Tire Shine

Guys I love the way it makes my tires look. But it slings everytime. And it's never dry to the touch. I cleaned my tires with rubber and tire cleaner. Applied the tire Shine and let it sit for 30-45 minutes and then wiped off the excess. Still slings. What am I doing wrong here?

Do you have a lot of nooks and crannies in your tires for excess to hide? I have boring smooth street tires on my 4Runner and it never slings

Using too much? If you're waiting 30-45 minutes and it still isn't dry to the touch then too much product would be my guess

How do you apply it? At first I was applying to much by spraying the whole tire down and coming back over it. Now I spray the hex grip applicator and work it on the tire. If I want extra shine on a tire I'll spray a couple shots on the tire then go over it like normal.

Couple of squirts on the applicator will be all you need per tire.

 

I use it after every wash and have never slung a drop.

 

Is "slung" a word?

I use the black applicator and like said above, only takes a few squirts per tire.

Black applicator here.  And yes, a few squirts is all you need. It spreads pretty well.

Post a pic of your tire.  If there are any little grooves, like in the lettering, then excess product can sit there and not dry fast enough to not sling.  Another vote for spraying the Tire Shine onto the applicator, to keep product out of areas like this.

I use an applicator with TS sprayed on to it. I also dress my tires when I know the vehicle is not going anywhere for several hours. This has worked well for me!

I sprayed into the applicator last time. I have a lot of little groves on my tires.

I still had a slinging problem on my Transam. It's like it wouldn't dry. And it was in the smooth part of the tire.

Do you buff the excess off with a towel? I use my blue waffle towels for odd jobs like this.

Yes I did. You use the blue towels for waterless wash for that??

No, the blue waffle towels. They're like $3.99 each on the site
