rather noticeable with the waxes, a bit more with HGG and really affects CB 1.0 timing.   I have purchased multiple Acurite Humidity and Temperature Monitors, Model #00309SBL, to help tabulate the differences.  I have one in the room where I store my chemical's, one in the garage and one is being kept on the detail cart.

The unit I went with is from Acurite and is Lowes #396632 and is $9.98 (plus a 10% discount if you are a veteran), here is the link at Lowes: https://www.lowes.com/pd/AcuRite-Digital-Weather-Station/1000162483

The unit tells you the high and low Humidity and Temperature for a 24 period, so you will always know how high low the conditions were for your chemicals.  The one on the detail cart will provide you the information where you are working.  Here is where I put it on my cart and a closer look of the display.

I plan on charting the timings for curing along with the temperature and humidity to get a better of idea of how many or few panels I can do at time to get a consistent product outcome.

Note to weather buffs: My PWS is KSCWESTC15 - Western West Columbia

For anyone interested, you can see the weather conditions in my back yard here:  https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KSCWESTC15

    Cart 2.jpeg

That's way more complicated then it needs to be in my book. I'm located in central Alabama so our summers are 100 degree days with 90%+ humidity. I just go one panel at a time, maybe two or three panels if its wax.

Haha. We spent a fair amount of time making fun of that product actually and their silly claims. That’s not the one I did accreditation for.

In my opinion, that company has done a disservice to the detailing community as a whole by putting unrealistic expectations in people’s minds of what a coating does or should do.

Unfortunately they’ve marketed so heavily, people believe much of what they see. What you won’t see is us ever installing that product.

Yeah they’re the snake oil of the car care business. I’m just surprised some idiot hasn’t tried it at home and burned their car to ground.

It’s been a bit since I’ve updated this thread as well. Things slowed down a bit in July and August due to a family situation.  We are getting back at it with good work scheduled coming up.

But as a teaser of latest work, here’s a BMW i8 that I was a part of at a training class to become accredited for a “professional only” coating with another manufacturer. This coating actually carries a nine year warranty when installed by an authorized dealer (since its only available to accredited installers). And since we sometimes like to talk hardness, the base coat is a solid 10H on the hardness scale.

After this weekend I’ll update the Subaru Ascent write ups with photos and I’ll have some photos of another coated vehicle we are doing. I think in September we have five coatings to do including my car and my wife’s. So there should be ample opportunities for photos.

    Enjoy!

Did you guys pour a little gasoline on the hood and lit it on fire like I see in the commercials?

I’ve learned it’s always better to ask for forgiveness than permission ? as long as bills are paid, I bring home what I want haha.

Oh trust me I did that with my Liberty gun safe. Told the wife it was pretty small (didn't say compared to a 50-60 gun safe) and it would fit in the closet. Well little did she know that night when she came home from school there was a nice brand new 900lb burgundy liberty gun safe in the living room of our apartment. It didn't fit through the bedroom doorway! I didn't hear the end of that until I bought our house about a year later and we moved.

Hey guys! Found this page while searching for some info on some Adam's products so I thought I'd sign up. Just started buying Adam's products last year and I'm hooked. Trying to keep my truck as nice as possible and learn new detailing things every day. Pictures attached below, I have more Adam's stuff than shown but love the Oakley case for a detail display.

Also have a brand new ceramic wheel coating kit that I would like to trade for other products if anyone is interested?

Sweet display case! Almost makes me wish I would have taken the exact same display when I had one offered to me. But then again I think my wife would have killed me at the time lol.

  6. Is there an official garage or detail shop picture thread? I'm new to the forum and Adam's Polishes so it's very possible I have missed it. However, I have tried searching but could not find any thread dedicated to this topic. Just a few one off threads that people created about moving into a new house, building a new garage, etc. Personally I think a dedicated thread to this topic would be awesome. Some of the computer forums I'm on have a similar thread for computer room pictures (link below for reference). Anyways if thread already exists point me in the right direction! I've been in my house a year and am finally getting to the garage and am looking for ideas and inspiration!

