I have a question.  I just purchased the Ceramic Spray Coating kit a month or so ago.  Now I see a new spray coating with the added UV in the title.  It appears that it is a new product that can be applied directly over my existing Ceramic Spray Coating.  If this is true, then does this mean the original spray coating will be discontinued and also is the UV flashlight  required so the rainbow is visible?

Yes and now that I have done the paint correction the next application should be a lot faster.  Still not sold on doing the Corvette, as it is in the garage covered most of the time and doing the normal cleaning and the complete detailing I enjoy.  Also to be honest, A polished and wax finish looks more deep and wet compared to the ceramic.  I have actually had people ask who did the ceramic on the Corvette and when I tell them it is not coated, but polished and wax they don't believe me.

As some of you know, I replaced my old trusty Porta Cable with the Adams Swirl Killer 15 mm/  I arrived the other day along with some needed supplies, so today I decided to do a detail on the wife's 2018 Equinox.  Now it was in good shape seeing it is kept in the garage and we are both retired so it does not see a lot of driving, but the bulk of it seeing the other car is a Corvette so it see more time in the garage then her car.

So I started with a Strip Wash, then clay with the new Adams clay mitt.  Next I broke out the new SW and started with the white pad but after working a small area to test I decided to go with my orange pad.  So I use it along with the one step polish.  Next I went with the Ceramic Prep and finished with the Ceramic Spray Coating  I am going to let it sit over night and apply the Boost tomorrow.

Here are a few shots of the finished product.  Like I said the car was not in bad shape so any before pictures would just not have as shiny.

Ok, I just received my new Adams Swirl Killer 15mm LT Polisher and I order it in the mystery box.  It is replacing a Porta Cable that I purchased many years ago.  Among other things (and I must admit I was more then happy with what was in the box) was the Blue Microfiber Cutting Pad.  I have an second shipment due to day with the One Step Pad.  So my question is first what pad would the experts suggest.  I plan to do a strip wash, clay polish and then apply the Ceramic spray coating and then the boost to my wife's 2018 Equinox.  It has some swirls that I would like to remove first.  Second in the box was also the blue compound.  I have always stayed away from compound but I do trust Adam to supply quality products.  So which pad is the most aggressive.  I was thinking to start with the least aggressive and if need be move up.  I was planning to use the one step polish also to start with. 

Final question, I do not plan to use the Ceramic kit on my Corvette, but with the hard clear coat that is on the C6 Corvette's is the compound to aggressive to do spot correct before moving to the correct polish?

Yes, the machine is great, it's comfortable and has some power to it. If I may say so, I would recommend keeping your old Port Cable and put a smaller backing plate on it to use it with smaller pads as a mini polisher. Just want to let you know that your old tool can still even though you upgraded.

 

Yes I did not plan to discard it.  I will use it to put on the Brilliant Glaze and remove it.  I may also use it to remove polish.  I never thought of the smaller backing plate, but that is a great idea

Thanks for the reply Rich.  Looking forward to getting all the stuff and getting the wife's car all shined up and ceramic coated.  Look for before and after in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the input.  I took Jaun's advice and order the $199.99 mystery box with the 15mm SK, not the pro version.  I an sure after 14 years with a Porta Cable I will be very happy.  I decided on this one based on the limited use I will need this for.  I plan to clay and polish the wife's 2018 Equinox and then apply the ceramic spray coating.  It is garage kept and we are both retired so it is not a daily driver, but is used more then my Corvette which is also garaged kept and covered most of the time.  That one as of now will stay with the old fashion detail, polish, glaze and Patriot.

They do make a One Step pad, which is meant to be used with the One step polish, but really the pad that you will need will be dependent on your paint. If your paint is softer, maybe try pairing the One step polish with a white pad. It will take some playing around with to get the right combination. Adam's recommends the One Step Pad with the One Step Polish though.. Heres a link to that:

Thanks for this info.  My son and I sat down and place an order for the products we each needed and then I took your advice and order the $199.99 mystery box.  I figured if I was going to buy the 15mm Swirl Killer I might as well get the other goodies.  Again thanks and I am sure I will find a big difference in this over my 14 year old Porta Cable.  Only question I hav e is I also in my first order I ordered the One Step Pad.  I just assumed the buffer will come with the backing plate for the pad.  If not I will need to order one so I can use the buffer when it arrives.

