  1. Nice car. Not mine but one of my customers car. I just did the graphics on it for him. It's a former Koni challenge car. Not street legal, gutted, caged, straight exhaust,etc....
  2. Hey V-Raptor, thanks for the kind words. Welcome to the "Vette Forum" lol.
  3. I think you just have to install active X. It should be on your install disk.
  4. After a track day I use westleys bleach white and it melts the rubber right off, even off the clear bra without hurting it. But I'm with him^^^ taping it off saves a lot of work. I'd never been seen with blue tape on my ride though as I can't think of anything more ghetto. I use flat black low tack vinyl, and since I have it in 24" wide it's a lot easier than working with 1" strips of blue tape, lol.
  5. I bet they are. They are kicking themselves for making a good one! They lost a lot of money on service and new car sales on that one. Remember the old TFI modules on the distributors on the Lincolns and all the other old Fords? They were junk and failed all the time. Problem is they were failing the first time inside of warranty, not where Ford wanted them to fail. So they moved it to the fender instead of the dist for a year or two. Problem solved, they didn't fail anymore. Well this was a problem for Ford because they were not failing at all then. So they moved it back to the distributor and tried to improve the quality enough were they would last till just out of warranty before failing. And now they wonder why they've lost market share to companies that were considered garbage and a laughing stock 30 years ago. If you really want to laugh at the Quality is job 1 slogan just take for example their problem of the oil pans rusting through. Let me repeat that. The OIL pans RUSTED through. lol. My dad had it happen....TWICE.
  6. Was rooting for Audi, but for them to get a podium with the first year with the new car, the R15 wasn't bad. Peugeot didn't win the first year with their new car either. Next year will be interesting in that they should both have them even better sorted. If you guys want to see an excellent movie, watch Truth in 24. It was a free download on Itunes for a long time, not sure if it still is. Even if you aren't a big LeMans fan its still a great documentary, and you learn alot about the 24.
  7. I am the suck at cleaning glass. If its not streaks its MF lint. The Lotus windshield needs clean alot too as some kind of cheap plastic evaporates if it's in the sun and makes a haze on the inside.
  8. Well that's what is important since you drive one and I no longer drive neither one. I was just giving you a hard time. I like the stir the pot a little. (I do have an American motorcycle though, that although inferior in most ways except uniqueness, loudness, and torque compared to foreign bikes I like it as much as the day I got it 8 years ago and won't get rid of it)
  9. Lol. I like getting people going. My first many many cars were 'Mercan but after working for Ford and with the Unions and the things I saw there- well that's when I bought my first new German car.
  10. So you've only had one vehicle, eh? I'm on #28. You get a lot more people that finally get tired of the big 3 and go Japanese, than the other way around. There's a reason for it. I worked in quality control for an American manufacturer (Ford) and for a Japanese supplier to the automotive industry. The differences were amazing. Kudo's to everyone that puts their hard earned money on the line to support them though.
  11. If I were to ever be in a position where I needed a truck again I'd let the Ford VS Chevy and occasional Dodge fan all argue it out and drive by in a Toyota. In the past I've had all 3, but the Toyota was well a Toyota.
  12. Holy crap, I never knew you could get a shower in those trucks. My uncle just bought a new Kenworth, but no shower, lol.
  13. I never got it either. I'd get a VW TDI any day of the week before a Pious. Better long term value, nicer car, go forever, etc. My friend has got 65 MPG from his 05 Golf on road trips. I'm road tripping the Lotus to Birmingham this weekend, and will get around 30 MPG driving from 80-100 MPH. The worst I've ever got on a road trip was 27 and we spent extended periods doing 110-130. Heck I get 14 on track! I imagine if I drove 55 to 65 I'd get in the high 30's but I've never had enough restraint to try it.
  14. I forgot I had a water blade till I saw this post. I used to use it quite a bit. I think it works better on "flatter" cars. Mine is too curvy and it's hard to use it everywhere. Guess that's why I forgot about it.
  15. Whew! Thank you for that! I havn't had a laugh that good in quite a while! How many people do you know after finally getting sick of it and just finally going out and buying a Honda or Toyota ever go back to say hmm gee I really want to try out a (insert Tauras, Malibu, Focus, Impala, etc here) again. It doesn't happen. And the Big 3 continuing to lose market share on their home turf proves it. It's ok. We drank the kool aid for a long time too. Slowly everyone in the family eventually learned our lessons. We gave em more than enough chances, and certainly more than enough dollars. Actually even though we refuse to buy the crap they now try to foist on us, we are still stuck giving them our dollars courtesy ala Barrack.
