It finally happened! Clearcoat strike through!
hemi1300 posted a question in Paint Correction & Polishing
Not very happy. Have tried to remove a bird etching spot dead center of the hood on my 14 ram laramie. Have gone over it a few times with rupes mini and Mark 2, while it improved, still there. Many suggested wet sanding, but wasn't comfortable going this route. Got the adams blue heavy correcting Polish with microfiber pad today and figured I would give it a shot. After 1 pass, was impressed as it looked quite a bit better. Figured 1 more pass and it should be good, couldn't be more wrong! Now have a quarter sized spot on the hood that is dull and rough to the touch. Can't believe I did this to my new $40k truck! Any advice from this point? I'm sure the only option if I want it fixed is respray the hood with clear, in that case I will just live with it and accept I made a big mistake -
Dewalt 20v jigsaw and antigravity xp10 portable jump starter/power supply. Awaiting my adams shipment arriving tomorrow after I got gift cards for xmas. Also treated myself to an undercarriage washer that attaches to power washer, works amazing!

How do u know? -
I have had quite a few of the old single soft towels have linting issues, have tried a few methods to solve the lint, including boiling them. Nothing seemed to work and eventually tossed them bc I don't want to risk them contaminating my other towels in the wash with lint. If they are newer towels, contact adams and i'm sure they will help u out

Deep wheel cleaner on motorcycle engine?
hemi1300 posted a question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Planning on taking the harley out today, as the weather is supposed to be nice here in ohio. Only problem riding it during the winter months, it still gets road salt all over and mandatory that I wash it after a ride. Curious if deep wheel cleaner would be a good choice on the black powder coat engine to dissolve salt and engine grime. -

Got a chance to try it out today with my pressure washer, worked fantastic! Wish I would have found this item many years ago -

This is genius! Ordering one now -
Really loving ceramic boost. The first couple times applying it i wasn't too sure, didn't seem to wipe on the panel very smoothly and was difficult to wipe clean. Used it again last night with much better application results, think I was just using too much product the first few times. Took the truck to the pay and spray yesterday bc it was covered it salt grime and just using the rinse on the gun blasted all the crud away no problem. Was amazed how all the dirt just rinsed off the paint, normally I would still be left with a filthy haze on the paint, but with a coating of boost applied it definitely helped keep the paint protected. Still curious which will provide more protection and shine, boost vs h20

Rinseless Wash - Just used for first time
hemi1300 replied to KoryMiller340's question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
This i have always been curious about, would using a wash mitt for Rinseless risk causing more swirls as opposed to multiple towels. Love Rinseless wash but kind of a hassle bc it takes me about 6-8 borderless towels to do my truck. -
My yellow lab used to dunk his head in my wash bucket and take my wash MIT while I was in the process of a car wash. Neighbors must have thought I was crazy when I'm chasing him around the yard yelling, and his head covered in soap suds

Cleaning off salt spray
hemi1300 replied to hemi1300's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Should have worded my post better. What I really meant, would it be safe to do a Rinseless wipe down when the vehicle has some light salt/road spray on the paint, without spraying it off first with a pressure washer or hose. Just detail sprayed the truck last night and they salted the roads bc it snowed a bit. After a drive today there was a slight amount of salt film on the paint, but didn't have time to hose it off first. Just soaked it down good with waterless wash followed by a Rinseless wash. Next time I will remember to stop by the pay and spray on my way home -
Love this time of year trying to keep a vehicle clean once they start salting the roads. Would Rinseless or waterless wash be safe to remove light salt spray/haze from the paint, or should u always power wash it first to minimize the chance of swirls?

I also experienced the same issues applying it, definitely didn't wipe very smoothly while applying like h20 gg does, towel had lots of drag and was a bit difficult to apply. Definitely gave the paint some gloss though

Adams Polishes products winter storage?
hemi1300 replied to mjshaw130's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Very, very sad day when I have to move my adams products from the garage to basement and cover on the harley, brings tears to my eyes! -
Applied it to the plastic fender lips and plastic running board area on my wife's jeep grand cherokee. Looked great after and no rain expected for 2 days or so. Vehicle sat in the garage for about 12 hours until she drove to work, and of course it was raining first thing in the morning and the next day as well. Trim doesn't look bad, but definitely lost some shine it had shortly after applying. Wondering if I should clean and reapply the coating as some of it may have washed off?

Safest way to remove etching from bird poo

Couldn't I use detail spray or waterless in place of water? -
This sure seems like a lot of product? Every time I have used the microfiber pads I normally apply 3 to 4 blobs and rub it in with my fingers. Always get good results this way

Thanks for the pics, turned out great. If I get around to it this weekend, gonna pick up some 3k paper and attempt wet sanding. Gonna go very lightly at first, enough to slightly haze the paint, then hit it with the rupes to see if any improvement has been made