I am getting ready to place an order and I was wondering which pad I should be looking at.  I have been a strong user of the Correction and Finishing Polish, but I did get the One Step Polish recently but have not used it yet.  I have an old Porta Cable, but I most likely will be getting a ne 15 inch Swirl killer with this order.  Should I order the One Step or the Blue Micro Fiber pad?  I am thinking the one step pad is what I need.  I am planning to clay and polish the wife's 2018 Equinox and then used the Ceramic Spray.  There are some minor swirls, plus I will be using it on my Corvette that get the standard detail of polish and was  a few times  a year.

Ok, I just used the Ceramic Spray Coating kit for the first time yesterday and then thought about the towels, so I looked for some post on the care and future use of these towels.  It seems everyone recommends that after the application to soak the towels and never use them again on any painted surface, but only for interior, engine, wheels and exhaust tips.  I did soak mine in hot water with a mild detergent when I was done, except I am not sure if this only applies to the towel used to apply and the one for removing the spray coating, or also for the one used for the boost and the prep.   Because I was not sure which was wich I soaked them all, but if that is what is needed sounds like I will be place an order for a few more towels.

Well we did my son's new Chevy Z71 Silverado today with my Ceramics Spray Kit.  While it came out great I may have missed a step.  After the wash, clay and Polish ( not really needed), I used the prep and wiped the complete truck down.  After a few minutes to make sure the prep was completely dry, I applied the Spray coating to one panel at a time and after a minute or two my son cam behind me and buffered it off.  We could see it rainbow.  Once that was complete, we were talking and I show him the boost he needed to order to use after every 3rd or 4th wash.  I then realized we needed to apply it to the truck to finish the process.  While none of the instructions on the bottles state a waiting period between the spray coating and the boost.  It was probably around 15-30 minutes between the spray an boost.  Is this a major problem and second I realize that it says on the spray coating to allow 4 hours before  exposure to the elements.  Well after we completed everything and got everything picked up he backed it out of the garage and we sat around talking before he headed home.  It is 80 degrees and sunny here so I am thinking he should be fine.  Will this application be ok based on how we did it?

I ordered the Ceramic kit a few months back with the intention of doing my Corvette, but decided not to as it is garaged kept and not a daily driver, plus I really enjoy doing the different steps in a complete detail twice a year and the in-between keeping it in shape.  So my son just bought a new Z71 4x4 Silverado and we will apply it to his truck as it is a daily driver and sits outside.  

I was looking for the video that Adam had back when this kit came out, but I did not find it yet, so here is my plan of attack tomorrow.  Wash and dry, clay the surface, used the One Step Polish, then the Surface Prep and finish it with the Spray coating.  

Does that sound like a good action plan or did I miss anything?

I currently have a PC 7424 that I have had for years.  I does a good job at polishing the car, but it is not the best for getting the paint in great shape.  It does not help that I have a C6 Corvette that is known for it hard clear coat.  So will the mini swirl killer work even is I wanted to do say the hood or other large areas?

I was not implying that it was the Adams product.  I have been using to long and never had any issues.  I was hoping maybe someone would have an idea if it is correctable.  

I just installed a new SLP Loudmouth exhaust system on my 2007 Corvette.  When I installed the polished tips they looked great, but after a few drives, I noticed the inside seemed to have discolored or turned dull and the flared rim of course had the typical stains from the heat and moisture.  I let the seem cool over night and then used my Adams Metal Polish #2 which I have had for sometime, but it never caused the issues on my previous C5 Corvette with an aftermarket exhaust system or the stock tips on this cat.  Now as you can see it did not do anything to the inside and it appears to have scratched the rims of the tips. Any idea on getting them back to a smooth polished look?

