  1. Touchless car washes are fine. Especially if you go to them just to knock off the heavy stuff. Then do a rinseless or waterless wash to remove the stuff that's really stuck on there. They were referring to automated washes with brushes and what not.
  2. On silver and white it's hard to tell, but on black, the streaking is definitely noticeable if you don't wipe it off after applying. When I detail my brother's black Escalade EXT (which is a PITA) I always try to pull it outside in the sun after applying quick sealant to make sure all of the residue is removed before topping it with Americana, otherwise it takes detail spray and some effort to get the streaking and haze to come off.
  3. Just wait until you have 3 polishers and only polish about 2 cars a year! Lol. Although, they all serve a particular purpose. Welcome to the addiction though. I take it, based on your screen name, that the vette is a new Z06?!
  4. If you're having issues with the GWDT scratching your clear coat due to its softness, try the large plush towel. Well, according to Adam's site, it CAN be used for drying... "Use it to dry your car after a wash, use it to remove polish residues, use it to wipe your car down with Detail Spray or just use it to impress your friends!"
  5. They had one which listed the steps for a detail that I got my step-dad a couple years ago for Christmas.
  6. Like Dylan said, it depends on what you want out of the car. All performance, luxury, or luxury performance. The new ATS-V comes in a coupe or sedan and starts in the low $60k's (little high if you ask me, kinda scared what the starting point of the CTS-V will be). There's also the M3/M4, Audi S4/S5, not sure about Mercedes, never looked into them. You also have the Challenger and Charger Hellcat models that have stupid horsepower for the money. ZL1, C7 Vette, GT500, SRT8 Jeep (if you're also considering a fast "family" vehicle). If your not looking for huge performance, there's the 3 and 4 series from BMW that aren't actual M cars. There's also the F line from Lexus (IS-F, GS-F, RC-F). I don't know anything about Porsches or the Alfa, never looked into those. Hope you find what you're looking for! Lol
  7. I prefer total interior detailer as an all-in-one interior product. I especially prefer it on the dash and door panels as it's quick and effective. If the interior is extremely dirty, which I don't think any of us really allow that to happen, then it's worth busting out the leather and interior cleaner, especially for seats. As far as the nav screen goes, do NOT use total interior detailer or leather and interior cleaner, use glass cleaner! So, here's the short run down: Dusty: total interior detailer Slightly dirty (small dirt smudges): total interior detailer Moderately dirty: total interior or leather and interior cleaner Completely soiled/stained: leather and interior cleaner It really depends on the condition. Also, you can dilute leather and interior cleaner for lighter cleaning, however you'd still have to follow up with a conditioner afterwards. With total interior it cleans and protects (although not as protective as leather and interior conditioner)
  8. Seems odd. Was the sealant exposed to a drastic temperature change (get super hot or cold)? My process is always as follows: Clay glass w/ DS (I usually clay the glass when I'm claying the rest of the vehicle so I don't switch to Glass Cleaner) Remove clay residue Apply a line of Sealant to the blue microfiber pad Apply back and forth, then up and down After I have done this on the driver's side of the windshield and the passenger's side (if you split it up 1/2 and 1/2) I remove the residue with a couple mists of Glass Cleaner and a glass microfiber. Always comes out great. I wonder if you got a bad batch of sealant? How fast are you driving in that one picture and how heavy is the rain? Depending on how fast you are going and how heavy the rain is falling influences how the water runs off, I've noticed.
  9. Looks awesome! I'm not a huge fan of satin/matte black wheels, but I think the brushed lip with a gloss center would look awesome. Or possibly a gunmetal lip to match the car?
  10. I started with the essential kit a few years ago. Now I have basically every item Adam's offers... So, it's really up to you. The bigger kit you can afford now, the more you'll save.

    My new toy

Nice changes already going to the split bumper and black painted valance! Looking forward to see the finished product with an LS!
  12. Well, those cars are 6-7 years old now, so they are out of warranty. It sucks, but I guarantee you that it's way cheaper to fix an LS-based GM lifter and cam than other sport sedan models. Plus, they respond well to mods. The DOD feature in G8's have been known to cause lifter failure. Time to swap in a new cam, lifters, and valve springs then get it tuned and the DOD tuned out.
  13. Well aren't you lucky! Haha! I say hit it with all 3 products then! I never use wax or glaze in the winter since I have crappy weather everyday.
  14. Sealant, glaze, wax. Check to see if it needs clayed before sealing as well. Additionally, no need to wait an hour before topping the sealant. You can if you want, but it's not necessary. If you work panel by panel by the time you come back to the first panel you'll be good to top it with glaze and wax. Not sure where you live or if you daily drive your mustang, but it might be a waste to glaze it during this time of year...your call though!
  15. I have both. Sealant+Americana for the daily driver, Patriot for the non-daily drivers.
  16. The pro of using Rinseless in the wash solution, it neutralizes the water. The con, it also kills the suds, but the lubricity of Rinseless is high.
  17. I have the old foam gun Adam's USED to sell. 2 pumps of car shampoo from the gallon topped off with water and I get an awesome amount of foam...way more than you're getting with 4 oz, which is interesting.
  18. The car is 30 minutes south of Lexington. Would anyone be willing to go look at it for us if we decide it's worth looking at?
  19. Just curious. My dad and I thinking about looking at a car south of Lexington.
  20. Just wondering if anyone lives in Lexington, KY?
  21. Dylan, just curious, what was the GSM on the borderless blue towels Adams offered?
  22. When you say full detail, what all do you mean? Does that include interior? Engine bay? Paint correction?
  23. Well, this is interesting... http://www.timescall.com/business/ci_27268662/longmonts-cyclo-toolmakers-acquired-by-italys-rupes
  24. I use sealant and wax on my gloss black vinyl stripe on my hood scoop. If they were matte black, I'd go with SVRT. Just watch the edges of the stripe so that the wax doesn't build up.
