  1. Thanks Adam. If I understand what your saying... The lower quality unit may affect my impression of the hobby...correct? Appreciate your feedback.
  2. I understand your thought process... And that is typically how I approach things...except when I'm not sure if or how much ill be committed to the hobby/etc... I don't mind paying more if it's something I really get into. But, if I don't get into it, then I'd rather save the cash.
  3. Wow! What kind of car?? That's got to be defective!
  4. Gotcha... Thanks guys. With the wheels on my M5, I find using Waterless Wash and cheap microfiber towels is the best method.
  5. In the past I've tried using a wheel brush to clean my wheels... But I find no matter what I have to get in there with a microfiber by hand anyway. So...how do YOU clean your wheels? By hand or brush?
  6. I've never done any paint correction. I'm not sure how often I'll do it. So, for my intro I don't want to drop a lot of cash on a unit. If I get into it, etc... Then I'll step up and get a better unit. So....the question... What's the best machine polisher between $100 and $150...?
  7. You need to get help from The Profit, Marcus Lemonis. Seriously... Look him up. Amazing businessman who understands people, products and PROCESS!
  8. Black wheels...ANY wheel color can 'pop'. Something doesn't have to be shiny or bright to 'pop'. But I guess it's all in your perspective and interpretation. Maybe 'pop' wasn't the right word. But either way...Because they are satin and not gloss or matte. When they are clean they have a sheen to them that makes them look deep black without SOME reflective qualities. If you look at the pics you see what I mean. The light doesn't get completely absorbed like with a matte finish... But it doesn't reflect to the same degree as gloss. But I've noticed they are starting to dull a little bit and aren't 'popping' like they could. And I know what I want...thank you very much. I didn't want silver wheels.
  9. I'm looking for a weekend toy. The M5 is the daily. Plus... The GT3 really has my eye....and ears! Nothing like a NA motor winding up to 9k!
  10. Oh... Didn't think that would be as effective... But thanks for the pointer!
  11. What's the order? 1. Wash 2. Clay 3. Polish 4. Now what? Brilliant Glaze? 5. Finally Seal? Then, can I simply maintain by using DS over top the Sealant?
  12. Well, the clay bar with waterless wash worked well. I then used Quick Sealer... Though not ideal to use outside! What a PITA! The slightest wind takes the spray!
  13. Thanks Ricky! I'd love to have someone as knowledgeable and detail-oriented as you seem to be.
  14. Thanks bud. I am about an hour west of Philly. I tried the clay this AM. Can I use diluted Rinseless Wash? I have it diluted down about 12 parts water to 1 part Rinseless.
  15. Thanks guys... The worst part... I know not to hose off my car. But I had a lapse in memory. I have a lot going on currently. So, my level of detailing is purely maintenance as I am a stickler for a clean car. I've never waxed or polished... I'm inpatient... And the one experience I had with trying to polish was a horrible mess and never tried again. I'd rather pay someone to 'fix' it and then just maintain it. But I'm concerned I won't be able to find a good Detailer in quick order. The only Detailer I've ever used was not much for the 'details'. Even after giving him a 2nd chance to prove himself. I do have a Adams clay bar and and plenty of DS so I will give that a try tomorrow. Thanks all.
  16. So last night I drove home in rain/wet snow on the highway... then over wet leaves on the roads going to my neighborhood. So I thought I should hose it off real quick to make sure I got the leaves and filth from highway spray off so it wasn't totally nasty today. Well, now i've got water spots.... and they didn't come off with Waterless Wash... or detail spray!!! I'm so pissed at myself as the car is pretty new and the finish is/was still quite nice. How do I get these spots off?
  17. How will the winning reviews be chosen? What's the evaluation criteria? Or is it random?
  18. Thanks Jeff! Yes, I am 'lucky'... And very fortunate to be able to create my own luck as I'm healthy and have great support from my family that allows me to focus on my work... Which ultimately allows my family and I to have awesome experiences, like driving my brand new M5 on the 'Ring. If I opt for anything but the Z06 or 430 for the 'toy car', we'll do the same thing...take delivery at the factory in Europe and hit the 'Ring again.
  19. Thanks bud! I totally understand what you mean about being 'connected' to the machine and the experience being more 'involving'. I'll be looking at a 911, 458, 430 and Z06. And I will definitely be test driving any manual option. For me, I want my lighter, two-door sports car to be manual to have more of a connected driving experience. FYI... For this gen M5... The MT is only offered in the US. The belief is the next gen M5/M6 will NOT be offered with a manual tranny option. However, the M2/3/4, WILL be offered with a manual. And thanks!!!... The M5 is the perfect daily driver. It's luxurious, comfortable... But at the same time it's a beast with approx 600+ HP and approx 550 lb/ft of TQ. Add in the adjustable engine mapping, suspension, transmission and steering... You can tune the car to whatever your mood and situation. And, I can fit 3 people comfortably... And it's got a huge trunk so it's good for road trips. On top of it... It looks amazing!
  20. Though, even though, it's not a track car, I DID however take it on the Nurburgring for 3 laps while we were there. ; )
  21. No way! It's not a sports car or track car. It's a daily driven, 4300 lb four door, powerful, executive luxury-sport sedan with sporty characteristics and capabilities. I gladly opted for the dual-clutch transmission. Plus, the dual clutch tranny (DCT) is an engineering marvel!!! It's an 'automated manual' with two primary shafts. Even gears on one, odd gears on the other. It doesn't use a torque converter. So when you're in 3rd (for example) it spins up 2nd and 4th so they're at the same speed as 3rd. No way any human can row gears more efficiently. You have full control of what gear you're in, just don't need to press a clutch pedal or row the shifter through the various shift gates. Ferrari, lambo, P-cars, Maclaren, etc.. are all using this tech. I DO, however understand the feeling of rowing gears. I've had MANY manual trannys in my day.
