My son helps me with mine and my wife's cars any time I do anything to them. He decided that it was time to do what we could with his ride!

We started with a wash to get off all the dirt and road grime. We used some detail spray to help with drying. Once it was dried we moved on to some Revive Polish to help bring out the shine. After we used Brilliant Glaze and trimmed all rubber and plastic with Super VRT.

The pictures are arranged before, during, and after the detail.

Find a carabiner (climbing clip) and attach it to your back belt loop. Run the cord through it and over your shoulder.
Found this idea in Popular Mechanics.

Hahaha! I forgot that I had airplay on my iPad set to push to my Apple TV. I started watching the video not realizing that it was being played on our tv. My wife was watching a movie when this took place. She got really mad really quickly thinking I was watching something a little more naughty!

Awesome video! Thank you for sharing.

There is some very solid advice given so far. I would highly suggest using a polish after claying your paint. In my experience, there will almost always be visible marring after using the clay. At the very least, use some revive polish to shine it up.

After polish, you can then move on to protecting your paint. I use Adam's liquid paint sealant and then top that with Adam's Americana wax. Are the two coats of protection overkill? Meh Possibly. But I enjoy the process.

If you have never clayed your vehicle you will be surprised at the amount of gunk you are going to remove! Just take your time and, most importantly, have some fun. There is a ton of info on the forum here. Have a look at the detailing write ups that people have posted. This will give you an idea of what others do and show you the results of their processes.

    Best of luck!

DaveyT got a reaction from Matt@Adams in Nonstop rain, corn whiskey and boredom...
The title of this thread describes exactly how this little project started. The weather has been very, very we there in North Florida. The rain started yesterday and had not let up all day today (other than a short break).

We'll, the boredom set in and I started thinking about the fact that I have a brand new mower that could stand to be cleaned. So....I cleaned it.

I used waterless wash on the body and the exposed deck. I used all purpose cleaner on the motor. I then used vrt on all of the plastics. Just for kicks I used Adam's Finishing Polish with a white pad on my PC to bring out a little shine. After I applied a coat of Liquid Paint Sealant for protection and to make life easier when cleaning it.

I know, I know. It is only a mower. But, it never hurts showing some TLC to something you want to keep in tip top shape for as long as possible.

The rain stopped for about an hour which allowed me to get this photo. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Just placed my first order! I should be polishing next weekend. Call me odd, but I have always been the type to find any excuse possible to play with my vehicles. This order will help feed the addiction!
