suke
Started back working on my S. Doesn't need a ton of work to get back into shape. I've done the hood, fenders and bumpers here. Also rear wings. Basically anything that I need with my small 4" pads and polisher. Saving the big stuff for my bigger more powerful polisher. This is where I stopped. Put the cover on her until I can finish.
suke
Other than working on my own cars been taking is easy as far as taking on clients and focusing on my day job. That and having a now 11 month old I haven't had much time. So this is what I'm working on this week. This is a new purchase for this owner. I hate these things and he does too, so off this comes. Love my foam cannon It actually didn't look bad but it was a pain to correct even to 90%. Finally figured the secret to this paint. Had to pull out all kinds of tricks to get it to correct into the 90%+. Still some defects left behind that are hard to see. Thorsager
imcrazy
Nice work on the burb, I have a '14 Sierra, that clear coat is hard to get right... I still have some spots on the side of my bed I can't correct with the microfiber pad and paint correction polish.
suke
It's been crazy tricky that's for sure. I'll be really glad when this one is done.
suke
All done. He was really impressed and paid me $100 more than I was asking. Final inspection under the lights. Outside before he came to pick it up. No sun pics as I wasn't going to pull this out or open the garage door until he came to keep the dust settling on it down. suke
This one sure was a pain to get right. Had to pull out all kinds of tricks to get it to finish down without micro-marring. Ideally could/should have added a 3rd step finer polish, but that would have added a ton of time and this isn't a show car.
Dwhite0960
Christian if you don't mind me asking do you use the adams 2 step polish system along with adams pads on your correction work? Also what kind of polisher do use. Great results that BMW was dripping wet like a never ending body of dark ocean water.
suke
Christian if you don't mind me asking do you use the adams 2 step polish system along with adams pads on your correction work? Also what kind of polisher do use. Great results that BMW was dripping wet like a never ending body of dark ocean water. Yup I sure do. Every now and again I need something else for a particular situation, BUT in large I use at least 1 step of the 2 step polishing system. I have a Flex 3401, also have a PC with 4" pads( which I use sparingly as it doesn't finish down well on some paints). I also mix and match pads based upon the paint too. For the suburban I had to use a red pad and even cut down the polish with detail spray, which has zero cut, to get the polish to finish down without micro marring. I REALLY want to get a new Rupes that's coming out as it has a super large throw and is a forced rotation orbital like my flex. The flex has a ton of HP but a pretty small throw, which can leave some micro marring if you're not careful. It cuts like a mofo though. suke
Next up 2014 camaro ss It's in pretty rough shape for only 20k miles. The current owner just bought it and is lookjng to have it saved. Little scuff Stickers should never go on paint. This will be removed. Generally dirty Wheels are bleeding out due to adams deep wheel cleaner. Getting the iron oxide out of the paint as well This is why I'll never own black wheels. Haven't talked to the owner yet to see if he wants me to address this. Typical swirls and scratches Fixed Wrapped up the final bits today. Part of the final bits was addressing the vinyl. It was in pretty sad shape. Lots of water spots/etching and some kind of weird stains/marking on the rear spoiler vinyl. Before Cleaned and treated. Came out flawless. No more water spots. Perfectly smooth. No more weird marks on the back Car all done and outside. NO more sticker residue Some fun reflection shots from last night right after I cleaned off the sealant residue 22 hours in 2 days is rough. suke
Next up E92 M3. This thing is pretty BA. The aftermarket exhaust on it sounds phenomenal. Anywho it's been babied its whole life and only has 22k on it. However, still plenty of swirls and love marks. Typical swirls Someone ran over some white paint. Fortunately I was able to get it all off. Wheels were taken off I believe and even still the little mileage they had on them they were just bleeding out. Paint really didn't have much, which I expected. Hood is finished. I'm off on a business trip for a few days, so I'll get back to it when I get back. TheWolf
What was your process for the matte vinyl on that Camaro?
suke
What was your process for the matte vinyl on that Camaro? Red pad with revive on the flex on speed 2. Medium arm speed as you don't want much if any heat on that vinyl. I tend to stop RIGHT as I start to see the polish flash. It takes some working with to get it to finish down just right on every different kind of vinyl. Biggest thing to remember is you don't want to generate heat and you don't want anything with much of any cut or else you'll wreck vinyl. Also don't try this on XPEL vinyl covering....and for the sake of the future any self healing vinyl. Reason being is I'm not sure what the results would be and would rather not have someone be pissed at me who tried it on some XPEL type vinyl. suke
Back at work so I have a free second. Basically been working on this every spare second I can. I have about 26 hours in so far and looking to have 10-15 more. Almost done with the cut portion on this. This is the hardest paint I've ever seen. Granted I haven't touched Porsche paint which I hear is the worst. Got to work on the carbon fiber roof. It looked good in the sun, but was riddled with lots of wash marks. Much like the rest of the paint. Before Deep acid rain etching. Wasn't going to get those out 100% as they are pretty deep in there. After No more scratches Carbon fiber lip spoiler polished to perfection. Oddly enough this was in the best shape of the whole car. No before shots of the trunk lid as I'm short on time. The after shots are pretty amazing since i'm not even to the finish polish yet. This is just the cut portion. Making sure to keep the wheels/tires protected from polish sling/dust. suke
32 hours in and the cutting stage has been completed. Spot checking here to make sure all is gone. This car is now pretty close to 99% corrected. Finish polish I'll start this afternoon. Likely 4-5 hours of that. Then sealant followed by wax and she'll go home. suke
Finishing polish going down. Love the way it looks over carbon fiber. Looking good! Bulk of yesterday was focused on taking my light and going over every inch of the car to make sure everything was corrected properly. Some spots needed to be fixed or hit one more time. Was able to get the roof, trunk lid, and the front panel complete.
