0 Kingsford
To remove roughness that feels like sand use a Clay Bar. Polishing glass is extremely difficult because its so hard but polishing wont remove surface contamination like this.
0 Chuckster
Clay and polishing a windshield in "good condition" will give great results..... BUT, in your case you will need a heavy duty glass polishing kit that can "smooth/cut" the glass and even then the way you describe your glass this kit may not work. Polishing glass is tricky because you don't want to build up too much heat when using a polisher. I have used glass polishing kits with good results. 0 Kingsford
I would stay away from glass polishing kits unless your extremely experienced. Heat can cause huge problems and not just what it looks like problems but safety issues which can weaken the glass or take away the lamination strength. 0 Baron_Von_Awesome
A clay bar should take care of most of the roughness - Revive would also help too believe it or not. Kingsford
0 Kingsford
Love Revive! So under advertised and used. I actually mix a little revive in with my FMP / FP when polishing with a Flex. DaveVY
0 Ricky Bobby
Claybar, along with some medium polish on an orange pad will cause no harm to the windshield, glass is harder than clearcoat so you won't scratch it. Kingsford
0 Adam
I've found that the 4" Drill and orange foam pad with the Paint Correcting Polish works wonders on a scratched or stained glass..... Ricky Bobby
0 ScottyBoy
I have a window at work that they are talking about replacing because its so scratched. It seriously looks like someone scrubbed the crap out of it with a green Scotchbrite pad. I will give the PCP a try because worst case is they will still replace the glass anyway. 0 Goatluver
Going to try the clay bar and Paint Correcting Polish on my TA's windshield. Appears the previous owner used a worn out wiper blade and the windshield has a swipe mark on it.
0 Adam21
To really get down and polish glass you have to buy cerium oxide and it's a mess to work with. I would do what I could to get decent results without going that way. I usually glass the glass and use a compound with a microfiber pad and then seal it and it always works great.
