For goodness sakes, "pay it forward" man!  If you are not going to use them, there is someone in your area that you could regift them to and get them into the Adam's fold.  They would only need a PC to get started.
Nothing wrong with the 'old' stuff either, just 'better, faster, stronger' stuff is now available.
Adam's still have the best combinations for a newbie.

I was a little disheartened that we could not get out those scratches, but they were pretty deep into the clear,  I was very pleased that we found a faster way to remove the swirls though.  That last polish should work fine on the wet-sanding marks or on his buffer trails.

Oh, and this car looks aaammmaazzing in person!  The blue at the edge of the black stripes really pops in person.  Does not sound too bad either!

mc2hill reacted to WheelMaker in determining wheel finish..
Most wheels are still traditional liquid paint. If they are cast aluminum aftermarket wheels, chances are they are made in China or Taiwan, and they most definitely are liquid painted. Powdercoating can cost as much as cast wheels cost to pop out of a mold, whereas paint is cheaper and more forgiving (they can 'fix' minor imperfections before they leave the factory).

You only really encounter the powdercoated stuff if you go to a forged one-piece or three-piece wheel, and even then only the US-made stuff. The Japanese and Germans are still painting wheels - there are reasons for this, which would require its' own blog.

Care and feeding are the same, though. Minimize abrasive polishes and acidic cleaners. I like Adam's Car Wash because it is pH balanced and, to be honest, all that is needed to remove moderate grime and brake dust. Of course, we don't have much in the way of rain or harsh elements here in CA...

Just an update on getting the paint correction done on my car. After many passes with more aggressive products, we started to wonder if the scratches were under the clear coat. After polishing just the hood stripe, the swirls came out but revealed deeper scratches that were hidden in the swirls. I made the decision to take the car back to the painter and he confirmed that the scratches are indeed in the clear coat and the only way they are going to come out is by wet sanding.

So, I left the car with him. He is going to hit it with 2500 grit and then buff it.....again. Then, I'll start over.....again.

Thank you for all the input. Everyone has been very helpful.

It's going to be awesome when it's complete.

    Thanks,

Those look very, very tasty!  But, being a full-blown Virgo, I wanted to know how much (approx.) of each ingredient you used and what was in your cow marinade?
Oh, and is a Bud required or could I substitute a nice shandy, Abita, or Old Speckled Hen?

Rumor has it we will finally be able to break free from the ITW/Clay Magic patent law on July 28th (barring their lawyers getting more extensions on the patent or other legal maneuvering). I already have a dozen different bars on my desk that are being tested.

    Stay tuned!

Spray it with APC, and work it in with your fingers.  Rinse, and spray again.  Then rinse until the water runs clean.  You could also use blue Dawn dishwashing soap.
I like to run mine across the surface of the Grit Guard to help with the cleaning action.

I have one that I have used a few times, but have not been that impressed with it.  I have not tried again since talking with the folks from Grit Guard recently.

I dunno about Adam's and a rotary.  They don't get into a whole lot of things unless everyone can safely apply them.  I think that selling a rotary would be against their niche in the market.  You start getting newbs with money wanting to get into polishing and seeing Adam's selling the rotary as the "best way" to polish and it's burn through city.

Like you said, to each his own, but gotta disagree here,

I often work with a full time detailer that does mostly paint correction, and he rarely picks up his rotary.  A powerful PC, or a Rupes with an agressive compound and foam pad, or a MF pad and compatible polishes is all he used 98% of the time.
He knows how to use a rotary and used to use it often, but with the changes in pads and polishs, there is no need.  He saves the rotary for working on boat gelcoat.

I just had the same problem, had over spray all over my truck, had to clay and decided to do a good wash first then followed up with FMP and a coat of wax, came out great.

You may have a few swirls after claying that overspray, make sure to use a lot of lube and wash the car after each panel.

Thank you for being smart and not just thinking like some think they can pick up a rotary and utilize it properly. A Flex/DA will take care of 99.9% of what a weekend warrior will need, rotary are still a valuable too for proper boutique detailers, especially those dealing with high end exotics and such with awkward areas and reaches (which is what I do prodominatly), but for almost every production car a Flex is the perfect tool. Also IMO if someone calls themselves a pro and uses only DA or only rotary then they are not, and are missing many pros of each machine which when combined are very important to a proper detail. Keep blasting away with your Flex my man, every time I see your camaro in your avatar I wish I would have talked my mom in to the cyber gray, but she loves the red conv shes got, enjoy it in good health!

With the advances in polishes (coming soon!) and the MF pads that are available (hopefully coming from Adam's soon!) I don't see the need for a 'one slip means a painter is needed' rotary.  I know many professional detailers that very rarely use a rotary on a car anymore.  The more powerful DA's (Flex, Rupes, etc.) can do the same correction in about the same time, without the 'fear factor' of the rotary.

    INCREASED/IMPROVED SEARCH PARAMETERS
Now in the search bar you can click the drop down menu on the right to bring up a quick filter system that allows you to search content on the whole forum, member names, specific threads, etc.

Additionally, there is a small light gray 'gear' shape immediately to the right of the search bar. Clicking this link will take you to the 'advanced search' options where you can search the forums by any number of filters and criteria.

    PROFILE QUICK LINKS

Included in this is a "MY CONTENT" link that will take you to all of the threads you've started which was a widely requested option since the update.

We continue to look for ways to keep the forums interesting, useful, and easy to use. Thank you for your patience while we work out the very few remaining bugs and make small changes.
