  1. ok, hopefully this isn't a stupid question, but what would you guys deem 'too hot' for waterless wash? I just drove my car around for a bit and parked it in the garage. with a thermal surface temp meter thing, I noticed the surface temp was 100-110... so it got me curious, what temp is too hot to use waterless wash? I don't think it will harm anything, but I have a feeling the waterless wash stuff might dry off very quickly? I figured I let the car sit in the garage and I'll just do it tomorrow when surface temp is around 80 which is what the garage is usually.. thanks!
  2. It's very nice. I had a modular before as well. Problem was I always ride with it up unless I'm doing highway speeds, and when it's up, it will sometimes fall down, or come down halfway blocking my vision. This one is great because only the chin piece goes up, so you still get to utilize your visor with a full face. There really isn't another helmet like it that i know of. the medium felt a bit tight (that's my size) but I can feel it's already loosening up. I would highly recommend this helmet to anyone who's looking for a modular helmet too. also has a sunshade visor.
  3. I heard the rinseless wash (I use that as my waterless mix) will add gloss, so I haven't touched my matt black stuff with it.
  4. It was a birthday gift from the wife. I was eyeing for a little bit, but didn't wanna spend the cash on it as I don't wear a full face too much on the harley. I guess she remembered and I got it as my bday gift today. It can be worn as a full face, or you can bring the chin piece up and around your head to the back to make it a half face to get some wind in your face. how cool! oh and the glass cleaner works very well on the flat black btw. no shine, but gets finger smears etc off. Might need more of this stuff to use on the harley's flat black paint as well... If I get stuck in the rain, the glass coat I think will make my life much easier as far as seeing out the visor. now I gotta get that rain suit that stuffs into a little sack!
  5. now they're gonna leave a buncha spots on the car though
  6. Will glass sealant work on a helmet visor? I don't want to put it on and find out the hard way it might haze up my helmet visor or something since it's glass. I searched and didn't get anything. quick answer anyone? Thanks!
  7. dang. I wonder if costco has a military membership. we have BJ's lol
  8. Well over the weekend let's see... saturday I went to the autogeek detail fest. It was nice, but very hot. I didn't buy anything, but got a small sampler size of 303 which I love to use on the inside. I was going to get the nanoskin thing, but I skipped out on it. It was also wife's baby shower which I took no part of except carry the gifts Sunday was time spent with the wife. Running errands most of day. Maternity pictures at the end of the day. Monday I did a full on detail of the infiniti we have. About 8 hours. Wash, decon, clay, 1 step finishing polish, liquid paint sealant. Detailed the inside next day Tuesday Waterless wash the Corvette, then put on a coat of glaze because I can I think the buttery wax is still on there. It'll last me 2 months or so I think I then took some 'money' shots with it. I need to clean the volt now. Having 3 cars is too many. I keep cleaning them in rotation on my days off LOL.
  9. is this only about space stuff? lol
  10. man! mad jelly! LOL Still building my arsenal here. I will pass on stuff that I don't use to to you guys eventually!
  11. Thanks, it's a nice car. I will be sad when we have to give it back and get something like the QX60 or an Explorer. Even a Grand Cherokee. This thing has some power too. 360 hp, 4.9 sec 0-60. Fast and affordable Sedan
  12. Thanks guys! it wasn't too bad. I didn't even need to pull out the 4 inch BP to get into the tight spots. what's nice is there is barely any plastic/rubber that I needed to hand apply or use smaller pads to get in around. the large pads worked well. Either I'm getting used to this whole thing, or this car was easier than the Volt and Corvette lol
  13. agreed. I was at a little loss (as you guys obviously see lol) I'm not sure if it required wiping, claying after, agitating...
  14. Yup, that pad is only for the LPS. I plan on buying another for the glaze and buttery wax because I think it's much easier to apply these things by machine vs hand.
