    Bingo!

DS could easily last longer than 2 years, but I recommend never buying more than you need for a 1-2 year period.

Even if it doesn't go bad, with our development and product improvement cycles you don't want to get stuck with excess inventory when there's a new version out.

Looking forward to hearing everyones feedback on these. We tested a ton of different pumps until we found one that could push the thickest of our creams (the polishes), keep a decent seal, and locked down for shipment.

But it wouldn't TAKE toppers... toppers would be optional for those that want them. Again (IMO) the point of a coating is protection, thats it. If you polish a car to perfection and coat it you'll have all the gloss of a polished clear coat still there... its not like coating with a product low in resin content would make it dull, just won't add a ton more gloss.

    Dylan,

Aaron from Polished to Perfection Quality Detailing (our Western Australian reseller) came to me with an idea. Essentially have the head of a Fender Brush without the handle however replaced with a strap or plastic mould (i.e shape of a hex grip) over the brush head.

Ideally have a Tire brush that you can grip like a hex grip applicator or slide your hand under strap to clean tires, without a handle getting in the way. Having the brush set up like a Hex Grip applicator will allow more force on the head for heavy scrubbing (when needed)

    Other ideas:

Nano Coating for paint (Australian climate is harsh)
Cone shape foam attachment for cordless Drill for polishing wheels and tight gaps (i.e door jambs, under door handles, exhaust tips/outlets)
Better seals on gallons to prevent spillage in transit

SInce I started testing coatings, both unique formulations and stuff sold by other companies, this isnt' true for all of them. The big guys the Opt and CP are living up to the claims for sure. The smaller outfits though - theres a lot of hype that isn't delivered on. One very popular option (that I won't name) was applied and I was able to completely diminish the beading properties of it in 3 washes by using nothing more than APC concentrate mixed in soap. The label of course claimed YEARS of durability. Others that claim self cleaning proved to do no better at repelling grime than a basic poly sealant.

My point is this - the coatings market has some legit players, then theres a lot of guys relying on smoke, mirrors, and consumer ignorance to capture market share. Heres the funny part - in the world of coatings there primary raw material (polysilazane) only comes from a limited source. The newer versions that promise more gloss cut that with resins. In a dumbed down way more resin = more gloss, but less durability. What you should be looking for in a coating (IMHO) is out and out durability since it can be topped with more traditional LSP's for the asthetic aspects.

What is truly exciting is whats on the horizon, legitimate self healing coatings that can be wire brushed and level themselves out in just moments. The catch - they require a full clean downdraft paint booth, professional paint spraying equipment, and cost thousands of dollars to have applied. Not exactly technology that people will be using at home.

The current generation of stuff is becoming more and more user friendly, what needs to happen is more consumer education as to what a coating can actually do. There are far too many claims that are just baseless out there and too much hype by guys who don't know any better. If/when we finalize a coating product the goal will be to set REALISTIC expectations for what the product does - not a bunch of outlandish promises.

Is a coating really a product everyone needs? IMO no. I wouldn't ever apply one to my C/10... doesn't make sense. Would I use one on my daily driver thats parked outside 24/7? Absolutely. Theres viability for use on wheels for most people, but not entire cars for everyone. We'll delve more into it as we work towards a solution of our own.

Ugh 105, I used it when it first came out, never again.  Dusts so much and is such a pain to remove.

If you polish your car yearly to rid of the swirls and light scratches you may as well just use Liquid Paint Sealant for bi-yearly application and durability.  No, its not Opti Coat, but its pretty damn good considering you can get 6 months out of an application.

Adam's line is for the weekend warriors who like detailing and telling their customer base that they have a coating similar to Opti Coat that would last 2 years with no polishing, waxing, and only washes, the customers would not be the biggest fans of it.  The professionals here would love a coating but I just don't see it.

Now a product like Rinseless which is so versatile, multi-use and used often is a huge hit for them I imagine.  It's all about the reorder as well, and a product like a coating which you buy every few years is probably not going to net the best sales ratio as opposed to Detail Spray, VRT, Rinseless etc which are constantly being used and refilled.

Phil all the forum heavyweights have chimed in here, and I concur with Fred, Adam, and Matt.

Do the Garry Dean Wash Method with the Rinseless, take 8 MF towels in a 1 bucket with 2 oz. of rinseless and fill up about 3 gallons of warm water on your Gamma Seal bucket, drive it to the self wash, take your APC and DWC with you, along with a couple drying towels.

