  1. Hello Everyone,

I found these photos in my backup collection from a few weeks ago that I never got around to posting.

RedAztec (Pete) and I were detailing our vehicles (his mustang and my jeep) on a Saturday afternoon.  After we had finished up, a buddy from down the street came up and inquired as to whether either of us knew of anyone who could do a decent to good polish job on his restored engine bay before his new motor and accessories were bolted in.  We looked at each other and smiled.  We informed him that we were those of which he had been seeking. ;)

We took our tubs of products and cyclo and flex over to his garage and started working on his engine bay.  I have to say that the usefulness of the cyclo in the tight corners and contours of this specific engine bay was great.  The flex tackled the firewall in the latter pictures.  The neighbor was SO impressed that he actually wanted us to let him know when we were putting in another order so he could get some himself to try and work with.

Needless to say, his paint job (real spray guns and technique) in his garage was actually not too shabby.  Even his clear coat layering was done well.  Once the polishes were introduced and correction was done (a little orange peel and uneven layers), the final fully face-meltered surface was gorgeous.

    WELL DONE ADAM'S POLISHES!

Here are the beginning shots with Pete checking the polish with his pocket Fenix flashlight.

  2. I agree with those above regarding the recommendation of the borderless blues.

I will also add that the single soft (borderless blues now) are not as "physically thick" as double softs and thus are easier to manage in the hand when folding into 4ths or 8ths and work into the curves of the body of the car (without getting flopped around or twisted in your hand).

I also 2nd the Gary Dean method.

  3. Similar notion to "Polish" vs Polish.  I was driving the newly cleaned BMW to church on Easter and decided to park next to a light pole so I could find it easier once service was out.  I stated to my mom, who was in the car riding shotgun that morning, that I felt like parking next to a light pole today.  My mom looks at me and without hesitation said... Yeah, those Adam's products make you gravitate to the pole.  You are feeling polish today.   She stated it straight and without any sarcasm.  My jaw hit the floor and I couldn't stop laughing until we had walked all the way up to the church building.  After a few seconds she got the joke. :)

Gotta love that polish, or is it Polish?

  4. Chris I have to congratulate you and welcome you to the most efficient rinseless wash club there is, isn't it awesome?

No scratching risk with this method, it's faster, and cleanup is quicker too in my opinion.

Literally I probably two bucket wash once every 2-3 weeks and rinseless wash in between as long as it hasn't been raining, muddy driving etc.

Thanks Jason.  I can't believe how amazing it is.  My car is STILL clean (after a full rain (1.5 hrs after the wash) AND a dust blast overnight).  I can't believe it.  I am still geeking out about it.

This is why I got into Adam's products.  Just to have my mind BLOWN!!!

  5. With that rinse bucket, would it be ok to add a few ounces of microfiber revitalizer to let the towels pre-soak before the washer?

I have to comment... Today, I had time to complete my very first "Gary Dean" rinse-less wash on my BMW.  I am posting a write up about it in another section but just wanted to say that it is AWESOME.  Not just for the lessening of risk of scratching of the paint, but the speed and efficiency of the whole thing, is just spectacular.

With my technique being honed, I figure I can wash the entire car this way with 5 towels (6 if you include wheels) and all in less than 25 min (including a detail spray wipe down afterwards.

SO MUCH FASTER THAN TWO BUCKET METHOD.  Now, it is more expensive as buying 6 border-less blues costs more than a couple double soft towels.  BUT with less contamination and actual wear from the rubbing on a grit guard, the border-less blues will last WAY longer.  You are getting your money's worth out of them.

If you haven't already, buy or trade for border-less blues and set yourself up for a GREAT SUCCESSFUL rinse-less car wash.

Also, I did have the second bucket full of water and MR and it also was easy to just let the towels (ALL towels) soak for like 30 min - 1 hr and then wring them out and throw them directly into the washer (with another 2 oz of MR) and that was it.

