First full exterior detail (04 GTO)

LS1 GTO

Recommended Posts

My first post!! I've always been meticulous about my vehicles, but I've never dove into polishing until this weekend after I was introduced to Adam's products on another forum.

On with the good stuff.

My GTO is a 04 with 110K miles, and shows every bit of it as you can tell by the first pictures so it needed some heavy TLC.

My process: polishes were applied with a PC 7424 (non xp)

- 1st wash was with a 50/50 mix of Adam's car shampoo and APC

- 2nd wash was just with the shampoo

- Clay bar (could've spent more time here, but it was good enough for me)

- Paint correction polish with microfiber pad

- Paint finishing polish with foam pad

- 1 coat of glaze

- 2 coats of Adam's Americana

I'm extremely happy with the results, especially considering I've never machine polished before. All said and done, it took me about 9 hours but it was well worth the sore back/arm in the end. I could have spent more time with the clay and the polisher, but I do drive the car and wasn't going for absolute perfection. There are chips and some deep scratches so 90% perfect is what I was looking for and I think I got it.

Enjoy!

Yea I thought that they were G8 19's.....I didn't know that they would fit though.

They aren't a straight swap. The hubs need to be bored to fit the GTO, but that was done by the guy I bought them from.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

the wheels look good..  so you just bored the centers on the wheels what about rolling the fenders?

I took the easy/temporary way out. I keep 10-12lbs in my drag bags now instead of 5-6. I'm planning on rolling my rear fenders this winter when she's in hibernation.