  15. Another car done. Did a 1 step with white polish as the clear and paint appeared to be in great condition to begin with. She just has more shine now. Since this is our DD, I topped it off with Liquid Paint Sealant. Was going to put glaze for extra shine for that instant wow, but it's already plenty shiny and it was getting dark. Wife is pleased. I used the deep wheel cleaner for the 1st time on car paint today and you can see the iron deposits slowly dissolve, and unlatch themselves from the paint. It did take 3-4 tries to get most of them off with some MF buffing/wiping. I could have kept going to get more off, but I was happy with the results. I then clayed all the trouble panels again (so 2 clay sessions) and paint was pretty darn smooth. the deep wheel cleaner was a must. I then looked at the paint and realized how good condition it was for a 1 year old car that was always washed the 'wrong' way at car washes etc.... I decided 1 step polish is def going to do the trick. I was going to use the orange polish, but because it was in SUCH good condition, I had a feeling the white polish would do the trick. I was right... combination of FLEX and white polish with the foam pads really worked well. I didn't have much to cover, so it just made the paint smoother and shinier. Great platform for the sealant to stick to. I wiped the car down with alcohol and gave it some time to let it evaporate. I finally hit it with the Liquid Paint Sealant using the FLEX on setting 1. The machine really makes it easy to apply. I do have to say I use bit more than I would like with the LPS.... It retreats to the foam pad quickly. (when you clean them and you wring to let the water out, you'll see the retreated product oozes back out. Finally put some VRT on the wheels and QD to the wheels. Pics are always fun Before I started... Car hadn't been washed in a little while Deep Wheel cleaner at work taking the iron deposits out Before polish (you can see the paint is in good condition) Final product after about 8 hours!
  16. I actually like the color too. this pearl white is such a nice color. it's a sparkly white. the volt's pearl white I've seen has a slight hue of yellow in it. I don't like that at all.
  17. We were looking at the '16 explorer and we both think it looks sharp in black. but I keep thinking about the upkeep. forget swirl marks. black shows every speck of dirt on the car! lol
  18. I never thought the ability to not see imperfections would dictate the color of car I get. If we stick with infiniti after this lease is over in a year, I'm getting this same exact color. lol
  19. Wife's car was very dirty and it hasn't been adamized since I got into the detailing recently. It has gone through car washes (machine and hand) along with the wax specials for 35 bucks. Car always came out great and looked spiffy... Well today I decided it's time the last car inthe stable needs to get adamized so I started off with a 2 bucket wash followed by decon by deep wheel cleaner and clay. I just wiped the car down with some alcohol now and she looks amazingly clean. I looked closely at the paint and it's nearly flawless. I'd say it's 90% or better overall... how does a clearcoat stay so perfect after a year of cheap washes? baffles me.... the volt wasn't as good. both are white cars (infiniti is pearl white) but the volt had more noticable swirl marks on it. Heck, I see more swirl marks on the corvette already than this infiniti! anyways, this is just before I put polish on it now. I figured I share. one helluva clear coat on this car. Maybe it's one of those "self healing" ones. I don't know, but it's amazing
  20. indeed... it's less and less each time I spray now. I'll concentrate most on the rear since it was worst and few spots on the hood. if you clay your car once a year (this car is 1 year old) it's going to take multiple hits of this stuff to completely get it off your car. I assume this is slightly acidic and will instantly strip protectants? (for future reference, this car has nothing on it to begin with as I'm about to polish it in a minute anyways)
  21. crazy... would never think i'd have iron fallout on my car lol Gonna wipe it down in a few minutes and we'll see how it turns out. I have enough spray to do it 2 more times or so. I sprayed down the areas that were the worst
  22. Yep... Diluted it now. Next time I know better. I figured the concentration would just be more aggressive lol I just re-sprayed with 1:1 dilution. Started to bleed again... how long should I wait to let it do it's thing? I'm going to need to order a gallon of this stuff for next time. lol
  23. Didn't dilute. I figured since the car was wet from the rinse, it would dilute upon contact I guess if I diluted it would have been close to half a bottle lol... so any suggestions? I still have about 3-4 oz left I can go over it again I suppose... but man, what a pain in the butt lol i'm not even sure if it's iron contamination or some other stuff (the left overs)
  24. Today is the day to detail the infiniti. I took up on some of the suggestions members gave and sprayed the car with deep wheel cleaner (that took an entire bottle lol) car was bleed all over. It looked very cool then After I cleaned and rinsed the car off (started off with 2 bucket wash) I started to clay using 64:1 rinseless as lube Well I got to work and I noticed none of the contamination was coming off. I rubbed and rubbed and rubbed. I'd have to use my nails to get some of them off. so now the car is prepped to be polished, but it looks like it's still contaminated and I'm a little dissapointed... what gives? Maybe I need to step up my game, and try one of those medium nanoskin clay pads and get to work with the flex or PC Why aren't these coming off? the clay bar is practically new (used on one car) and it never even got "dirty" I've attached some pictures I took with my foam. What is the culprit here? I'm sure it will clean up with the orange pads now, but it's going to clog up my foam.... deep wheel cleaner at work The contamination that just won't come off no matter what
