  1. I washed my Dad's black CTS this past weekend, and when I was drying it in the driveway after I sprayed it down with detail spray, it was really streaky. I pulled the car into the garage and buffed it with a microfiber towel and it was fine. He had some sort of paint sealant applied when he bought it, and I was thinking the detail spray wasn't working with it. This is the first time I noticed this, but I typically pull my black car into the garage to do the drying.
  2. Lookin gooooood. Can't wait to see the new video on the new technique.
  3. That looks great. Be sure to update this post with new pictures once you get the rest of the car done. Great job AJ.
  4. I asked this question before, and I was more concerned about debris that is in the hose itself that doesn't fully get sucked up. I asked if people using the Metro Vac had a dedicated hose just for blowing off the water.
  5. I've got an electric leaf blower, but I don't use it that often because I think my neighbors think I'm nuts! With an air compressor, you need one that filters the air line so you aren't spraying oil onto your paint.
  6. hmmm...may have to experiment since I have a full gallon of the old stuff.
  7. If the gallon containers are over 3/4 full, I was unable to refill without spilling everywhere. I have since bought tap spouts that allow me to refill without spilling. I still need to store the gallon containers upright, and not on their side, because the tap spouts do leak when stored on their side but not when refilling.
  8. Looks like quite a job ahead of you! Keep us updated on the progress. I had a 1965 Mustang Coupe as my first car. I loved that car. Wish I still had it.
  9. I have a gas pressure washer, but didn't want to risk having too much pressure. And for $65, I couldn't go wrong for a 2nd pressure washer.
  10. I know a lot of folks use the electric Karcher pressure washers because they are cheap and don't put out a ton of pressure to risk damage to your paint. I bought a cheap refurbished one from Big Lots for $65 this winter, but have not used it yet. I think it is around 1500 - 1700 psi and about 1.5 gallons per minute. The weather is just starting to get nice around here, so I will bust it out along with my foam cannon I got for it.
  11. A kegerator with 2 beers on tap!
  12. I don't think you necessarily want "high pressure". You want the pressure washer to regulate the water flow to between 1 and 2 gallons per minute.
  13. I thought maybe he was just trying to piss off the Prius owners! I had no idea they made a hybrid Charger.
  14. Someone had to say it! I was going to ask as well!
  15. I was just counting my Adam's Superplush towels. I've got many more non-paint towels.
  16. Very nice Brian. I've got a 2008 G8GT and 2003 Silverado extended cab as well....but no superchargers.
  17. Or, I'm sure you can just take the tour for far less than $490!
  18. I totally agree. A LOT of Bill Gates haters out there.....who don't use Windows as their operating system.
  19. I have had (2) Compaqs in the past, and they both had power supply issues. These laptops both had straight-in connectors, where the power supply attaches to the laptop. This causes the cord to bend and apply stress to the connector inside the laptop, and eventually it looses connection or you damage the cord itself. Look for a laptop with a 90 degree connection where it attaches to the laptop. This allows the cord to just hang down, rather than bend down. I have an ASUS laptop currently. It's great, but definitely more money than most laptops you will find at BestBuy or Office Depot. I wanted a ultra-high resolution screen, and I wanted a docking station for my desk at home. The ASUS also came with a 2 year warranty, when most others all come with a 1 year warranty. Like the Junkman, I like to build my own desktop computers. I have a desktop in the office, but also a laptop, even though I rarely leave the house with it. The thing I like about a laptop is I can pour myself a beer from the keg, plop my butt down in the recliner in the living room, turn on the 52" LCD and watch TV while reading my Adam's Forum!
  20. Thanks Michael. That should work great, and no risk of hitting the car with the end of a regular hose.
  21. Good question Devin. I've got the same setup and have not figured out a good way to handle the final rinse to sheet the water off. Who's got the answer?
