1. Did a strip wash on the G8 using my Karacher pressure washer and foam cannon for the first time. I've had both for awhile, but never got around to usoing them. I used the Spray Sealant for the first time tonight as well. The car will be spending some nights outside soon when the Sierra gets pulled into the garage to poilish with the recently purchased Cyclo and Flex with the new polshes. I didn't fog the panels, just applied directly to the pads. It's hard to tell coverage, so hopefully I got a good application on. But, seems really easy to apply and remove. Need to get more.....
2. Will be here tomorrow. Hopefully I can at least do some work with it this weekend. Looking forward to using it, not only for my paint, but other uses like the interior and bedliner I saw you post about. Also got a killer deal on a 1 vehicle used Flex last week, so now I've got a PC, Cyclo and Flex.
3. Sorry....not used to this new forum, and haven't been online for awhile, so I screwed this reply up.... I'm going to bump this thread. Thanks Chris. Just washed my neglected truck tonight, and noticed all the gunk/grime around all the "SIERRA" badges on the doors and tailgate. That stuff is going soon, with my Cyclo and used Flex on the way the truck is going to get some much needed attention. I ordered up one of the AES eraser wheels.
4. I really like my Maui Jims. I checked and they are made in Italy and Japan.
5. I placed an order last night and got one immediately. Did you check your account on their website to verify the order shows up there?
6. I just placed my order for the Cylco kit with both sets of pads. Was recently looking at the Flex, but with the ability to work smaller areas and minimal vibration and the added versatility of carpets/seats/bedliner, I am hoping this will be a good fit for me. I'm sure I will end up buying a Flex as well eventually too, but will see how this works for me.
7. I have 1 of each. Love both, but I will always have a truck and I will always have the G8.
8. Looks great. Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
9. I wish this was true, but I just ordered a set for my Sierra. They were $93 shipped.
10. Nice. Mine should be here Monday I think.
11. Yeah, I can't reply with Tapatalk, but I can now view the forum. Last few weeks I was not even able to view the forum.
12. I don't see the merino wash pad on the online store? Is it out of stock or discontinued? Don't see any posts on the forum stating that.
13. Tapatalk 2 wasn't working for this forum only, up until today. Works fine now. Using an Android phone.
14. Nice looking truck. I bought a 2012 Sierra SLE All-Terrain Z71 crew cab back February. I really wanted the truck in the same color you got, but since I was dead set on getting the 6.2L engine, I had to settle for BLACK, as there were no trucks optioned like I wanted in the color I wanted. I was going to order to get what I wanted, but didn't want to wait for up to 2 months or maybe longer. Got 2 black vehicles now...... Love the truck though. Ride is so much better than my 2003 Silverado Z71 that I traded in. The brakes on the new truck are SOOOOO much better. Having the crew cab is so much nicer than the extended cab, even with a slightly shorter bed length. I need to get a set of wheel well liners ordered up. Only other mods are the Advent stereo with backup camera, money well spent, and I bought a set of WeatherTech floor matts, which are a must for the Seattle area, vs. the carpet floor matts it came with. Enjoy the new truck!
15. Got my glass sealant this past week and got a chance to pull my daily driver 2003 Silverado into the garage to clean, clay and seal the windshield. Mine came with the sprayer head. When I spray it, it shoots a straight stream. No fan spray at all. Is this normal? From the video below of Adam applying it, it seems like it sprays in a fan. I took a sprayer off one of my 4oz detail sprays to test it out, and it also sprays a straight stream out, no fan. Doesn't appear that the spray head has been damaged in any way from the sealant, and it looks to be fairly fluid, so I don't see why it won't spray. The other thing I notice is when I applied it to the microfiber pad, then to the windshield, it was really super viscous, almost like applying honey to the windshield. You can't tell from the video in the original post how the application really goes, so I went to the store site and watched the video of Adam applying it. From his video, it appears to go on really easy, like a polish or wax. I didn't test it with any water when done, and looks like we have good weather for the next week(odd for Seattle this time of year), so I will test it out with a spray bottle tomorrow. Just wanted to get some input on what I saw applying it and what I see from the Video of Adam applying it.
16. I haven't detailed my engine compartment, so I have no pictures of it. Only thing worth seeing is the RotoFab intake, and my goldish colored headers.
17. I see 2 V6 G8's here with different engine covers. (for some reason when I quote Chris's post, only the GTO pics show up here) Are these different based on year, 08 vs 09?
18. I assume you empty/rinse this bucket and then reload it to do a 2-bucket wash? Or do you do a 2-bucket wash, and have a 3rd bucket just for wheels?
19. I assume this means you can put them on the PC as well?
20. That was back in 2004, and I still can't believe how great of a trip it was to win.
21. My dad won a trip from Marlboro to a racing school on the night of his retirement party awhile back. So he and his wife went to Colorado for this racing school where they teach you to drive Mustangs (stick and auto) on a road coarse, Van Diemen open wheel cars on the track, and IROC stock cars. About a year after they got back from the trip, which they said was unbelievable, all the prior winners got a letter from Marlboro to send an entry form to 5 friends/family members for a drawing for another trip. He sent one to me, my 2 brother in-laws, my step brother, and a friend of his. I WON! So, all the winners got to take a guest, so I took my dad. This time the school was at California Speedway in Fontana, CA. This trip was unbelievable. They treated us like Kings! They started off by sending me a check for $2000 to cover the taxes since the trip was valued at over $10K, and had to report it to the IRS. Airfare for both of us covered, hotel, 3 great meals each day, free gifts in your room every night. Entertainment every night. One night they took us to the Fender guitar museum. You get to drive each of the (3) types of cars for 1/2 day so 2 times with each car over the 3 days of school. Then they have a big party for you the last night with a great dinner and open bar. No drinking allowed until the last night. I won the best time for the Mustang on the road coarse for the automatic. I had the best time in both auto and stick until the final run and somebody beat my stick time, so I took 2nd in that. I don't smoke, but you have to fill all the paperwork out basically as if you are a smoker. If you ever see a signup for a Marlboro promotion, DO IT! They also do other trips like a ranch trip to Montana. They also gave us our helmets, racing shoes, and racing gloves to keep. Photoalbums of professional pictures they took during the school. It was the best thing I've ever won, and probably ever will win. My dad won and also got to go as a guest. Anyway, here are a few pictures: I'm on the far left in the front row, and my dad is on the far right in the front row:
22. Thanks for the writeup Dylan. I will try this tonight. I typically go around the car, panel by panel with 2 towels. First I wet the panel, use 1 towel to do a single pass over the panel to remove dust, then go back with the second towel to buff the remaining detail spray. I flip the first towel every panel(or section of panel), and the second towel every other panel. When the first towel has been used on all sides I grab another.