First let me say, I have a C6 Corvette and they have a very hard clear coat but a thin coat.  I have some swirls and small scratches, that I have not been able to remove with the orange pad using the Correction Polish.  Also I have a Porta Cable that I purchased many years ago.  I realize that it is not the best, but it is what I have, so will either of the following pads work on the PC and also which would anyone suggest, the Adams One Step Pad , or the Blue Microfiber Cutting Pad.

I was going to do a ceramic coating to both cars.  I still plan to do the wife's SUV as it is the go to car for going places (both retired).  I decided to stick with my tried and true wax.  I have had more people ask me who did the ceramic on my Corvette and they are shocked when I tell them it is not coated with ceramic.  I use Adams Brilliant Glaze  and then the Patriot Wax.  Every few washes it will get a coat of the Adams spray Wax.  Of course I do a complete strip wash, clay and polish every six months or so.  Also the ceramic I will use on my wife's car id Adam's also. 

I saw a Facebook post where someone was detailing a C7 Corvette and he has been post each step.  Well he just posted he was about to polish and wax, and he was using Adams Swirl and Haze Remover.  I have not seen that in sometime now and was wondering just how long of a shelf life it has.  Also if the car has many swirls I wonder just how effective it is on the hard clear coat of the Corvette.

Thanks, so tomorrow I will wipe it down with my waterless wash and then add the BG.  Then when I get to the show I will apply the Spray wax for the extra pop and remove any thing picked up on the drive over to Plant City for the show.

I have a big Corvette and Chevy show on Saturday.  I have been getting the car ready for the past few day and after wash, clay and polish  I applied a coat of Brilliant Glaze followed with Patriot Wax.  My question is can I apply the spray wax once I am at the show to give it that extra pop plus it will help remove any thing picked up on the drive to the show. 

I have a new bottle of the One step Polish that I ordered to use with the spray Ceramic on the wife's daily driver.  I did not order the pad that goes with it by mistake.  I wanted to use it on my car prior tp waxing and was wondering if I could use either the white or orange pad.

How often can the Spray Wax be applied?  Should there a be a specific amount of days or weeks in between use on a garaged car that is not a daily driver?  To put it simply, If I go to a cruise in on Monday, can it be applied again in the same week.

Hi Jack, so no, that thread you read about the dust sticking is in reference to the traditional Ceramic Paint Coating. I believe the cure time for Ceramic Spray coating is only 4 hours, it should say so on your bottle. Ceramic Spray Coating should last around 6-8 months. Probably closer to 8 months if properly maintained and since you mentioned it mainly stays in the garage.

 

It sounds like this is going to be your first Ceramic Coating application, is that correct?

Yes, this will be my first ceramic coating.  I have read and seen professionally coated cars and while it looks great, it is also very expensive, plus I was not sure I wanted to go that far.  While her car has some minor paint issues it is in better shape then when we first picked it up a little over a year ago from the dealer.  Her car seemed like a perfect candidate for this.  I received the kit a few weeks ago and have not really looked at it as I live in Florida and I am waiting for the cooler weather before I do the job.  I will read the instructions as well as a review of th video once more.

I purchased the Ceramic Spray Coating Kit after watching a video Adam did on a daily driver.  I now have a few questions.  First, I understood that this was a simply application (not counting the prep work).  I just read a post on it being sticky after application and concern about dust sticking to the finish.  Replies said not to worry if in a garage and to let id cure for 24 hours.  Was this in reference to the Spray Ceramic.  Next question is how long can I expect this to last if the boost is used.  I was planning to do the wife's car (2018 Equinox) that is garage kept and we are both retired so it is again not sitting in a parking lot at work for 8-9 hours a day.  The main reason is I hate to admit it, but I don't spend a lot of time taking care of it as I do my car.  I was planning to do both cars, but I am having second thoughts on mine.  I actually find it enjoyable to keep my car in show condition, so I may skip doing mine and stick to my standard Adams product line of products.

This is my car with nothing but standard Adams products.  I did a complete detail in May which consisted of clay, correction and finish polish, Brilliant Glaze and finished with a coat of Patriot Wax.  Since then I have only used detail spray and spray Wax.