Spray down the tires with APC, DWC on the wheels, and let dwell a couple mins while you pop the quarters in.  spray the hell out of the car, wheels/tires and you'll get 90% of the grime off with just the rinse in 3 mins.  Then after the gun turns off go to town with the rinseless and your bucket of towels and you can probably go over and dry the whole car including the pre-rinse in 30 mins.

You'll sit in line longer with those Real Housebroads in the Range Rovers waiting to go into the Swirl-o-Matic on a sunny day in winter, than if you did the method above.  And you won't go home with a Swirl-o-matic finish either!  Do it right Phil or do it twice, literally if you put a coat of sealant on your paint now and do nothing but use the self service to power rinse the car and wheels/tires down a few times over winter, you should be able to do a proper wash come warmer weather and not only still have protection on the finish but no visible marring either over the entire season.

I know the auto wash is tempting, and the touchless I don't recommend because of harsh chemicals.  Are there any reputable detailers near you who do 100% hand washes in winter?  We have a few shops by me, and although it costs about $40-50 a pop, if the shop is reputable at least you know they aren't marring the finish!

How about having USPS shipping be an option for the customer for those times when you don't need fast shipping and want a lower shipping cost?

I have had Amazon Prime for years and have gotten spoiled by the two day shipping but Amazon came up with an option for choosing standard no-rush shipping in exchange for a $1 credit for e-books and I have been using this option for about 25% of my orders.

Great idea. Have you considered expanding this to a new forum section where you post the submissions and answers so others can see the recommendation? This could help folks without asking you directly and you could build a database of Q & A with the pictures. You could title the thread with year/make/model of the vehicle and a one or two word description (i.e., exterior - polish, exterior - wax, interior - leather, interior - carpet, engine - cleaning, wheels - polish, etc., etc.). You could lock the forum section down to not allow replies so that it keeps it clean or open it up and let people have at it like the rest of the forum.

I'd challenge the Boar's Hair brushes to the Big Red Wheel Brush we now offer..... we have dozens of both in our our detail bay, and I never reach for the Boar's Hair now!  Softness is equivalent, but cleaning ability is massively better...

(Consider the source....but for the face of our high end, and driver-quality wheels, it's hard to beat Big Red.)

Liquid Paint Sealant as a stand alone is incredible.  Like you, Jason, I was addicted to Menzerna Power Lock for YEARS, but ever since using Liquid Paint Sealant I can happily say I am not looking back.  The longevity and ease of use is great.  Not only that but on paint with a bit of flake to it, Liquid Paint Sealant makes it POP like no other sealant I have used.

I think there is a place for carnauba though.  Not only for looks on certain paint colors, but also just as another sacrificial layer of protection.  Applying Americana on top should in theory ad a bit of longevity to Liquid Paint Sealant.  You also can't beat the look of a carnauba wax on a straight red or yellow car.

    Paul I wholeheartedly agree.

I like polymer sealants for their slickness and durability, very hydrophobic.  I have a bottle of original formula Menzerna Power Lock which was one of the first great liquid sealants, its about done, and I will replace the bottle with LPS for spring.  I put 1-2 coats on of my liquid sealant and get a SOLID 6 months of durability, I'm sure Adam's new formula has the same or better longevity considering its a formula that is 4-5 years newer.

Friends, you have made it clear, and there is no confusion on your feedback.  You want another option for polishing, and we are responding to your request.

We looked at the options, and considered the following:
Effectiveness/ correcting ability Country of origin Ease of use Durability/ fail rate In addition to the unit made in the USA, the Cyclo, the choice was simple.

When it came to fail rate, durability, and effectiveness, the Flex XC 3401 D/A Polisher was the unit to choose.  The company has Chinese investors, which scared me silly, but the parts and manufacturing are 100% German, and the Germans do a first class job at making an exceptional tool.

The second option would have been the Rupes, however, the fail rate on the unit is much higher than the others.  From what we understand, some or much of the parts come from, 'The Orient."

I'd love to have a polisher in the sub-$200 level, however without going to China, that's unrealistic.  Stay tuned, maybe one day, that option will be available!

Welcome back Flex, and we never stopped selling the pads.  Hint:  on any clear coat finishes, two pads will do the trick:  Orange Microfiber, and White Foam.....Paint Correcting, Paint Finishing Polishes.

Thanks and your feedback, as always, is anticipated.

Note:  The first 25 Flex Polishers we sell will include a $50 Flex Carry Bag, FREE!
