Metal Polished Screws

koebot

Question

It's right back to being cold here in the Midwest. Mid to low 30s and possibility of flurries ALL WEEK! Since the weather isn't cooperating, I have to get my detailing fix somehow. Today I received my new license plate frame and it turned out great! I'll be using some new stainless steel "theft deterrent" screws with the frame. After taking them out of the package, the screws looked dull and dingy and I didn't want them to take away from the frame. Although the frame is brushed aluminum, the screws just didn't seem to fit. So I whipped out my Adam's Metal Polish. Hit em with the 1, 2 then wiped em down with Adam's glass cleaner. I tried my best to capture the difference in the pics. Am I nuts for polishing two measly screws?

Looks good. Reminds me of a quote Stacey David used to say on Trucks TV: "It's all in the details." And don't worry, you'll never be deemed nuts on here for cleaning up car parts. There are people that have SVRTed garbage cans...

OK, I can't resist.... humor me....

Good thing they came out good, otherwise you'd be SCREWED

Good thing you didn't SCREW it up

I feel better now :jester:

Nice job... thats pretty dramatic difference, and look at it this way, you could have a number of addictions. At least Detailing is healthy :)

Yeah, I did that also - just a one up on my buddy (neighbor). Mine are very clean, nicely shiny, and the water beading during the rain is pretty nice. I even did the little plastic wheels - gotta pay attention to the details for maximum effect. Now if I can get my hands on some MP#2, I can work on the metal bar and get it gleaming. :lolsmack:

I trust you put a dab of polish in the screw head hole and buffed with a Q-Tip. If not we would be very disappointed. :D

The Q-tip wouldn't fit. :(

If I saw one of my neighbors shining up his garbage can, I'd think he was nuts. Actually, mine need a good cleaning. Whoops.

Looks good, where did you get the frame from? Pics of it on the car?

Not sure if I'm allowed to post the link but it came from Billet Frames and turned out better than I expected. I highly recommend. No pics on the car yet because she's filthy and it's back down into the 30s so I can't wash her.

Do you have a vanity plate for your GTO?

No, I always thought vanity plates would draw extra unwanted attention but IDK. It's time for me to renew now so maybe I should get some.
