GXPaycheck
....and a better camera. Thunderstorm passed by tonight with some impressive cloud to cloud lightning. Somehow it always new to flash when I wasn't ready. Got a couple pieces of it, though! Added a couple of shots for Adam as well:D Edited August 12, 2009 by GXPaycheck
Cyclone
FYI - Wal-Mart has a really nice Targus brand tripod for $25... I had a cheap one and broke it, I just bought this one last week and it is really nice!
bigred vette
Cool pictures Brian! Blurry pics are better then no pics.

Marylander
Those pics are cool... For shots like that a tripod is a must, and if your camera is a good digital SLR see if you can get a wireless remote for it -- that way you can release the shutter without touching - and bumping -- the camera at all. If you can't get a remote, use the self-timer. That way you can hit the shutter button, step away, and by the time the pic snaps any vibration or movement will be gone. GXPaycheck
This is one of those times when I miss all my old 35mm gear!
mikegeaney
That last shot would have been epic on a tripod!

Rich
Was this one of those "OH S**T" pictures? Did you jump from the lightning just as you took the shot? This one is very cool.
KrazyTrain
Yeah you need a tripod for sure some of those pictures actually came out kinda cool though Its always hard to take a good night show, what kind of camera are you shooting? 70'sChevyGirl
We also had some wicked weather with tons of lightening. Those pics are very cool. Love the Adam's pic. I also need to invest in a tripod. I have the same problem staying still.
Team Adam's
Don't skimp on the tripod... go with a manfrotto... they're not cheap but worth every penny... don't know what I'd do without mine. With a tripod and a remote you could leave the shutter open for much longer on those shots and get some REALLY amazing pictures of that lightning. JJ1o87
Those pictures wouldve been even more sick if you had a tripod. Go get one. Now!
GXPaycheck
Using a Canon A95. Couldnt find anything to set the camera on that gave me a good angle, so I just held it in my lap. Lightning didn't bother me. The sore butt from sitting on the pavement was the problem! This getting old stuff sucks. I don't recommend it.
