How to clean a Dirty Great White Drying Towel?
Chobbs replied to Goatman06's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Interesting thread! Personally, I will not subject my towels to hot water. Also, rarely do I get my drying towels dirty. As I am very thorough with the wash. But if I did get a black spot on my towel, I would just spray with APC and throw it in the washer with woolite. My towels are still in very good condition after almost two years of use:) and I dont see why one would ever have to boil the GWDT. Mine only gets used to dry the car so there is no opportunity for wax or other things to build up in the fibers, or so I think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I think the really sad thing is, is that we actually cut the space program! I agree there is a lot of wasteful spending in the government but the space program is crucial to our future our children's future and their children's future. Where would we be if no one discovered America? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Americana Containers
Chobbs replied to Midnight1700's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
I did the warm water trick the other day. No I did not let the water boil. I put enough water in the pan so the container floated then I slowly warmed up the water and the wax melted back to one solid piece. It worked like a charm! Tip- I used two chop sticks resting on the edge of the pan to the edge of the container to keep the container from floating to the sides of the pan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Detail Process Question
Chobbs replied to Bully's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
FMP=fine machine polish right? And if by SS you mean super sealant then yes the correct order is FMP and then throw on the sealant. After 12-24hrs then you can apply other glazes and/or waxes. The FMP is a polish designed to be the finishing step in the corrective polish process. Once that is complete, then you apply protection to the corrected clear coat. Did the cord get yanked at all? Perhaps open it up and check the connections and get a voltmeter to make sure the wires in the actual plug aren't broken too. Hope it's a simple problem so you can finish! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Another crazy way of cleaning your vehicle...
Chobbs replied to the1inblue's question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
If ya washed(2 bucket) first and then wanted to strip the finish this might be good but honestly can't see a real Benefit to the steam being used on paint??? Especially not how this guy is doing it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
That is quite a dramatic change! Car looks great!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's like everything else. The few bad apples make it worse for the rest that are responsible and know how to handle that responsibility. So as a society we are forced to come up with solutions like the no texting while the phone is moving more than ten Miles per hour. I am totally willing to vote for that. It seems to me that if there is a safer way to keep people from texting and driving, that it trumps people's "feeling like" they wanna text while on a bus or as a passenger. It is such a small inconvenience compared to the overall Benefit. And, really, it's just texting. Who cares if there is a restriction put on it? Is it really THAT important??? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes that would suck, but if it were that important you could have the driver pull over or just make a phone call and actually talk to the person in question. IMHO if it saves lives it may be worth the minor inconvenience. Unless there is a better way???? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I love the size of the iPhone as is. If it got too much bigger I would definitely not buy it! As far as the MacBook pro. I just got the MacBook air last year and have no desire to replace it yet. So this years conference was kinda "who cares?" for me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I posted that video on camaro5 and on TIPB (the iPhone blog) almost two years ago, it was interesting the responses it got. I also cited studies showing that while texting ones reaction time is as bad as a drunk drivers. On the iPhone site I got serious resistance. They were so sure that they could do this task. One guy said he was a cop and he got so irate and started calling me names and threatening me! It was so bizarre!!! Anyhow, since then, it has been made illegal here in Nevada but I still see it happen everyday. I swear, I wanna buy a train horn and scare the crap outta them! But, that would probably cause and accident. On the camaro site, It got mostly indifference?!?! (i have since been banned for life from camaro5, i lost my temper on a different subject and said some things I shouldn't have) I guess when enough people die, then maybe something will get done. Until then watch out for self centered, self important, egomaniacs on the road! Because they sure as heck don't care about anyone else but themselves! Whew! This topic pisses me off! Disappointed with first use of Wool Wash Mit...
Chobbs replied to L1lD3v1lRydr's question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
I use the foam gun so there is already soap on my finish. Whatever soap the pads bring them is extra gravy AFAIC(as far as I'm concerned). Love the wool pad. The synthetic pad only touches the bottom third of my car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Do you 2 bucket wash?
Chobbs replied to bigaudiofanatic's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I am with the majority on this one. I never walk on my wool rug with sneakers, shoes or flip flops no matter how clean, even if I am getting ready to vacuum. The possibility of putting a stain (or scratching the cars paint) is still there. You never know what your shoes (or washmitt) will pick up. One good sized grain of Sand can introduce some nasty scratches. Better safe than sorry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Me too??? Never any bleeding of the colors. I wondering why the OP's did? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If your out and about and you get just a few sprinkles on your paint, you could just place a MF towel on top of the and let the towel soak up the drops. No rubbing! The when you have time you can do a proper 2 bucket wash. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just a few years left to be paying on your Pontiac. Havin a beater rocks!!! Never had one before (that wasn't my main mode of transportation). Now I will never go without one again. If I want to mod my baby I can without worrying about time. If I wanna do an intense multi-day detail, I can without having to worry about leaving my paint unprotected. And of course, if it rains, I don't have drive my camaro(he hates getting wet) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
