Meguiar's G110V2 D/A...suggestions pls

Top of the afternoon Adam's fam! Last month I'm at the Long Beach Grand Prix here in SoCal. They have a special location where Corvette owners can park; I make sure to check the Vettes every year. I spotted this cuuuute lil babe (I'm a mutt on a leash, but I'm still a mutt, LOL) wiping on a 2010 Vette with a Cali Duster. My conversation went like this--Beau-ti-fullll ! And the Vette also. Do you know The Junkman? Conversation revealed she owned the Vette and that it's supercharged. Also that she is a "Car Gal", basically using mostly Meguiar's products. I explained I was new to the personal detailing process and that my new interests could become her's if she checked out The Junkman's Corner Forum and adamspolishes.com. Discovered she started with the PC 7424 and last year while at the Grand Prix picked up the Meguiar's G110V2 from their booth. But now this cute lil puppy dun gone and got herself a Flex XC3401VRG! I had a great time with her in the Corvette corral and in the end she gifted me her G110V2. Sorry, finally the question--will the PC 7424XP gear (backing plate, pads,etc.) work equally well on the G110V2?

Guys, guys! I'm not trying to start a dust-up over here over who's is biggest.... I got lucky in getting the G110V2. Truth be told, if I was buying today, it would be the PC7424XP because of its' wide knowledge base and the Junkman's videos. Since I didn't have to come out of pocket for a DA, I figure that means I can get more Adam's products from get. I'm retired and I ain't looking for no J-O-B! Just looking for something pleasurable and constructive to do, errrrrr, like detailing my own toys between Laker, Raida and Angels games (OH SH#T! I really probably started something now) and keeping that change in my pocket. I'm a puppy when it comes to detailing and I appreciate to the max everyone's help and pointers. IT'S ALL GOOD!

So the only difference is the power behind the motor... which I guess if you plan on doing "angry gorilla" style polishing and want to attempt to push the pad thru the paint it would be helpful, but given proper polishing technique is to use only appropriate levels of pressure to operate the machine the "more powerful" motor becomes a moot point.

Proper technique.

I've said it a million times. Give a guy a machine gun and no training and give a Marine a Glock with 2 rounds. My money is on the Marine. Proper technique with a polisher that has limited power makes up for all the aggressive compounds and polishers that you can put into the hands of a novice user. When you figure that out Sean, you will actually be on your way to successful paint correction. :thumbsup:

FWIW - we warranty any PC purchased thru us for life as well.

That's good to know that Adam's will extend the one year warranty of the normal XP to a lifetime :banana:

I think Auto-Zone sells this Chinese unit now too. It looks similar anyway...

I have the old (non XP) PC and I've NEVER needed more power from it. I'd have to put most of my weight on it to stop it as it stands now. Sometimes having more of something isn't necessary.

I was unaware of the PC warranty... WOW!

The truth of the matter is that the GG6 might boast more power, but its top speed remains exactly the same.

GG6

7-Amp, 850-Watt Motor
2,500 - 6,800 Orbits Per Minute
5/16" orbit pattern

7424xp

4.5-Amp, 500-Watt Motor
2,500 - 6,800 Orbits Per Minute
5/16" orbit pattern

So the only difference is the power behind the motor... which I guess if you plan on doing "angry gorilla" style polishing and want to attempt to push the pad thru the paint it would be helpful, but given proper polishing technique is to use only appropriate levels of pressure to operate the machine the "more powerful" motor becomes a moot point.

The D ring handle is admittedly a nice touch, but in the end this exact same machine is sold under a variety of names now, all made by the same chinese company which solicits us on a regular basis to build the same machine as private label. Theres banner ads all over the net for the IDENTICAL machine under a less well known name, yet people seem to cling to the GG6 like its something special. Oh well.

FWIW - we warranty any PC purchased thru us for life as well. :2thumbs:

Never said the PCXP was bad machine:thumbsup:

And yes I do know this is a private forum and reviewing/posting products made by a competitor is frowned upon. But I'm not here to start trouble either.

Skip the Meguiar's G110v2 and the PC7424XP and pick up a Griot's Garage 6" DA.

Probably the best orbital DA on the market.

But for your initial question yes PC7424, GG6 and the G110/v2 all use the 5/16” threaded post to fit a BP.

What makes me qualified?

I’m just a weekend hobbyist that wanted to replace my five or so years old PC7424 because I just wanted too. The first machine that I actually wanted was the PCXP, I searched ever single detail threads and found people still loved the machine but few had quality issues (mostly had to do with broken spindles). Other people found the PC just didn’t have the power that they were looking for. Others suggested getting the new GG6 since it was more powerful and could correct faster without jumping head first into a rotary polisher.

So I looked into other option. The reviews of the G110v2 had people liking the new style (older G110v1 was a PC7424). In the specs also the v2 has a nice spread out speed settings and the new machine wasn’t supposed to bog down with pressure. The other model was the GG6 (new model not their 1<sup>st</sup> generation) and I found the reviews from other owners to be stellar. Not only was it a nice stop gap between a PCXP and the Flex 3401 in price and performance but it also came with a lifetime warranty.

Specs + Lifetime Warranty + the rather attractive price point = winner for a weekend hobbyist like me :cheers:

Personally as I own Both a 7424 XP and A Griot's as the Griot's has a little more power its not as well made as the 7424XP. Besides that The best and only true dual action is the Flex. Due to it having forced rotation and the jiggle action.

This G110V2 is one heck of a gift and with your help I think it a pretty good go to use the PC 7424XP goods on it. What, the worst would be I still feign for a XP and re-gift the V2. I still use the G110 (hindsight-PC would have been a better choice), all the pads, etc. work fine.

For the backing plate it lists the Thread size as 5/16” – 24. I believe that is the same being used by the PC. Maybe someone at Adam's can confirm ???