All in, I could spend less than 1 hr doing an entire maintenance wash on the car (depending on level of grime) and detail spray wipe down and clean up afterwards.  :)  That is just AWESOME!!!!

  6. Skip the sealant if its a garage queen.  You paid $250 for a wax, use it as a stand alone LSP like it was intended to be used.  Putting a sealant underneath is a waste of time & money and there's always the possibility that you will induce damage on your paint during application and removal of the sealant.  If your paint is corrected and stripped, apply Patriot and sit back and enjoy.

    I agree with the above.

If you are REALLY OCD, then yes you can still put the sealant on before the wax.  It is technically a waste of time as it is a garage queen, but hey, whatever suits your fancy.  :)

  7.

In this case, I would highly recommend the gallon and kwazar sprayer (since there is that special going on (as of now)).  I ended up doing that.  I got tired of the 16 oz bottle and the 36 oz bottle sprayers vs the kwazar (33 oz) and its sprayer.  Holds more product than the new 16 oz (obviously) and puts more down with less pulls ... WIN!!!

Plus the kwazar (with a gallon purchase) is going to be as cheap or cheaper than buying a 36 oz bottle used from someone and paying the shipping to get it.  The full bottle will weight close to 2 pounds.  Shipping on that will be as much or more than the product is worth.

(as I found out shipping you 3 oz of leather conditioner)

When i first found out about the Kwazar, i bought a ton of the half liter size bottles. They are GOOD, however i feel that i am using more product because of their double action. And i happened to be someone to lay MORE product than it is necessary. So i wasted more using the Kwazar.

Also there is a time where my kwazar head on a 33oz bottle detached from the neck area, and it no longer functions.

I feel that the Adams sprayer are very good, spray out fine mist.

I would tend to agree with the extra product being put down, but I would rather put down more than not enough.  When I used a kwazar and detail spray to help me clay a friends entire SUV, I used almost 16 oz (was thorough and looking at rinseless wash (diluted) as a cheaper lubricant).  But am I annoyed that I just put an entire 16oz detail spray bottle worth of product on a (never been clayed) SUV... no.  Yes it will be more expensive over time, but to have 1/2 the pulls of the standard bottle and put out a little more product is a win in my book.

  8. As I stated in my forum post about my collection, I am "paying it forward" with my dad.  This last weekend and through the week he has been hard at work cleaning up 2 main monitors and a head amplifier for a local church.  I insisted that since it is textured vinyl covered and rubber trimmed, he should clean it with some 50/50 (and full strength) APC and a carpet brush (hard vinyl) and protect it with some VRT and blue microfiber applicator.  Well, he took my suggestion and ran with it.

We even polished some of the aluminum trim.  Thought at first it was a bare metal but when I used metal polish #1 on it, it didn't turn black, so it is coated.  After cleaning, we covered it with brilliant glaze and buttery wax.  (the aluminum only)

  9. Ron think it over, if you want to sell to me I'd be happy to pay you for the bottle/juice.

I go over my wheels with Deep Wheel Cleaner probably 3-4 times a year max, other than that its just brushes and soapy water as I do seal them after deep cleaning, so I don't have a use for Green Wheel Cleaner.  However, DWC is also a great paint decon and I'd like to have the big bottle ready for refilling.

Either way thanks for considering, let me know and just shoot me a PM!

  10. I have a scratch on the inside of my windshield. I noticed it today when pulling out of the garage. The sun hit it just the right way I guess. I think it occurred last week when I got my car inspected and the new inspection sticker was put in. Probably due to the tool used to remove the old sticker. The bad news is I can feel the scratch with my fingernail. Is there anything I can do to fix this or is this permanent?

Technically it is permanent.  BUT... I would take it over to a local (highly respected) glass repair shop and see if it is worth looking at.  It could spread with the first HUGE temperature change and then you will need a new windshield.  Not a good day there.  They should be able to inspect it for free (but no guarantees).  Just call them up and ask.  :)
