I have never tried since I don't have hard water, but I wonder if adding a Rinseless wash to whatever method you're using will soften the water enough to not affect suds. *Rinseless washes DO help soften the water; well at least ONR does. I have not used original ONR, just Adam's Rinseless, and no issues with adding about a half oz to an oz. in my soap bucket and killing suds here.