I just did a one step polish on my buddy's '18 Ram with my new 15mm SK.  I felt like I wasn't using enough, but maybe its in my head.  I started out with 4 dime sized dots of the polish on the foam pad followed with a spray of Detail Spray.  I've watched the videos before where Adam will spray a blast of Detail Spray when the pad begins to get dry to recharge the polish.  I feel like I didn't use enough polish as I only reapplied it to the pad maybe 6-7 times during the whole process?  What are your guys thoughts??

In my experience I've always used less product on lighter colored vehicles. For example when I had my black 2005 WRX it showed swirl marks at the sight of dirt and always seemed to require more attention. However on my white 2012 GT500 the clear coat seemed to not scratch as easy nor did it show swirl marks and imperfections as much as a darker car. Thus I used less material but achieved the same results. As @shane@detailedreflections said if you're happy with the results then don't worry!

    Kyle,

Just subscribed to the channel! FYI you'll probably want to stop sharing that long URL that you put in your first post. You can simply use this one (https://www.youtube.com/user/Adamspolishes) and it takes you to the same place.

  10. Nice truck, I'm a GM guy as well. Currently looking at picking up a Colorado ZR2 for the wife and maybe a new diesel 1/2 ton sometime next year. I'm not into the lowering scene but it seems like the go to for GM trucks is belltech or Mcgaughys.

I'm in need of a new EDC wallet, and The company 'Trayvax' has been constantly popping up on my Facebook. I looked into their products and they seem to be very well made and 100% made in the US. Does anyone own one of their wallets or have any other companies that they like?

My last slim wallets leather finally started to disintegrate on me a few months ago so I switch to this Columbia Magnetic Security Card Case Wallet and its been phenomenal. I carry my drivers license, concealed carry permit, health insurance, a couple membership cards and one debt card. Past that I keep a couple other cards on my iPhone using the Wallet app. My favorite features of this wallet is that its tiny, features RFID blocking technology and is cheap! You can usually find it on eBay or Amazon for under $15-20 shipped.

I think it will all work out. The plumber seemed to realize it was on them. He didn't admit that they screwed up but he knew that something happened. It wasn't leaking and then they did work and it began leaking. It was hard to tell how extensive the damage was but the moisture readings showed that it spread out everywhere. A lot of that might just need the fans blowing for a little bit and no other real action. I'm sure I can return it. We have had it for a couple weeks and I'm keeping all of the receipts for this place. I'll just not mention the flooring and if they ask what I want installed, I'll tell them vinyl plank and sell them what I have or they can buy their own. The boxes of flooring are in the condo but if they ask about it, I can say it's for our bedroom or something. The kitchen has sheet vinyl now so I think the planks are comparable.

Hate to see you post something like this after recently purchasing a home...welcome to home ownership! Since you just purchased your home and it appears to be an older home a home warranty from a company like AHS or HSA could be a great investment. Prices depend on your area but for me is costs a $600/year which isn't bad at all. I bought my first home last summer and had the seller purchase the top tier home warranty plan of my choosing at no cost to me. It ended up paying for itself in the first year as I found out my guest bathroom's shower valve had a slow leak and it was trickling down the drywall and onto the carpet spike strip. I found it while I was removing the carpet to put down new hardwood tile floors. In the end it cost me $75 to have them rip open the wall, remove the moldy dry wall, replace the value and patch it up. My home is only 12 years old but this year I renewed my policy because living in central Alabama I am expecting my A/C unit to need replacing within the next couple of years. That job alone will cost $5,000-10,000 but with my policy I'll simply pay $75 and it'll be replaced! Also, you only have 30 days from closing to purchase a home warranty that actually covers all repairs, fixing walls, all interior electrical ,etc. Past 30 days the warranty programs are decent but nowhere near as good. Just some food for thought!

Sweet ride! Almost had a 2004 GTO as my first car back in spring of 2005 when I turned 16. Only problem was the two models they had left were both automatics so we walked. One day I'll scoop up a red or black 2006!

Wow, great buckets for your first purchase! Congrats.

Well I did a bad thing (DO NOT tell my wife!) I went ahead and purchased another $500 in Adam's Polishes products and tools. :lolsmack: Ever since I sold my GT500 I've been really slacking on car care and basically have no products left. So I said screw it and jumped with both feet into the Adam's Polishes line up!