  16. Well you don't go in expecting Honda reliability. For one thing it's British and Honda is well Honda. Nothing is that reliable. lol. (they sure have came a long way since how they were viewed here in the 70's havn't they? Maybe GM could learn a lesson from the underdog that slaughtered them) It has far exceeded my expectations though, and I actually drive mine (AND track it)- 46K miles so far. If it had a Lotus or other British engine and/or a Lucas electrical system I'd of never bought it. People can knock it but Toyota (actually Yamaha makes it for them) drivetrain was a big selling point for me. Getrag trans, Bilstein coilovers, Lotus Engineering suspension and aluminum frame, AP racing and Brembo brakes, Momo wheel, Yokohama tires, etc etc didn't hurt either.
  17. Good letter. I will say the thing that totally turned me off from American cars - was working for Ford. After that and the absolute dismal quality as well as complete joke of a work envirionment due to the unions I knew I could never put my hard earned money on them again. Actually that is when I bought my first German car (which was excellent btw) Even though the union employees vandilized it and I bought a piece of $hit Escort beater to drive to work with the rest of those slobs. It was further re-inforced when I went to work for a Japanese OEM supplier. Quality was 10,000 times better and something they cared about. No longer did we turn out bad part after bad part daily, but we had one part in 250,000 go bad and it was such a big deal the operation nearly came to a halt as CEO's etc from Japanese companies were flown in and every part went though 4 additional quality control checks after that. The big 3 did not get the same quality from us. They didn't spec it, and they wouldn't pay for it. All the innovation and new tech was saved for the foreign companies since they wanted it and were willing to pay for it. Once you go German (or Japanese) you won't go back. My old BMW with 200,000 miles still looks and drives great, has never had a sensor replaced or a check engine light on. Has the original cat, muffler, O2 sensors, exhaust, alternator, spark plug wires etc and still passes its yearly emissions test like a new car and leaves no spots in the driveway. The family has had a newer Lincoln with a lot less miles thats already been in the junkyard a couple years. I can't take GM seriously since they don't practice what they preach. They don't buy American themselves. They've had entire lines made in Korea. (anyone remember Geo?) What is that new little disposable tin can they have? The Aveo? Who makes that for them- Kia or Daewoo? As they've been taking billions in bail out money from us, they've been opening up brand new factories in China. Thanks GM. You used to be great but now you truly deserve to rot. It's a shame that you've taken so much of America with you. What have things come to that I actually drive a hand built BRITISH car that's reliable now? In 4 years of daily driving it's never really needed to go to the dealer for anything. And everyone knows that British cars have always been complete and total crap. The last one in the family driving a 'mercan car is Grandpa in his old Buick. But even he, if he stays driving long enough has decided his next car will be a Nissan. The Buick nickle and dimes him to death. The only foreign car he ever had was an old Datsun wagon that someone gave him and he was blown away how long it lasted and never needed or leaked anything. It was still running great at nearly 400K miles but the rear springs were going and was goign to cost more to fix that the car was worth so he traded it on his POC Buick which has been bleeding him dry ever since.
  18. While we are on top speed... I love this vid.
  19. Also it will be unique for a couple months. Then you will see one or two for every mile driven down the road.
  20. I think they did a fantastic job on the design. Great looking car. Too little too late though. The new Challenger and Mustang look excellent as well. Best looking American cars in a long time. //Could not convince me to buy one though. Look great but just not my type of car. No offense to anyone, I think it's good we don't all have the same taste or there wouldn't be any variety on the road. I would not expect my car to appeal to the Camaro crowd in the slightest. (I have owned 2 Camaro's in the past though, a loooot of years ago. One of them had a 750HP blower motor. )
  21. ^ I didn't even see that one. Oh well, I don't really use tire shine anyway.
  22. I paid extra for lightness. It sucks that they had to add a stereo, airbags, and air conditioning for the US market though. Well I guess you can pay extra for the air conditioning delete package. Is that great or what? "Simplify and add lightness"- Colin Chapman I'm just hear to mix up this "Corvette Forum" a bit.
