The Rupes pads are 4", so not sure if a 3" pad will work.

I think you will get more use out of the Mini vs. the iBrid Nano, unless you do lots of work on exotics.  The Nano pad size is just over 1" and just under 2", so not really going to replace a 4" machine.  The Nano will shine working on louvers, grills, and other tight areas.

Before I got the mini I looked at the pros and cons of each. The only thing I thought about was; think about what types of cars you have polished before, now think of the parts that need to be done that are small.
Does the 4" pad fit in those areas that need to be done?
Since you detail for money, as I do, I know that I will never polish a car where the areas are so small that a nano needs to be used, and some good old hand polishing can take on. Then I thought having a nano might open me up to some different polishing abilities like a motorcycle. But at the end, like mc2hill said, are you going to do exotics?

IMO A Nano will take twice as long to polish an area then a mini because of the pad size. When working for money, timing is just that, money. I went with the mini and am very happy with it and it can get to, on most cars I have done, 99% of the cars small areas.
Not knocking the nano at all but I think to me it is more for exotics, motorcycles, ect.

My client wants to 'freshen up' his 1918 White Model 15 truck for possible sale.  We are just tackling a few items at a time, as this is a biiig truck!

This day we just did the hood (top and sides) and the radiator.
A shot after spraying it down with Waterless Wash.  (this shot was tweaked with a photo editor)

I started with the hood sides:

I found it easier to work on them when the sides were horizontal.  I protected the window and frame with a work MF

And supported it on the marker light with another work MF

Since this had all the louvers I just hand polished it with Revive and a foam applicator.

Next I taped off the pinstripes and the center hinge, and covered the brass radiator and frame rails.  Much easier to take a few minutes to protect things than have to clean polish off them later!

Once it was clean I could see it was not too bad, but it did have some stains from hot water from a day out a few months ago.  (The cooling system has been repaired since then.)
    Before

    After

I used PCP on a orange 4" Focus pad for the correction (2 passes).  If you look at the Waterless Wash shot you can see it has a big concave section, so 7" or 5.5" pads could not get flush on the surface.
The hood still had a few slight scratches and faint water spots, but without a paint thickness gauge this was all the correction I was comfortable with.
I followed that up with PFP on a 5.5" finishing pad and applied a coat of Americana.

Then we hit the radiator with MP #1 & #2, and applied QS for protection.

I will update this thread as we continue working on this piece of history.

These are pictures from a Honda Odyssey that I finished detailing today. I used plastic to cover some electrical parts as well as the opening to the Air Intake.

After drying I used Adams In and Out spray.

I start with all purpose cleaner and spray that liberally all over the bay (after covering anything that needs covering). Then I let it sit for few minutes, then I agitate with a brush. Then I use a steamer to sort of pressure wash the bay and to get to the tiny spaces the brush missed and then I rinse with water. Finally, I apply VRT and in and out spray.

I use the grit guard when using the Adams Bucket as I find the gamma seal lid has a lip that makes it impossible to fully rinse/empty the bucket (and be assured that all dirt/grit is removed from the bucket).
